Big room, big bathroom, pleasant location. Good food at a really good price.
Some damp ingress around the window in room 5. Walls are a bit thin.
Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely location on the edge of Sussex Downs.
Clean comfy room, quite grand furniture, friendly attentive staff. Lovely cooked breakfast. Would use again.
Couldn't work the shower or hairdryer out.
We appreciated very much the overall attitude of the staff all very helpful and friendly.we stayed on a Sunday night and unfortunately the restaurant and bar closed far too early,Carvery at 6 o'clockand bar 8.00to 8.30pm,understandable through lack of trade on a Sunday evening in the winter.
And run, number one was very pleasant that could of done without the cobwebs on the bed lights
Setting was good
After booking the hotel, we were informed by family members that there was a discount rate for those attending the wedding which was onsite. We contacted the hotel and notified them that we were attending the wedding hence we informed that we would be entitled to the discount rate but when we got to the hotel, we were charged the full rate which was additional £25.00 per room for 3 rooms hence an excess of £75.00 in total!! Their explanation was that the person we spoke to was a trainee member of staff, however, that is no excuse and the hotel should keep their word. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone, the hair dryer did not work, one of our rooms was noisy, there was lipstick stains on the glass, breakfast food containers were frequently empty and not replenished in timely manner!!
Good location. Room was nicely presented with very comfortable bed. WiFi available.
Bathroom could do with updating. Breakfast good but eggs and bacon on hotplate too long.
Slightly cramped space at breakfast
Nice room, nice feel to hotel. Some staff friendly. Comfy bed.
Just a bit shabby round the edges. Wifi signal poor.
spacious comfortable room and facilities, excellent value for money
building a little tired, but old so lots of maintenance required
Set in nice grounds, staff look after you.
Meal in the resturant not good ,room could do with I lick of paint.abit out of the way and up a hill.
Good parking Staff cheery Price in restaurant and bar Quiet location
- The bed- soft and lumpy - Wifi broken- appalling as is always my main filter on selecting a hotel! - No cell signal at back of hotel for virgin or 3 networks, so had to keep going to car to do phone or text messages
The bedroom was a nice sized twin with pretty furniture. Good breakfast. Peaceful country location and nice adjoining tea rooms. Good for a short stay. Helpful staff.
The bathroom was very dated and needs refurbishing. Mold on the shower curtain.
Bedroom-size & comfort. TV-big screen & well positioned. Bathroom-size & clean Plenty of free parking Pleasant garden surroundings. Food-excellent carvery.
Bedrooms in separate building from reception& restaurant. Poor lighting in reception area. Configuration of tables in breakfast area (not enough 2&4 place tables). Limited choice of wines. Limited choice of desserts (none for egg allergy sufferer. Hotel difficult to access from dual carriageway (westbound). Temperature of shower difficult to control. Limited choice of
Very comfortable rooms and beds. Equipped with appropriate period style furniture. Friendly and welcoming staff (once you have found them).
Reception was unmanned, then had to stand in queue for restaurant until I caught someones eye. This was at an unacceptable late time (approx 7pm).
Comfy, clean, big bed
The restaurant was not the quiet environment we were looking for for our evening meal.
Staff not very helpful or cheerful! Breakfast very poor-toaster not working properly! Breakfast menu x1 passed from table to table-covered in stains. Had to ask for more bread to put in the toaster and a side plate-which was bought-at the same time 3 more guests arrived for breakfast-so no side plates for them either!
Had a wonderful time at this hotel. Wanted a relaxing weekend and that is what we got. The food was superb and the surrounding areas beautiful. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Lovely room with four poster bed.
Sofa bed uncomfortable and squeaky
Comfy beds. Quiet place. Nice environment close to lovely garden. Reasonable price. Good breakfast.
Bathroom a bit tired. Grubby shower curtain and loose fittings.
Fabulous comfy bed, good facilities and a good breakfast.
Food could of been warmer but still nice tho, location was lovely for walks etc pictures building was lovely
One member of the staff could of been alittle warmer but the other staff was lovely
We were going to Prescott Hill Climb and we thought it would be nice to stay somewhere with beautiful views the night before. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Had an amazing view from our bedroom ! Breakfast was lovely too! A very relaxing atmosphere!
highdown-hotel, Worthing West Sussex Don`t stay there and here is why.... 5.40am - fire alarm goes off. 5.50am - all of the guests are at the front of the building (15 guests, small hotel and its midweek), 6.10am - Fire service arrive (blue lights flashing) and ask if any of the hotel management / staff are in attendance..........No! Fire service check all of the rooms (with the help of the guests) to ensure every guest is out front (every one is). 6.30am - the hotel receptionist / manager arrives (who is sleeping in the adjacent building, 20` away and must be a deep sleeper) and walks straight past every one and has no idea how to turn the alarm off. No check to ensure the guests were ok (or in attendance). When checking out the hotel a few hours later, the same receptionist / manager seemed oblivious to what had happened as a few of the guests had expected an explanation or apology, all I was asked is "have you got your invoice ?" The fire & rescue service were on the scene very quickly and to say the least were very disappointed (appalling was the exact words from the fire leader) regarding the way the hotel dealt with the alarm going off. Just glad it was a false alarm and not the real thing as this hotel is way short of the mark in dealing with this situation..........This is the real Faulty Towers!!!
The hotel was clean, Staff very friendly , Breakfast ok but not amazing!
Room smelt of smoke, Hoovering that woke us up in the next room at 8am we didn't appreciate, Need updating and a lick of painting would go a miss and a few things were broken eg fire door !! If you don't like cats don't stay here there are loads if them!
