nothing, cant fault it !
Very clean, comfortable and stylish.lovely to go back too after a days work.
The first room they put us in was called a double but the bed was up against a wall. Just the thing for someone who is partially disabled (not). The second room was OK but my wife got a shock from the bedside light switch.
The staff were very friendly and fairly helpful.
Electrics in room need updating / checking
Location was good between M3&4 Views lovely Breakfast excellent
I stayed in the main building and there was a boistrous party taking place in the bar and noise travelled through the ceiling 9I was in room 11). You also need to allow about 20 minutes to get to the M4 as traffic is not the best. Avoid taking a shortcut through the villages.
Low cost, nice decor and rooms. Staff very helpful. I like this venue alot but there are a couple of points that are worth noting.
poor customer service
Small rooms Need updating Rooms dirty Noise Bar prices
Fast wifi, that's it.
Arrived late to be told I was staying back up the drive away from the main building wasn't advised when booking. You couldn't swing a cat in the room. Then had to walk outside in the dark to the main building to eat. Staff in the bar area seemed more put out that I had arrived late and ordered food.
The location was good and the grounds were stunning
Staff were not particularly friendly. Room cleanliness and strange table arrangement in the restaurant. Mostly tables of 9/10 but the hotel was full of individual business people. Unable to sit privately.
Bar was comfortable and relaxing
In short the hotel is tired and needs some investment. My room was OK but the shower fell apart as I walked into it, there were no soaps or shampoos and when I mentioned it to the reception, there was no offer of a small deduction from the price, just "Sorry, OK we will get maintenance to look at it". Not what I would have expected from a brand like De Vere.
The views from the room were spectacular
Door key card system is very poor, it was a challenge to get a "green" entry light in room 12.
Distance from a road, hence no traffic noise
The staff and the food
The food was not a great standard, microwaved food.
My room was a little tired, but no more than any other room of similar price.
After reading reviews on other sites, I was a little apprehensive. I stayed in Fir Tree Cottages and was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and had everything I expected. I was very happy with my stay.
Very slow service in the restaurant and they didn't explain it was a fixed menu, however the staff looked new and young so likely teething problems. The room I was allocated was in a separate building to the main house, a long walk in the dark to the main house for dinner, not a nice experience for a single female traveller. The room was up a flight of stairs (no lift), even through I had requested a ground floor room. The room itself was clean, however it was extremely cold. There were no heating controls and the radiator in the room was cold even though the thermostat valve was turned up full. All this I can forgive, however there was no shower in the bathroom, just a shower head attached to the taps, which didn't streatch very far, no shower curtain and only one small shampoo. I was gobsmacked that in 2014 there are still hotels without showers! A very cold night's sleep with no warm shower in the morning. Will not be returning.
The grounds where lovelly and peaceful. The staff where very nice.
The spiders The shower cubicles were a bit small
Late night check in and left without checking out the facility so cannot give a full review. But staff were friendly upon check in and room was very clean and modern.
Noisy guests interfered with my sleep and I had a very early start.
Comfortable room. Nice location.
room was small
staff were lovely
Reasaurant closes early.
Insects in the room
Responsiveness of staff
Room very small and lighting poor. Expensive for what it was with no breakfast included compared to other hotels in the area at similar prices and facilities. Also a long way from main part of the hotel.
Room was in quiet location.
I understand it is a wedding venue, but would be great if there was an option to have a quiter room
Our friends arrived from Belgium and because there was a wedding they were put in a dark corner and not allowed to use the bar and also this was before 14.00 so rooms were not ready. We arrived to meet them and then went outside to take further drinks. Then a manager (Male) came and said good news was the rooms were ready and bad news was we could not sit there anymore due to private function. We left, no problem, and went to check into the rooms. They were in the Fir Court rooms and so were told that a car park further down was near to the rooms for them. We went with them and also parked our car in that car park. We then was taking in the views when the same male came and told us we could not stay in that area because of a wedding taking place outside. We said ok and went to our cars to leave. He then stopped us driving up the road and said we had to wait another 1/2 hour for the ceremony to finish. We said why did we get told that we could park there and also his attitude was very abrupt without any apology. He could have also told us that when he said the rooms were ready. I find it very bad that a paying guest is not as important when a function is taking place. We then, fortunatley, spoke to a lady, I think called Kelly, who had the right attitude and agreed that we should have been told about the parking at least and apologised. This apology made all the difference to our embarrasment with our Belgium friends.
Reception staff on arrival unhelpful No one appeared to be in charge of the restaurant with different people (once seated) asking the same questions
