Location / the building Stayed in Fir Lodge - the floorboards above my room squeaked so loudly when the occupant walked enough to wake me up at 5.30am! The sound insulation betwee the rooms was also poor - it was as if the upstairs occupant was practically sitting next to me! Room was dusty. Shower did not work initially and the water drainage from the bath/shower was very slow.

Young lady on reception was very professional, helpful and personable. Ants all over the room. Not ideal. Arrived late and left early so did not have an opportunity to complain.

Tranquil location. Very helpful staff. Cleanliness of rooms far from acceptable. Uncomfortable bed, reported on departure. Rather limited menu, especially desserts.

Lovely hotel based in the country, allowed me to bring my dog (£10 a night), staff were very friendly and it was a smooth stay. They charge £3.50 to bring you room service (unless you order over £15) - a bit naughty. If there is a big function - like a wedding - you are barred from restaurant and bar (told this after I had arrived) - didn't bother me - but would bother you if you were looking to use these.

The Receptionist was very welcoming and efficient and gave clear explanations. The old stables setting was beautiful and the room was gorgeous and clean. There was a lovely variety of teas in the room. The size of the room and the bed was great ...I was expecting much smaller as a single person! The bed was comfortable too and there were six towels! The decor was lovely. It was a calm and peaceful stay and I only wished I could have stayed an extra night to take advantage of the park for walking. I couldn't move the radiator valve to turn down the heat....it was on all night and did become a little uncomfortable, although it was better to be able to remove bed linen than to have been cold. One of the pillows was feather which I realised later on as my chest was tightening, once I'd thrown it into the wardrobe there was no problem.

The De Vere Venue Highfield Park is situated in a very nice country area, with excellent rooms and facilities. Some (minor) parts of the buildings might require proactive maintenance, but this is least important if you look at the Hotel as a whole.

Stayed for two nights. Was a lovely and pleasant first nights stay. Bed was very comfortable and the staff were ever so friendly and polite. Refund was given for my second night due to disturbance. No tea spoons in the room. Kettle was dirty. On 2nd night of stay my partner and I was unable to sleep due to a very loud banging noise coming from somewhere in the building. I had to drive home at 2am although another room was offered to us and a full refund was given for the second night.

They have 'lost' my left luggage including Christmas presents and a dab radio and my sat nav and seem little concern and no compensation absolute disgrace and so my friends think so too. We were all very frequent quests at de vere venues. Am very shocked and distressed as I booked out chritmas day and came back new year to collect some left luggage to find ha;f of it had disappeared, 'we have looked and cant find' does not cover it by half. I now have to report theft to police and place a small claims court order and as I am very ill at the moment this is causing even more distresss

Excellent countryside location, buildings and rooms. Took advantage of a £19 room only night. Confusion over room numbering - same numbers used in main building and second accommodation block. Took three attempts to get a working key card, although staff were very helpful with this. There was obviously a problem getting the toilet to flush properly, so it was a shame that this hadn't been checked beforehand - this was the only reason for marking the cleanliness down.
