The views, the warm welcome, very good food, comfortable rooms
Beautiful hotel brilliant location close to Keswick town and the lake, we stayed in the Woodford room an old combined chapel! !! Outstanding would also be ideal for many different occasions whether it be business! Relaxing or romantic wk end id definitely be going back :-)
Superb location within walking distance of Derwent water and Keswick town. Room tastefully decorated and very friendly staff
From the staff to the comfort and ambience made our stay unforgetable . If tou are visiting the lake district the Highfield is not to be missed !
Excellent food at dinner.
1. My single room was very small, and half of it was under low sloping ceilings, on which I banged my head many times! 2. No radio in the room.
The location of the hotel was excellent. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel for residents which is great. A walk to the lake or the town centre is just 5 minutes! Plenty of places to eat in the evening if you don't want to stay in hotel, although menu was lovely.
Great food and great location
The general ambiance
Lack of a lift ---- perhaps you should advise of this as I knew my room was on the 2nd floor but assumed there was a lift
Good service and a warm welcome. Food excellent
Very friendly staff and very clean. Good breakfast.
The shower in room 20 very poor and just about scolded myself.
Decor in the room and view from the window of Room 20. Hospitality tray. Breakfast. Polite staff.
The shower hose had black mould in it and around the shower holster. The bed frame creaked and the springs in the mattress could be felt. Mattress could have been of better quality particularly after a day of walking.
Wonderful staff who went out of their way to make my stay as enjoyable and stress-free as I could ever ask for, great breakfasts, comfortable and spotless room, superb location. I was very impressed and would recommend Highfield without hesitation.
The shower cubicle was a bit too tight for my elbows.
Warm welcome on check in and receptionist carried my bags to my room. Very good food, opted for the half board offer on check in (4 course meal for £30). Excellent service from staff in reception and restaurant.
Sat nav took me to the front of the hotel instead of car park at rear so had to carry bags up steep gravel pathway. Cooked breakfast started at 8am (the time I had to leave) but they offered continental breakfast from 7.30am
EXCELLENT FOOD,VERY PLEASENT STAFF, VERY ATTENTIVE TO YOUR NEEDS.
HARD PILLOWS. SMALL SHOWER.
Central location with lovely lake views. Very comfortable
A mix up over seating at breakfast might have been avoided if Maître d had asked guests for their room number or which party they were with.
Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. All areas of the hotel are decorated to a high standard. Great view from room. Two minute walk to town centre. Food was first class. Good value.
Food is cooked to order and is delicious but be prepared to wait for it. Staff did apologise for delays.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good quality and locally sourced produce for the delicious breakfasts and excellent evening meals.
Sorry, All positive!
Bedrooms were full of character and very comfortable Friendly and helpful staff Food Superb Location Views
The fixed price / format of the dinner menu giving no real choice
The location was great and had free parking at the rear. Just a two minute walk into the town centre. Plus the parking around keswick is expensive (£4).
The warm breakfast ie the full English! It's consisted of one egg, tomato, black pud, two bacon rashers and one very over done sausage! We stayed in the Mary mount the same year and the high feild is way off when compared. Don't get me wrong you get cerel toast if that's your thing but when walking I want a huge breakfast so it wasn't up to scratch. Also no fruit just a fruit salad.
Everything on our stay was perfect
Staff excellent location excellent food very good
The shower in room 20 could do with more water pressure
excellent house and very friendly
The lack of a lift to our rooms on the top floor
