Highfield Hotel & RestaurantThe Heads, CA12 5ER Keswick (Show map) Very good, Score from 29 reviews“Friendly. Quiet. Relaxed. Excellent restaurant & food. Good location near to town but far enough away.”
Anthony,
Old Arley
Highfield has a multi-award-winning restaurant, magnificent lake and mountain views and its own private car park. The beautiful rooms have en suite bathrooms, tea/coffee making facilities and DVD players. The menu at the Highfield Hotel & Restaurant, which includes local produce, changes daily. The views from the restaurant are so good it was once listed in The Times’ Top 10 Most Scenic Restaurants. The AA 3-star Highfield Hotel & Restaurant is in Keswick, in a quiet location amongst other hotels and homes. Keswick town centre is just a few minutes' walk away, where guests can find the popular Theatre by the Lake. There is a daily coach service to Keswick and the hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the local bus station. The nearest railway station is Penrith, 16 miles away. Hotel Rooms: 18

We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The hotel rooms were very clean and suited our needs for a weekend break. The hotel location is ideal for exploring the area and Keswick. Choice and quality of breakfast was excellent. We did not appreciate the hotels policy of changing towels on alternate days. We enjoyed walking at the weekend despite being duly soaked! We had used the towels in the morning, after our walk and again in the evening. The hotel will provide dry towels for a fee. We could have re used the towels if we had facilities to dry them!

Location was good, food was good This hotel is far too expensive, the adjacent hotel was £100 a night less. There was not a bath in the en-suite, and it was hardly big enough to swing a cat, in fact you wouldnt be able too. We were without hot water for two days which was totally unacceptable, although we were offered alternitive accomodation which was totally inferior and the tariff was not reduced. Would certainly NOT recommend this hotel to friends

Evening staff and service; food outstanding. Stunning views from restaurant and terrace. Could not fault cleanliness of room; would have preferred a room at the front of the property, but that was not an issue - maybe next time. Will be returning, and strongly recommending to friends and family.

Really nice b&b, room was good and staff were extremely professional. Food was of a high standard and its in an ideal location for access to the Lakes. Good Parking. Only possible downside is large number of stairs to upper rooms but thats minor.

Two 'Golden Oldies' who enjoy the Countryside took a trip on the Rambler Bus service from the Bus Terminal and trip on the lake to relive our fell walking days and enjoy this wonderful area of our green and pleasant land. We went to Dodds Wood to see the Ospreys and found the facilities excellent and also visited Mirehouse Gardens and the little Begas Church for that special experience. One evening was spent at the Theatre by the Lake to see "Hayfever" and had a good laugh. Each night of our three nights stay was rounded off with an enjoyable gourmet meal in the pleasant relaxing atmosphere of the Highfield Hotel. None - we went to enjoy ourselves and did.

Fantastic restaurant well worth treating yourself to an evening meal after a day walking the hills (you need to build up an appetite for the 3 courses).

Staff members were extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfast was first class. An elevator would have been a great advantage. Apologies if there is one there which I didn't see!

Comfortable bed, and room and bathroom fully equipped. Room attractive but small and rather dark as only small window. Good view from the window though! Breakfasts good apart from bacon which was hard (had been cooked too soon and kept warm). Room rather small and dark as only small window, although good view. Bacon hard at breakfasts (had been cooked too soon and kept warm), although breakfasts otherwise good.

I stayed in a single room at the top of the building, it was small but perfectly formed. Decor was classy, comfortable, homely. Room was tidied everyday and fresh complimentary soaps, shampoo's, tea and biscuits were replaced. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of fruit, cereals etc and a full English breakfast. Service was fast and efficient.Although I didn't get the opportunity to have dinner in the hotel, the smells from the kitchen were very tempting. A good nights sleep in a comfortable bed with absolute silence. I slept with the window open all night and still it was quiet. I was very surprised that this hotel was only a three star, as it should be a four star by rights. Set in a beautiful location overlooking the golf course and Hope park and only a short walk to the Theatre by the Lake and the lake itself. Few minutes to the shops and town centre. Perfect and would definitely stay at the Highfield again.

I reserved the Woodford suite. It smelt very musty, presumably because none of the window could be opened and there is no air conditioning. At night it was very warm and the small fan provided was a bit of a joke. I only had breakfast at the hotel. This was adequate traditional english but a little short on imagination. For the price paid this should be much higher standard overall.

I loved the location with views out to the lake,.but also close to the township. I enjoyed the attentive service of the staff. I loved the outstanding food at the restaurant. The furnishings were smart, but confortable. We booked into the Highfield Hotel at the last minute, but I wish that we had spent our whole holiday there.

Hotel in a beautiful situation with views of Lake Derwentwater and mountains. Mealtimes were a joy. I'm a coeliac who is also lactose intolerant and gluten free bread and soya milk and spread was provided at each meal. Evening dinner was amazing with the chefs preparing separate gluten free and lactose free choices for me. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone with dietary requirements. The serving staff in the morning were not as attentive as in the evening, and got a little confused with our breakfast orders.
