We stayed for four nights in October, having relatives nearby. It's a strange mix of hotel and conference/training centre. The picture would lead you to believe you would be staying in a country house, but in fact there are a number of blocks of accommodation for conference delegates, some rather utilitarian on the outside, and presumably they vary inside too. Our room was in the main courtyard block and some of the furnishings were very tired. The nearby road is fairly busy and noisy. Staff were excellent. The brasserie is a better bet than the restaurant for variety and value. Breakfast is good. Coffee always available in the coffee lounge. Swimming pool water temperature very nice and warm.
Tired decor in places. The lack of a view.
Both dinner and breakfast very good quality
Dirty shower cubicle Lack of decent phone signal
Free wifi. Nice food in restaurant. Pool. Comfortable room and bed. Accommodating staff ensured I could get 'nutiritional' breakfast before leaving early for sports event.
Room a bit too warm - easily remedied by opening window.
Bed was far too soft & springy
Stunning venue. Loved it! Room was fabulous highly recommend
Nothing it was perfect
Very very hot rooms, difficult to sleep
The peaceful location, the friendly staff and always the breakfast!
Comfortable room Breakfast lovely
Not being able to see the front of the house, our room was a back block off the car park, didn't feel as special as the front looks! Disappointing bar meal
Very helpful staff,, lovely comfortable room and meals excellent. What more could one want?!
Traffic noise from the road but I know you can't help that!
Breakfast was quite good.
The bedrooms could be cleaner, there are a lot of marks on the doors, walls and so on. There was no hot water anymore after 3 minutes in the shower, terrible experience when you are standing there with your wet half washed hair. A lot of noise from the road as well. We are not coming back!
As always everything.
The location was excellent. The breakfast was very good.
The room was too small for two people. The shower was difficult to control the temperature.
Being asked if we were dining in the restaurant,"No",then to be told it was fully booked!!! why ask?Breakfast times should be more flexible,we had to leave before serving had started.
The Breakfast ! Good Chef and staff early in morning ....thank you
not a lot?
Welcome at Reception and Restaurant
Bit of a maze
The reception staff were good, we had some complaints before checking out and they responded very nicely and refunded some of the room rate. The breakfast facilities were very good and there was a real variety of foods to choose from. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were good.
We were allocated to one of the 'outbuildings' which are a bit like portacabins! The room was very very small and pokey. The bathroom was so tiny we could barely fit in, it was a genuine struggle to physically get in and out of the shower. The sink was half sized to fit in the bathroom and was difficult to use! The shower was filthy dirty and couldn't open fully because of limescale and dirt build up! The bed was terrible, the material headboard had greasy dirty head marks on it. The mattress was the worst I've ever not slept on - saggy, old, cheap, knackered! Like sleeping on a bouncy castle! Overall I was pretty gutted when we got to the room as I had expected something so much better from the pictures and reviews. It was a little treat for my husbands 40th birthday and I was very disappointed! We had stayed at travelodge the weekend before and that stay was far superior!!! The good quality at the restaurant was also very mediocre - very much pub quality and a little overpriced! We got a set menu with very limited dishes, then noticed other guests were ordering from the bar menu, which looked a bit nicer! It was just ok, nothing special at all, which again I was gutted about as all this was supposed to be a gift for my husband! So overall I was really disappointed with Highgate House and would definitely not stay there again.
Beautiful setting with all the charm of a country house. Staff that made you welcome, excellent food and a comfortable bed. I only booked Highgate House at the last minute as i was attending the MotoGP at Silverstone but i had a real pleasant surprise await me, it was more than i had expected, all the above and with a secure car park, i highly recommend Highgate House pun not intended
There wasn't much to dislike about Highgate House size of room was adequate for a single person. The bathroom was a little small with no separate shower and on the first night the water took ages to heat up but the second night it was ok. Food was a little expensive but it was well cooked and the service was first rate so i didn't mind. paying the extra. Really just being picky all hotels have there bad points but at Highgate House the positives certainly out waded the negatives
The original house was beautiful! The room we stayed in was part of the later built buildings. All the rooms have been renovated to an extremely high standard, when inside looks like a boutique hotel! We stayed here to go to the Moto GP. Only 30 minutes away, perfect location! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, food was delicious both dinner and breakfast! Everything reasonably priced! Bed was amazing! Cannot put it any better! A perfect stay, great value for money! Will definitely be going back!
A very minimal dislike was you could hear people coming and going through the lay out of the hotel. Not an issue though. It is a hotel at the end of the day!
The room was outdated and smelly the swimming pool area was dirty to.
Staff members were courteous, professional and helpful. Hotel setting was lovely as was the hotel generally. Very nice toiletries, towels and bedding. Food was absolutely fantastic. Motel type room where we could park right outside
TV in our room didn't really work though for us that didn't matter too much. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the wardrobe(!). Walls between rooms were a bit thin.
Stayed here for the moto gp at silverstone, the room was lovely and comfortable, the staff were friendly and the hotel itself was lovely, the grounds were stunning. Enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
Found the menu very expensive so ate out. Other than that nothing at all.
The location of the hotel was very good, easily accessible to Northampton. Nice quiet room which I requested. The service in the Terrace Restaurant was very good
There was no bar of soap in the bathroom or shelving in the bathroom tout things on. There was only one bedside lamp which made the room dark in the evening when the main light wasn't being used. We felt the area by the tennis court could benefit from a tidy up, and maybe some tubs of flowers around would brighten the area up in general. Use of the main house would have been nice.
Good facilities, good menu and good service
A bit confusing to find your way around due tot he number of buildings
On arrival we thought the Receptionist was not very professional.
The breakfast was brilliant, good car parking, quick reception book in and out.
Walls of rooms were not sound proof. Bathroom could do with an extractor fan.
