Ideal place to stay for a trip to Bolton. Very handy as its a short walk into the town centre. Also on a main bus route to travel further afield. Staff nice and friendly.

Very friendly welcome from manageress (Debbie) made us feel immediately 'at home'. Rooms were clean and tidy and had all the facilities we needed including tea/coffee making. Free wifi reception was good even at the top of the house. There was a good selection of items for breakfast which was promptly and cheerfully served. Highgrove is a convenient location (with free parking) as a base for exploring Manchester and further afield, without the hassle of driving in and out of Manchester (where parking charges and much higher bedroom costs would apply). Frequent trains to Manchester take less than 20 mins. I intend to return to Highgrove for a longer stay later in the year. Although Highgrove is only an easy 5-7 minute walk from Bolton station, it might be a little far (perhaps 15 minutes on foot) from the town centre (restaurants, pubs etc) for some.

A clean, comfortable room, with an excellent breakfast at a small additional charge, and good car parking. Very good welcome on arrival. Quiet environment. Ensuite shower room could do with a little sprucing up of 'tired' tiling.

Debs (proprietor), was friendly and welcoming from the beginning. She made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing and 'fussy'. Thanks Debs! There's no beach in Bolton - not the fault of Highgrove House

Friendliness of owner/staff Breakfast was good value The tiles & grouting in the bathroom need to be renewed. I stayed in room 6 & slept in the single bed furthest from the window. I am not normally susceptible to insect bites but I now have red itchy spots around my ankles & lower legs which I can only attribute to some sort of infestation in the lower section of the matress.

Friendly, helpful staff. Generous breakfasts. A comfortable en-suite room. Very convenient location - just a short walk from the railway station and town centre. A towel rail would have been handy; otherwise, everything was well-equipped.

The manager and the owner were very friendly and accommodating. And like many people, the breakfast was fantastic. The first night of our stay the room was extremely cold during the night, making it difficult to sleep. It didn't help that the outside temperature was well below freezing during the weekend we were there. However, the manager the second night made sure we were more comfortable by providing some heat during the night, and we slept much better.

Central location, staff very friendly and the breakfast good. The room had everything we needed. Bathroom was very 'tired' with a number of broken and 'moving' floor tiles and some wall tiles at lower levels not well fixed or grouted. Area around lower shower tray poorly refurbished vis a vis grouting etc.

The cleanliness of the rooms and the hospitality of the staff. The hotel is very convenient for all local transport. Unfortunately i was given a front bedroom and as I always sleep with the bedroom window open it was quite noisy. This was due to the sirens of either police cars, ambulances or fire-engines which seemed to persist well into the early hours of the morning. Maybe next time I stay there will not be as much activity on the streets of Bolton. However, I did enjoy my stay and cannot blame the hotel for all the noise.

The manager was very friendly and helpful despite being rushed off her feet for most of the time in the morning coping with breakfasts and incoming guests and/or phone calls. Also, very handy for the railway station and a short walk into Bolton itself. Nothing, everything was spot on especially the breakfast and cleanliness of the room.

Cleanliness, excellent value for money, friendly and helpful staff, bedroom very pleasant and bathroom although small, modern and sparkling! Modern wall tv and room had little "extras" I didn't expect to find in a budget Guest House. Debbie, the owner is lovely - V. freindly and helpful. Breakfast is only £5 and is brilliant - all freshly cooked and an excellent choice. I would reccommend this place to friends and family and would stay there again. Why can't more budget hotels be like this? Had trouble with my bedroom door lock. Bathroom bin had a couple of items left in from previous guests. I didn't know I was supposed to telephone the Guest House to let them know what time I would be arriving - Debbie had to ring me the day before. Would be helpful if she/you put this on booking forms.
