The friendliness of the staff and nothing was too much trouble. We asked for an iron and this was provided and brought up to the room. The included breakfast was excellent - fruit juice, cereals, croissants, a full cooked breakfast with tea, toast and jam to follow.... and fresh strawberries - really did set you up for the day. There was adequate parking right outside the hotel - a definite bonus. There were four flights of steps to get to the rooms. There was still a slight lingering smell of smoke maybe retained within the carpets. It was a typical 'Hastings' property with high ceilings - the en-suite being built into the main room. Despite these slight niggles, all in all it was excellent value for money.

Arrived to find main entrance door locked and 3 rings on the bell finally aroused the staff inside to come and open the door at approx 7 p.m. for check-in. When asked about time for breakfast, I stated 7a.m. to which I got the answer that they were not up that early. Consequently, only had cereal and croissants left on table with some strawberries and orange juice. Was unable to have any tea or cooked breakfast, as staff were not available at that time. Whilst my room was comfortable and bed the same, the hotel is in need of some real updating, even if just paint renovation and new flooring. Would not stay at the hotel again, in view of this.
