Located in Bassenthwaite, in the North of Lake District National Park, Highside B&B offers relaxed accommodations, free Wi-Fi throughout and free public parking on site. The property is set right off the A591 road, only 13 minutes' drive from the renowned market town of Keswick. Each room at Highside B&B features an private bathroom with a shower. Some rooms offer views overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, and all rooms have mountain views. Breakfast is available every morning, and includes an à la carte selection of yogurts, cereals, toasts, fruits, and beverages. A continental breakfast hamper is also available. The property is happy to accommodate any dietary requirements. This bed and breakfast is set in a Grade I listed working farm house dating back to 1668. The house retains many of its original features, while providing the comforts of modern day living. There is an array of different walks guests can take straight from the farmhouse door. Other popular activities in the area include hiking, fishing and cycling.

Situated in the outstanding World Heritage English Lake District between the renowned market town of Keswick and Cockermouth, Highside Farm offers relaxed and luxurious Bed & Breakfast accommodation overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. Highside is a Grade 1 listed working farmhouse dating back to 1668. The farm was purchased by the Mawson family in 1963 and since then has been a much-loved family farm. Due to the elevated position of the farm, the panoramic views are in abundance with Bassenthwaite Lake to the front, Ullock Pike and Skiddaw to the rear. The picturesque surroundings are ever-changing with the seasons, making this a perfect retreat for walking, touring or just simply relaxing. At Highside Farm we cater for individuals, couples, families, and children. Whether you are visiting our beautiful area for walking, touring, pure leisure, or business we can provide a stay that will leave you craving for more. That’s why over half of our valued guests are keen to return to the farm year after year! For those amongst us who like to explore on foot, there is an array of different walks you can begin straight from the farmhouse door. For the more energetic, advanced walkers can climb Skiddaw, the most outstanding of the northern fells. For the beginners, or the less energetic, you can stroll down to Bassenthwaite Lake and take one of the many lowland walks on offer. Either way, there is something that suits everyone – right on your very own doorstep!
Highside Farm is a traditional Lake District working sheep and beef farm. It has been farmed by the Mawson family since 1963. In 2003 the farmhouse was renovated over a period of months and put back together with love, focusing on attention to detail highlighting the authenticity of a working farm of the 1600’s. A luxurious and comfortable farm retreat with each of the rooms having been individually and carefully designed with you in mind. The farmhouse dates back to 1668 and still retains many of the original and traditional features such as oak beams and an inglenook fireplace. The array of antique furniture adds to the authentic look and combines an old feel with the comforts of modern-day living. The farm is over 400 acres, nestled at the foot of Ullock Pike and spreads almost from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake to the summit of the mighty Skiddaw. Breath taking and idyllic views. Whether you are looking for that “stay on a farm experience” or just simply relaxed, luxury accommodation in spectacular surroundings, Highside Farm is the place to be.
