Thank you Douglas, Henry, and Alan for a wonderful visit to Bath and your lovely B&B.
Hill House is classy, cozy, comfortable, and most welcoming. We arrived in a state of frenzy...we had just picked up the rental car....standard transmission...driving on the wrong side of roads that are much too narrow for two cars without driving on the sidewalk or into the bushes! Douglas calmed the nerves...."you're here now...you're safe...let me get you some tea and cookies." And then he carried our 50 lb. suitcases up to Room 2. Our room was palatial...King size bed fit for a queen with luxurious linens, a velvet sofa, soft lighting, charming decorations...paintings, pottery, pillows...sleek bathroom with big, fluffy towels and really good smelling soaps/lotions. We slept as well as we do at home. What's not to like?
In the morning we are in for a scrumptious surprise...Gourmet Breakfast! Not only is the table beautifully set with flowers and candles, the choices for cereal, fruit, yogurt, granola, and juice are more than ample. But wait, there is more: English muffin, smoked salmon, perfectly poached egg, crème fraîche. The following mornings...blueberry pancakes with crispy bacon...eggs Benedict or Florentine or a traditional British breakfast. All the breakfasts were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Conversation at the breakfast table was animated, interesting, and often jolly thanks to Henry's cheerful personality. Henry made sure each of us had enough of everything, especially tea and coffee. He also entertained us with stories about the B&B's furnishings, Jasper (their black and white dog), driving and parking in Bath, and recommended wonderful restaurants. What's not to like?
Inadvertently I left my makeup behind...Oh, my, what is a girl to do without makeup? Douglas to the rescue. Mailed the package to arrive in a few days. Thank you. What's not to like?
