wonderful owners. comfortable, well appointed rooms. nothing too much trouble for the hosts.
Large room, very comfortable bed, lovely breakfast. Location is quiet with ample parking. Great hosts.
At our age a shower over the bath is not appreciated.
The bed - boingy boingy springs!
Amazing food Beautiful house Good size room Bathroom nice
Dated decor..(except bathroom).if this could be improved it would be perfect.
Andrew was a very helpful and welcoming host. The dinner was excellent as was the choice of wines and whisky ! The breakfast choice was good too.The towels were a very good size and the bed was very comfortable.
The only downside was there was no natural light in the ensuite which made putting my make up on a bit tricky !
Welcoming and helpful hosts. Large rooms and comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast.
Very helpful welcoming and friendly staff. Clean well stocked room and bathroom. V good lounge. Lovely garden for children. Edge of village yet only 3 mins walk to shops.
No blackout blinds.
Excellent breakfast with very attentive and friendly service. Position on edge of Wigtown within walking distance to a good bistro and restaurants. Many different activities locally and only a few hundred metres from the sea.
This is a well established Guest House with many awards to its name. We would definitely stay again if in the area. The towels were large and soft. The breakfast was superb. The water was piping hot and the rooms were quiet. A home from home.
If we had any criticism, it would be that the bed, although comfortable, had noisy springs. So not much to complain about !!!
The owner was a great help in enlightening us with places to eat (even though they have a pre book option to eat dinner at the Hillcrest). He was also knowledgeable on the history of Wigtown and the surrounding area. The breakfast options available were excellent and so was the food. The best that I experienced in the three places I stayed.
Had a lovely time at Hillcrest. Granted, there were others there whom I knew, but in addition, Deborah's and Andrew's hospitality was wonderful.
all the things i have ticked above
Good location and great breakfast
Room was a little dated....but overall a nice house
We liked the large room with sea views and a spotless en suite. The off road parking was appreciated and the decor of the whole house was first rate. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order. We will definitely be returning.
Lovely room Excellant, varied meals Comfy lounge Sociable guests
Hillcrest House is run by lovely people - extremely welcoming and friendly. We had a thoroughly relaxing stay and felt very much at home. The breakfast was excellent. I will definitely be staying there again. The house itself is beautiful and our room was clean and comfortable - lovely soap too!
We were very comfortable at Hillcrest. The room was big, light and airy, the beds comfortable and the shower excellent. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast set us up for the day.
Nothing - we really did enjoy our stay
It was great hospitality/ food. Lovely peaceful setting & would like to return one day
There was nothing to dislike
Friendly welcome, clean well presented room, excellent evening meal and breakfast. Highly recommended.
Large airy room, very good food, very pleasant host
Window looked out on to another house -but not a major detraction
Need to provide a blanket for people who find a duvet too hot.
large room, plenty of space for luggage and to relax. Option of herbal/fruit teas/decaff tea in room. Large mugs.Environmentally friendly toiletries.
Bed not made and towels tidied on return
Handy for our purpose. Staff were friendly. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable rooms.
