Friendly staff;lovely breakfast and coffee; nice bedrooms, with lovely pillows and duvet; dining room overlooking garden with great views; near to old city. The entrance could be improved, so it is more in keeping with the rest of the hotel; it did not feel welcoming. A lounge area on the ground floor, with bar would be good. I would like to find more choice of teas in the room eg Earl grey, peppermint, fruit and bigger cups!

Very comfortable and well appointed. We were made very welcome, especially our little dog. The location was excellent, with a lovely garden leading to a recent renovated park/arboretum. The town centre was walking distance, without needing to climb the hill! A couple of small issues discussed directly with the proprietors!

One reason for booking here was how the Hotel website promoted its restaurant, was disappointed to find that for the duration of my stay the restaurant didn't open for one evening. Breakfast didn't start until 8 0'clock, which is far too late and clearly not aimed at the business traveller. One minor but annoying thing, maybe a personnel, but the cups supplied for tea/coffee were ridiculously small!

We stayed 1 night at the Hillcrest found the room clean and comfortable, facilities where fine. We had a lovely view over the Arboretum. Breakfast was A1 and a special mention to the lovely lady who served us with a sunny smile and nothing is to much trouble attitude. They even allowed us to leave our car parked there after we booked out while we had a wander round town as long as we where back before the next visitors arrived at two. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was staying at Hillcrest as I was running in the Lincoln 10k race on the Sunday. The location allowed me easy access to the Cathedral and Castle and it was simple to get to the start, and get back from the finish, of the race. The room was the perfect size with a lovely view and comfortable bed. the breakfast was served swiftly and was delicious and the manager checked me out very quickly on the Sunday morning. A very pleasant stay indeed. The only issue was that the shower plug wasn't draining quickly enough and I had to stop the shower in case the water level overflowed. However this could have been caused by a blockage due to the previous occupant of the room for all I know and the problem would be swiftly fixed if need be. I did forget to tell the manager about this small problem.

Beautiful room, with a lovely view of the arboretum and park. Lovely breakfast room and tasty food. Really friendly staff. We only stayed one night but would certainly go back if we were in Lincoln again. Shower was a bit weedy but this is nit picking!

Fresh contemporary feel while retaining the lovely Victorian character of the splendid building; great position, near the old centre of Lincoln but quiet. Great views from the dining room. My room was on the top floor and got a little chilly overnight. One of the bedside lights didn't work, and the shower base needs repair. Finally - the complimentary soap was horrible - felt gritty.

The Hotel was ideally situated within easy walking distance of the Cathedral & medieval part of the city. The location was quiet with views over the Arboreteum which added to the feeling of being away from traffic- in fact it was close enough to all the delights the city had to offer. The hotel owner was friendly & welcoming.

I loved the character of the hotel, old and grand, with a fantastic outlook over the arboretum. It was further than a 7 minute walk into the shopping centre of Lincoln and involved a steep walk coming back.

The best part was the location. We could walk all over the city. The friendliness of the proprietors was most welcome. We had our two dogs with us and the welcome, helpful information offered and overall feel of the place was wonderful. The room and bath area were very spacious. There was even a vanity for my wife to use in the morning to get ready. She was very pleased with that! Breakfast in the conservatory, overlooking the terraced gardens was beautiful. We will definitely recommend this B&B to our friends and we plan a return stay in the future. This was an amazing value.

The owners give a fantastic welcome and are very helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of the cathedral and the old part of the city, as you are already near the top of the hill, it is not too strenuous.
