In a beautiful secluded setting, in the heart of the city of Lincoln, the hotel has great views over the surrounding parkland to the city.

The hotel was originally built as a rectory. Today, its grand Victorian façade conceals comfortable accommodation with great views over the beautiful surroundings to the city. Despite its tranquil, idyllic setting, the hotel is just 7 minutes’ walk from Lincoln’s cathedral and the very centre of the city. All of the en suite rooms are bright and individually decorated and most of them have views over the parkland of Lincoln Arboretum. Each room is well equipped with all the comforts and facilities you need, including TV and tea/coffee making facilities. A generous full English breakfast is included in the price.

With a great location and comfortable accommodation available at good-value rates, the hotel is an excellent base, whatever your reason for visiting Lincoln.

The hotel offers a variety of services for the business guest and there is a meeting room with overhead projector. Alternatively, the hotel’s Conservatory Restaurant can accommodate business events. Complimentary wireless broadband is available throughout the hotel and a laptop is available for those without their own PC.

Food & beverage

The hotels Conservatory Restaurant offers a peaceful candlelit setting with views over the hotels gardens and the surrounding parkland. The restaurant uses locally sourced produce wherever possible and serves 3-course meals from an à la carte menu. The Conservatory Restaurant is a great location for a romantic meal for 2 or for a family get-together and guests can enjoy their food with the delightful views as an attractive backdrop. The restaurant is open from 18:30, with last orders for meals taken at 19:45.

The hotel also offers full bar facilities in the lounge, with a wide selection of drinks available, including bitter and lager on draught.

All of the hotel’s rooms are bright, unique and individually decorated. Each room is comfortable and well equipped, with all the comforts and facilities you need in a restful, relaxing base. Whether you are exploring the region as a tourist, visiting the area on business or attending a conference, the comfortable, peaceful rooms provide a relaxing haven.

Area information

Lincoln is a historic city built on a hill, with the skyline dominated by the cathedral, which dates back to 1072. The Hillcrest Hotel is only a 7-minute walk from the cathedral and the town’s high street shopping centre. The cathedral is a magnificent sight, especially in the evening light when it is floodlit.

The town’s castle is also well worth a visit. Instigated by William the Conqueror in 1068, the castle has had a colourful past and is home to Lincoln's own copy of the Magna Carta, which was sealed by King John at Runnymeade in 1215. The Prisoner's Chapel and the Observatory Tower are of particular interest.

For the energetic, take a stroll around the city with a guide to show you all the interesting and perhaps not so well known facts about Lincoln. For the less energetic, try a river trip or even a ghost walk. For those with an interest in history, the New Collections exhibition has now opened and is only 7 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

For those staying for 2 or more days, the Time Travel Pass is a very worthwhile purchase, which offers access to Lincoln Cathedral, the castle, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and much more for one great-value price. Passes are available directly from the hotel itself or from Tourist Information Centres.

A little way out of Lincoln is Gainsborough Old Hall, a magnificent timbered medieval manor house, used by the Pilgrim Fathers before they set out for the New World.

The Usher Gallery houses a collection of glass, coins and watches, as well as watercolours by Peter de Wint, J. M. W. Turner and more contemporary artists such as Lowry. The gallery has a changing programme of exhibitions throughout the year.
