Hillhead Farm LetsHillhead Farm, Pirnhall Road, Bannockburn, FK7 8EX Stirling (Show map) Very good, Score from 102 reviews“My stay at Hillhead Farm was enjoyable. The room was very tidy and quiet, however I was a little stiff when I woke up from the mattress, which wasn't that comfortable....for the price though it can't be beat.”

The room was incredibly spacious, neat and well equipped for such a modest fee (55 gbp for three adults per night) and the location was spot on. Best thing, we wanted to leave early in the morning to go further north, and could do so without disturbing the landlord or doing further paperworks. Since we had already paid upfront, we simply left in the morning by leaving the key in the door. No problems at all. They had also added small touches to make us feel special, such a lots of leaflets to explore Scotland, books and novels to read, tea and coffee maker etc. Nothing in particular.

The manager welcomed us warmly and explained the arrangements for parking and the room accoutrememts. He also offered helpful tips for sight seeing and the locations of local pubs and restaurants. The room was extremely clean and obviously ready for occupancy. Due to the size of the rental car we were given (a larger car which we didn't request), the allotted parking space was a challenge for us to manuever around the other cars. Perhaps one parking space of larger proportions could be reserved outside the fenced area for such situations. A more detailed map with written directions for the location of the guest house would be helpful.

We booked a room for 3 people. Pictures on the website showed a room with proper third bed. A very poor camp bed was supplied for my 18 year old daughter instead.

The hospitable owner and very clean room. The heater in the bathroom does not work well and the small bed in the room is not very comfortable. Its location is not very convenient for travelling without a car.

Our host, Alisdair, was friendly and gracious about our late arrival. The room was clean and attractive and the beds were very comfortable. After too many nights spent on thin, uncomfortable mattresses this trip, that was appreciated! We had free WiFi access in the room and a good, hot shower. The location was rural (on a working farm complete with mooing cows), but within sight of Bannockburn battlefield and just a short drive away from everything else we wanted to see in Stirling. Given the chance, we would definitely choose to stay here again. No breakfast, but there were several places to eat nearby and tea/coffee was provided.

We had a great room, very spacious, with both blinds and curtains a necessity for Scottish summers when the sun doesn't go down till about 10:30 p.m. and rises as early as 4:30 a.m. Our host Alistair and his wife were very accommodating, and even though we arrived early, about 10:30 a.m. they prepared our room soon after we arrived. Just across the street was the Pirnhall Inn that had a nice pub with good hearty food and tasty beers. We had a couple of horses including a little foal and a small heard of cows including a couple of calves for quiet neighbors and were only a 20 minute walk from the Robert the Bruce monument and a 10 minute bus ride from the Stirling Bus Station. Not anything really. They don't have breakfast but that can be remedied by a trip to the Pirnhall Inn which I believe is open most of the time. The only thing that was not as easy is for folks that are relying on buses and trains, their is a bus stop just up the road but the buses are about 2 times and hour on the weekdays and once an hour on the weekends.

It is not really a hotel, but an out-of-town motel with no real services. It is not really a farm either, although it is in the middle of farmland. More basic and spartan than we were expecting. Not a bad place for young families with children, but it is just a clean room without any supporting services.

Great service and it had everything we needed. The room (it was a loft room) was very hot and we found it hard to cool it down because we couldn't have the velux window much because the light was shining straight in so we would'nt be able to sleep with it open.

Not all that easy to find. Room could do with re-painting, scuff marks on walls. Mattress uncomfortable, could feel the springs. Electric shower, water only just warm and gradually got colder. No proper wardrobe in room only flimsy hanging rail which was not tall enough to hang a shirt and no dressing table. Reasonable stay but could have been better.

It was clean. We booked a family suite for 5 but were given a tiny loft room with a double bed and 2 small cots. The ceiling was slanted so we could not stand up straight. We were very disappointed in what was advertised and then what we received. The walls were very thin and we could hear the people downstairs snoring. Very disappointing!!

The room was clean and the facilities were all new. Nice little Scottish touches to decor. Do not stay here if you want any peace and quiet - the Walls are paper thin and the toilets in other rooms flush and make a hideous noise that will wake you up all times of day and night. We wanted a romantic getaway but, due to the flimsy walls and floors, we spent the whole time listening to the other guests chatting and stomping about and getting woken up at 6am, when all we wanted was a lie in! Bed was very uncomfortable too - all in all very unrestful and uncomfortable stay.
