Large, well lit carpark. Room was smallish, but ok. Babybel cheese & Laughing Cow cheese at breakfast buffet.
Very clearly a conference centre, not a hotel, reflected in service, rooms, signage, building & buffet breakfast. Light switching off on timer leaving bathroom in blackness while in shower. Smallish room, generally disappointing considering its a grand old building. Room was cold.
Everything really, but especially the staff. I was staying there as I was going to the Artrix in Bromsgove and I wanted to be away from the centre. The hotel is used for conferences, but this in no way detracted from my stay. I had a single room, which in my experience can mean a broom cupboard, but not so this case. It was very comfortable and clean with a nice en-suite bathroom (shower only). I ate in the hotel bar in the evening and the food and service was great. The breakfast was plentiful (I had a full cooked breakfast) and on checkout at 10 am I asked if it would be okay to stay until 12 as I was meeting someone in Bromsgrove and the reception staff couldn't have been more helpful, if they tried. All in all a very pleasant experience and I would definitely stay there again.
My sat nav took me to the back entrance which has a very narrow road - it was only when I came up to a barrier that I realised. I then had to reverse back quite a way until I could turn around. Not the hotels fault - but as I suspect this happens a lot then maybe a 'no entry to hotel' sign placed at this entrance would prevent this.
Good VFM. Convenient for motorways south of Birmingham. Nicely cooked breakfast and friendly staff
Most staff very friendly and efficient. The hotel is well located with good parking. Food from the bar and breakfast both excellent.
Room was a bit tired with poor heating
food was good staff were good. will stay again
Staff were polite and helpful. The breakfast was lovely!
On the ceiling, paper thin walls, rock hard bed and room was tiny!
Veiws, room, bar area, breakfast, and friendly staff.
The breakfast was lovely but my only complaint was a bit cold could do with better hot plates also shower in room 36 was hot then cold and a bit small.
Double (small) bed just for me. It would have been way too small for us if my husband had been with me though. Got a reasonable rate for the 3 days per a weekend that I stayed - cheapest within range of Stratford where I wanted to visit (about 30 minutes drive away). So, with the cost in mind, the room was really very good. Building is in nice park like setting and there are nice woodland walks in the neighbourhood though still being convenient to get into Birmingham city (25 minute train ride from Longbridge which has free parking at the rail station with a rail ticket). Breakfast pretty good - certainly more than adequate. All facilities, except wifi, as advertised. Decent sized towels. All in all, one of the most boring places I've ever stayed but, for the price, provided a reasonable room.
This is definitely a conference venue, not a hotel. It really did feel like being in an institution. The general atmosphere of the place is very dull. Wifi was extremely frustrating - almost non-existent a lot of the time - could only get it on my phone downstairs and didn't have a signal in the hotel for my 3G at all. Luckily I use an "extender" on my computer or I doubt the wifi would have been usable at all. Room was small, bed took up just about all the floor space. This was fine for me on my own but would not have worked if there had been two of us. The decor throughout, although tidy, rather drab. Couldn't get a meal there on the Sunday night which I didn't realise until too late to go anywhere else - I think that should have been pointed out to me when checking in. Staff pleasant enough, though lacking in personality and certainly took absolutely no interest in me as a (paying) guest. As a solo traveller, it is nice to have a wee bit of interaction with people - I don't expect them to entertain me but some interest in why I'm there and what I'm planning to do during my stay would have been good! These people are working in the industry called "hospitality" after all!
Having to walk in the rain going from the accommodation block to the main reception and restaurant! Got absolutely soaked...
Cleanliness,staff, food. Breakfast excellent.
Location - rather far from city centre.
Made overnight stop on trip from Norwich to Ireland. Very convent and easy to find location. Lovely setting. Arrived late but got fine pub grub even though they had a wedding in progress. Most helpful staff, an excellent cooked breakfast and very good value
Room was a bit small but adequate
Quiet well furnished rooms, excellent value for money - good breakfast, quiet location but close to M42 which was what I wanted.
Shower in my room was was poor, but they promised to fix it
Very clean room..nice atmosphere..lot of fresh air.

Stayed here for one night whilst my daughter was attending a festival snd thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!! Staff were amazing and ciudnt do enough for you!!! thoroughly recommend this hotel and we will be back!
Efficient staff on the desk on arrival. Most pleasant young man on the desk overnight. The room was exactly what we were expecting for a teachers' conference centre, but was very comfortable and suitable for our needs. The breakfast was excellent and the grounds were lovely.
Nothing to mention here.
Bathroom light goes off while you are in the shower
Location Gardens Modern and clean
Car Exit Barrier/really neccessary where it is?
We chose Hillscourt as a change to chain Hotels and it was perfectly adequate. Comfortable room, comfortable and quiet followed by a good breakfast - essential after a reunion with old friends. Certainly the Hotel's true purpose - that of a Training and Conference centre for the NASUWT shows through but ignore that and easily recommend it for a short break.
Nothing to deter us from using it again.
Loved the setting and the building itself. Surprised it was a Trade Union conference facility. Impressed with standard of furnishing and catering
Soft furnishings were grubby
All very good, value for money. Clean with a scrumptious breakfast.
