Hillview Cottage  

Es una casa particular en el campo, que un reducido número de habitaciones. El dueño muy cordial y atento y dispuesto a ayudarnos con la visita por la zona. Nos recomendó un restaurante/pub cercano para cenar que fue todo un éxito. Las habitaciones bastante bien y el desayuno preparado en el momento.

Host was excellent, decor was eclectic and very interesting.

Jon was a perfect host. Very calm, laidback and friendly.

The front of the house could do with some freshening up. The first impression of the house wasn't that great, but once you are inside, look through your window and get to know the host the lick of paint or shabby door doesn't matter anymore!

Jon the owner is an excellent host. He's well traveled and his cottage is eclectic and charming. If I'm back in this neck of the woods again I will definitely stay here. Many thanks.

Owner was relaxed and friendly. Room was well looked after. Ensuite was new and worked well. Had a very pleasant stay.

Warm & friendly welcome from Jon & his family. Jon gave excellent advice to restaurants & travel. Breakfast was excellent & fulfilling.

Staff very helpful. Breakfast good, hot and well cooked.

The entertaining proprietor with an ascerbic wit gave excellent reommendations, great advice and cooked a tasty breakfast. Though the exterior is a little tired and the decor original, it is a work in progress and far out weighed by the warmth of the welcome.

The popup waste in the basin didn't fully work and needs adjustment to keep water in it.

Very friendly B&B. Near to city centre. Nice and quiet surrounding.

It is not possible to reach Stirling wothout a car.

Room was not ready before 4pm. We arrived at 1pm, were greeted by the owner on the door step only to tell us rooms will not be ready before 4pm. Decided to go to a nearby safari park to fill-in the gap

John the owner was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you, the room was comfortable and warm with a modern bathroom and amazing shower! Breakfast offered a good choice, full english or cereal, yoghurts, fruit, etc!

The owner, John, was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The cottage is in the countryside, so our room faced the field with the cows - rural and fresh air, and quiet. John suggested we eat at the hotel in Thornhill - a must! Quaint old scottish pub with the most amazing menu.

Enjoyed our stay. At £48 good value. Nice rural view from our room.

With the window open to cool the room the traffic kept me awake.

Very pleasant large bungalow in peaceful rural surroundings. We were only stopping for the night as our stay was part of a longer holiday to visit friends and relations in Scotland. However there are interesting tourist attractions in the area and we visited Dunblane Castle while we were there. Staff were all friendly and helpful and full Scottish breakfast was delicious!

Hillview Cottage was certainly inexpensive. However, if I could afford something better and more conveniently located, I would probably stay elsewhere.

The rooms were poorly soundproofed from other rooms - it was easy to hear conversations across the corridor. The location was poor - about 7-8km from Stirling on a road that was dangerous to enter from the cottage. No suitable walking paths nearby. Little attempt was made to keep the income-producing part of the cottage separate from the owner's rather untidy living apce.

Location was good, being away from busy roads. Plenty of car paking space off road. Very friendly host.

It could do with a face lift and some tlc. There was a smell of damp in the bedroom and bathroom. Advertised to cater for vegetarians (breakfast), but sadly this comprised, in lieu of bacon and sausage, a low cost and un- -appetising vegetarian burger.

Warm friendly welcome and atmosphere. Great rates, breakfast was a beautiful home cooked meal.

The owner of the house is very hospitable. Room was clear and comfortable enough.

It was a bit hard to find the house via Google maps, it's actually a mile away from the place google shows, so be careful and look for signs. It's not very good to have a single large table for all guests.

I am very grateful to John Darby. He is the most gentle, intelligent and helpful person my family and myself met in our 2 weeks holidays in Scotland. Our stay was wonderful, every detail was taken care of and I recomend Hillview Cottage without any restrictions. Would return tomorrow and stay for ever! Thank you John for yor support and advice and for beeing such a kind and special human beeing. You taught me most valouble facts about life itself.

Very friendly made very welcome

The location is very good for exploring the Stirling area.

Our room was set up to sleep 5 people but only had one chair. The toilet is squeezed in between the shower and the wall making it comfortable only for small people or children.
