The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, very impressed with the dressing gowns and bath. The restaraunt (buffet) was very nice, not too pricey, and a great breakfast! I found the staff at reception very unhelpful, there didn't seem to be any communication between them. After joining a big que to check in at 3pm we were told that we could not check in as our room would not be ready for another hour, although it clearly said that 'check in' was at 3pm on our booking confirmation. There was no appology, all they said was come back at 4pm. After 30mins of waiting I politly asked if we could have some drinks vouchers for a coffee. They reluctantly gave us a voucher, but only because I said to them that, if we had been checked in to our room we would be having a coffee, so I don't see why I should spend £12 on two coffee's when it is not my fault there is a delay checking in. I joined the que again at 4pm to attempt to check in, and was told we would have to wait another hour to check in, by this point I was not happy at all. I asked if there was anything that they could offer me out of good will for the inconvenience they had caused, and the lady at reception said to leave it with her. When I went back to check in at 5.20pm I asked the lady (a different one from the 4pm check in attempt) what they would offer us out of good will, and there was nothing recorded on the computer from the previous lady that spoke to us. When we finally got to our room, I phoned to say I would like to complain, and they offered us a bottle of wine and late check out. We were going to the 'Gadget show' in the nec the next day, so they said we can go to the Gadget show and check out when we get back. When we returned from the Gadget show the next day we went to go back to our room, and could not get in. We qued at reception again, and was told that the cleaners noticed that our bags had been packed and decided to take our belongings down to reception. There was absolutely no communication between the staff. They represent the hotel, and leave a lasting impresstion, which for us was not a good one.

Well placed for access to the NEC and a short train ride from Birmingham town centre. Nice rooms and very clean. The hotel should advise guests of exhibitions and events that take over the hotel. As guests can feel intimidated and uneasy.

We tend to go for hotels with best ofers in the 3/4* class. We have travelled abroad widely but rarely used a hilton. We chose the hilton on this occasion as we were attending a show at the nec. It was also a wedding anniversary so I paid more than usual. The service and facilities were faultless with the exception of the hordes of young people in fancy dress going to a convention. However they were polite and well behaved and there were no problems other than they did clog up all the seats in the lounges and bars. We would certainly consider using a hilton hotel in the future and possibly pay more. We did like the executive lounge. The only thing to comment on is as above the hordes of fancy dressed youngsters filling almost every avaiable space. We would check in future if there is a convention or similar on before booking.

Location to the NEC Friendly staff, especially in the Millers Restaurant It was not the hotels fault but I would not nor recommend anyone to stay if they had another Kitacom convention on. The people attending the event did not have any awareness of their surroundings or respect for other hotel guests. They constantly blocked communal areas, were loud, obnoxious and on one occasion racist by righting some horrendous words on the back of a poster. I saw one of your staff members find it, they looked so embarrassed and hurt I hope they reported it. Woke up both nights with them running through the corridors and shouting. Would suggest next time that you try not to put guest near them and try to keep them on a separate floor.

Staff really helpful everywhere from reception, bar and cleaning staff. Food a little expensive however was extremley nice. A group of people there from a company called Kittycom who ran around the hotel being really loud and not thinking of others there, staff did help though.

Proximity to the NEC is obviously a massive bonus. We enjoyed dinner at Millers, and I personally liked that there were multiple options for eating if you wanted a cheaper/ less formal option. The room was nice and clean, the shower was powerful. The TV signal was awful.

Upon checking in we were given a room, my wife and her friend went to the room we were allocated whilst the males went to the car for the suitcases etc. The ladies entered the room and there was a naked women stood at the end of the bed smoking. I do not come to expect this from Hilton hotels. Apart from this the hotel rooms were below standard despite the upgrade we received the rooms still needing decorating. With chips in the walls and frayed carpets. Overall i do not expect to stay at this hilton again and will consider other hotels before booking with hilton again.

Having stayed at Hilton Hotels in the past, I did realise that this one wasn't the usual Hilton standard, due to the cost. Although the reception and restaurants were very nice, I found the standard of the room quite poor. The cleanliness of the room was okay but not the high standard I expected and it was very tired, worn and in obvious need of redecorating. The beds were also extremely hard.
