Hilton CardiffKingsway, CF10 3HH Cardiff (Show map) Excellent, Score from 360 reviews“Before we married myself and my husband used to work in the same building when it was part of the inland revenue so holds special memories for us. It is good that the original design of the building has been kept. Our room was perfect for the occasion of my husbands 60th birthday. Beautiful view . Quiet. Comfortable and relaxing. Everything a hotel should be.”

Staff were very friendly and helpful and the inclusive facilities good. Breakfast was plentiful. The location was very convenient for where I needed to be in Cardiff. Rooms are looking worn and tired. Whilst the bed and bathroom were clean, around the edges and corners the room were not. There was even a pair of socks from a previous occupant by the side of the chair. They weren't exactly hidden from view so the cleaner obviously hadn't spent long checking the room! I got a good deal booking in advance, however I wouldn't pay the normal room rates as I don't think it's worth it.

Someone who was out with myself and my girlfriend pretended to be myself and was given a card key and room number and walked into our room at 5:30am, the person was not asked for identification or asked what room number was he supposed to be staying in. Not very professional!

Location, helpful staff.Rooms were well equipped but a bit bland and did not convey luxury . The breakfast was definately not up to a standard expected from a 5 star hotel. I had a better breakfast the following day in Aberystwyth Weatherspoons in terms of taste and presentation. Self service is fine at a hotel but the layout in the resteraunt for the cooked breakfast is poor and looks cheap, surely a better layout with easier access to food should be available. The utensils available to pick up the food had been used in many of the foods and ladeling mushrooms up with a baked bean covered spoon is not really appetising. The mustard pots had no spoons and when I asked for one the chef apologised but said it was Thursday !!! which I thought was a feeble excuse. I am not a fussy diner and do not look for faults when I stay in hotels ranging from Travel lodge to the Savoy etc in London, but I felt the breakfast experience was poor in fact very poor. At the start of the day I expect a good breakfast from a 5 star hotel and unfortunately this was definately not delivered. This would put me off staying at the Cardiff Hilton in future and I will revert back to other hotels such as the St Davids hotel/ Holland House etc. I did however appreciate the plate of choclates left in the room as I was celebrating my 50th birthday, this was unexpected and a very nice touch.

Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely room although not ready for 3pm as advised when booking. Hotel use off site parking at a cost of £17 per day. Alternate parking available just near hotel for £5 per day. Breakfast not included in deal yet vouchers available at reception if booked on arrival. Could have saved £10 if known this.

Central to the shops are cardiff international centre Our hotel room overlooked the main road, this was very busy at night with people returning from nightclubs and it was very noisy up to about 3am.

Good location, close to shops, castle and the indoor arena and millenium stadium.Comfortable room, bed was the best I've ever slept in, extremely cosy. Although it was very convenient to stay in a city centre hotel the noise was at times very intrusive and kept me awake most of the night. The bells ring on the hour so if you're a light sleeper you can wake up every single hour. Breakfast could be improved, the tea/coffee was always lukewarm and we had to ask for top ups of orange juice each day.My advice would be to serve the tea/coffee and toast to the guests and allow them to serve their own juices, breakfast selection etc. The queue for the toaster reminded me of being on holiday in an all inclusive hotel waiting for your turn!

The location for Cardiff city centre is excellent and the hotel has very good facilities including an executive lounge where breakfast, afternoon tea abd pre-dinner drinks and canapes are complimentary. The executive lounge is not big enough. Also had a charge on our account for an item arranged and paid for by our son. Poor organisation somewhere!

It was a really good weekend. The staff were very helpful and the facilities that we used of a good quality. The food was good and the lkocation very goood for our city centre shopping experience etc. If there was one thing and it is an increasing trend I find, it was that the waiters cleared the table before both of us finished eating. This may be the new way to stop tables looking cluttered but I was always told that the course should not be cleared until all/both of the eaters had finished. Having said that the waiters were very courteous.

We loved the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Although we weren't there long enough to use the gym it looked pretty good. The room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. We found the staff to be polite and helpful at all times Our only grumble would be the bar prices! £17.90 for one pint and one glass of wine we felt to be excessive! We would certainly stay at the Hilton Cardiff again but will not be drinking in the bar!

Location was excellent. We had a large room overlooking the castle and a very comfortable King Bed. The staff were very polite and helpful. It would be nice to have breakfast served, especially a five star.

The location was fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful - especially the cook who was preparing eggs at breakfast. While I was in line I listened to him serve each customer as though they were his first of the day and the most important in the room. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he had a lovely big smile. I did mention him on check out in the hope that he would be recognised for his outstanding work attitude. The design of the building was very interesting and the rooms were comfortable and of good size.

Having stayed at the dreadful Hilton in Leeds, the Hilton Cardiff restored my faith in the Hilton brand. The room was large and clean, the spa and pool area excellent, breakfast good and the other hotel guests weren't Neanderthals! Despite saying it was open until 9pm on bank holidays, the spa/pool area closed at 6pm

Excellent location for city centre Managed to get castleview room even though didnt pay upgrade which was emailed to me as an option week before the trip Spa and gym facilities although we didnt use Lady on reception very helpful when asking for directions £70/night good price for hilton.. Would have been disappointed if paid 5 star prices for id say 3 star hotel!! Good size walk in shower and bathtub too No tea making facilities in room Overpriced minibar... £3.95 for litre bottle of water.. £2 for can of coke! Kingsize bed was actually 2 singles so could feel gap between mattresses No heating and aircon temperture control was tempermental Overpriced parking of concierge parking £17/night Wallpaper torn and scuff marks in room and hallway, need to update decor Day of departure housekeeping knocked on door at 8:45am!! Then knocked again an hour later! Ok should have put a do not disturb sign up but surely they should come only when we have checked out!! Chipped soap dish in bathroom Safety deposit box not working Ok all minor things but not what you would expect from a 5 star rated hotel!! I wouldnt stay here if your looking for a 5 star experience!! Premier inn good enough if not better for £29/night or big sleep hotel is highly recommended!!

The central locality of the hotel is excellent, as all shops, theatre, restaurants, etc. are right on your doorstep. Even on the 7th floor, the noise from party-goers leaving pubs and clubs can be heard into the early hours of the morning.

Travelled from Canada to visit our son & wife. Told him to meet us in lounge on 7th floor. After not seeing them for a year we are instantly told on their arrival that his wife will have to sit on a chair in the hall as we are only allowed to have one guest in the lounge. No class shown by the staff in that situation expecially as I was staying ( and Paying ) for the business floor. Ray Morrissey
