poor signs in dunkeld
Location food very good
Furniture in dining room needs replaced. Reception need more staff general makeover needed.
A return visit to a lovely comfortable family room with modern decor - not at all tired looking - and a great view to the front of the hotel. Facilities wonderful, staff friendly and helpful - happy to engage with a chatty 8 year old - which always helps!
No faults to report with our visit.
Dunkeld offers an opportunity to relax in wonderful surroundings. It is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy a short break. There are, from time to time, some good deals available.
Unable to access wi fi in some parts of hotel.
The patio door runner was filthy. For a deluxe room the furnishings were very ordinary and because of this we felt it was very expensive.
Attention to detail by staff was excellent professional but friendly very welcoming. A great place to escape to,chill out and relax but close to many attractions if you wished . Food was good as always. Third time staying here and has never disappointed so will be returning again
Bed on first night was not good mattress springs had gone BUT all credit to staff this was replaced without any drama when we reported it just a shame previous guest didn't or not noticed by staff. Minor issue tho as very quickly and speedily resolved.
Wonderful setting by the river. our trip was for fishing and country pursuits and so it was the perfect location. The public areas of the Hotel were very good but the bedrooms a little bit tired and gloomy.
There was a lack of communication with restaurant staff when we were expected in late in the evening (9.30)- the result being that we had to go without dinner that night as the chef refused to cook for us, despite there being advertised a 24hr room service with main meals until 10pm! Also, many of the bedrooms are very gloomy as they look straight into a bank of high trees.
hilton dunkeld is a lovley hotel set in spectacular surroundings with very friendly staff
some parts of hotel a little tired, but the staff and location more than make up for this
porter saving us a 2 mile walk into Dunkeld & offering to come back & get us - pure fluke we met him & he offered - but all credit he did & it saved us huge amount of time walking If you were staying there & not planning going into Dunkeld for night out (i.e. not taking car) then a lovely location. Just dont end up in room 141 :-)
Biggest issue was room 141 was noisy - generator type noise all through the night Shower not fit for purpose - very weak & you couldn't get under spray No water in room - an error by the housekeeping staff Inadvertantly booked dbb in error - didnt have dinner (didnt realise it was included) then no rebate offered - my fault entirely - oh well
Good location and grounds Kids enjoyed the swimming pool
The hotel is generally tired and in need of a make-over
Location. It is situated beside the river in beautiful country-side. The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good...plenty of it and freshly cooked even for a late breakfast. The evening meal was good.
The position and layout of room was not great. I had asked for an accessible room and in retrospect would have preferred one which was reached by lift rather than on the ground floor. Our groundfloor room overlooked a car park and necessitated in pulling down the blinds and closing the curtains. ( why not have a net curtain which would allow light in the room). I ahd to ask for a light bulb to be put in one of the lamps and there was a problem with one of the power points which cut out when I was using the hairdryer. I had asked for another room but was told there were none avalaible even though at least a dozen people checked in about 30 mins after me There was no bottled water in the room and the mini-bar is not in operation. It is not a 4* hotel in every respect and is over-priced. On checking out I expressed my opinion when asked and was given a discount on the room price.. This was very much appreciated as I feel the new price I paid more adequately reflected the services offered.
Location is beautiful Beautiful old house
The stunning location on the banks of the Tay. The walks in the beautiful surrounding area. The service in the hotel. A great place to relax and recharge.
The setting was good and within easy drive of Perth. Reception and waiting staff very good and cleaning was a good standard. Booked early evening meals as dining room was very busy later. Food was good.
Wait at bar before dinner. First evening barman was very pleasant. Second evening waited considerable time to order drinks and was then told by a female to sit down and they would come for our order. It was a different barman and he was making cocktails. Time passed and other parties arrived at the bar and were served by the barman whilst we continued to wait. I queried this with the waitress who informed me that these people had been outside waiting for drinks and had moved inside. The barman then shouted over that he was very busy and was making cocktails. We wished to order champage to celebrate a birthday. Due to delay we did not. A coach party of guests arrived shortly after we were seated, so not sure how the barman coped with that. Insufficient staff to cope, resulted in a delay which has then cost the hotel money as we did not order the champagne.
Nice location good leisure facilities and excellent restaurant with good service
Standard double room was of poor decor for 4 star hotel in need of updating we upgraded to mini suite for additional £20 per night which was good standard as expected of hilton
Love the location and staff are very helpful
Had problems with room that we got put into were not nice and not clean but it got sorted out in the end
Set in lovely location, good food, great cocktail bar man friendly reception staff
Room nothing special looked like it needed renovating, a bit like parts of the hotel although the bed was comfortable. Staff were a strange mixture sometimes slow, forgetful & made a few mistakes with drinks/dinner service. but still polite.
the location was lovely and the hotel and staff great
my partner is dairy intolerant and it took us talking to four of the serving staff and the maitre D who had put a note on the computer for dinner that evening to get the message across. That was our only gripe. despite us asking no butter, no milk no cream..the fish was saved up with garlic butter on it! Apart from that the food quality was excellent.
The downstairs part of the hotel was by far much nicer than the upstairs which was in need of a makeover. Very unflattering bedrooms. However, the large regency style dining room was lovely, pianist adding a nice touch. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and the walk into Dunkeld along the river bank was stunning. The location really does it for this otherwise tired and dowdy hotel.
Dull, plain bedrooms and bathrooms were uninspiring and in dire need of a makeover. Most certainly not worth almost £200 per night.
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, decent food.
Hotel very shabby and run down, very poor sleep due to noisy inconsiderate wedding guests, needing to upgrade rooms so noise isn't so much of an issue or seperate wedding parties so that they don't disturb those paying a fortune for a quiet relaxing weekend away.
Loved the location on the stunning river Tay and characterful Town of Dunkeld.
Thought the hotel looked a little tired and needed a make over .
We attended a large wedding and the staff were excellent. The food was nice and served hot. The turnaround after the meal was good and everything went very well.
Fire alarm around 0730.
Location and staff first class
Tired property with very poor wifi.
setting was wonderful food was excellent room was first class staff were quietly efficient
bed not the comfiest hotel needing a refurb
Have stayed here before, and would recommend this hotel highly. Beautiful location, and stunning hotel. Bedroom with balcony was a plus. Had an excellent meal, as always, and good breakfast. Staff were all pleasant and helpful......can't wait to come back again.
