The Roof didn't leak!
No Gin in the bar for 2 days. Couldn't get a coffee after 9pm. Chargeing for car parking. Rusty bathrooms and burn marks on carpet. Free wi fi for non residents but not in the room.
Blood stains on the bed sheets
A very pleasant stay, staff were friendly and helpful. The carpark was akways available, and the reception area was inviting, with coffee & drinks bar and a large open flame style gas fire. The room was comfortable and well equipped.
The carpark was confusing on arrival, it's a pay for carpark, however no mention of this when you book, or the fact that it's free of charge to guests staying in the hotel. The corridors to the rooms are starting to look very tired, & so was our bathroom. The extraction fan didn't work, so using a mirror when bathing was impossible.
Comfort of rooms
Too expensive to add meals, breakfast, would like to see this to be at a fair rate, not rip off
Staff and greeting were excellent. leisure club was good and everywhere was clean
the lounge area was FREEZING. It was so cold we had something to eat then went to bed to get warm. Everyone around was shivering and no one stayed long. We would have stopped for drinks if we hadn't been frozen.
The staff, reception and restaurant, were excellent. The room was large, too large really, well furnished, lots of freebies in the bathroom! A pity the sofa faced the back of the desk chair and not the TV fixed on the wall half-way down the room! The fantastic breakfast nearly made up for all the faults but not quite!
Charging for parking where there is no other means of access to the hotel is daylight robbery. Totally unnecessary. It is not the price, it is the principle. Some fancy TV equipment is available right next to you at your table in the restaurant for you to plug things into. I couldn't really see the need for it there, most unsociable. However, there is no Wifi available in your room where you need it. And, the TV system is very antiquated - few channels and no guide for instance. I saw no mention in any blurb that there is no lift. If I had known, I would have asked for a ground-floor room or gone elsewhere. These days, this is not acceptable. I like a firm bed but this bed is the wrong side of firm. My wife hardly slept all night because it was so uncomfortable. Yes, the hotel is right in the corner of the A34/M4 junction roundabout but cleaning staff need to be told to shut the secondary double-glazing. I didn't realise it was there until the morning and that was too late. My fault for not looking I suppose but it's a long time since I have seen secondary double glazing in a "posh" hotel! I stayed in a similar hotel the previous weekend for £30 less and it was far better value. Hilton are charging for their name but not delivering the goods.
Reception staff were very helpful. Room was very clean.
Breakfast Pool spacious room
the proximity from the motorway, the confortable lounge in which to read the paper, the friendly staff
the food provided for lunch was very mediocre, only warm and far too spicy.
Bes in room springs had broken, reported but nothing done!!!! Staff in lounge and bar area had little customer skills, ie. left tables full of glasses and food plates on them and when asked to clear them just a space was cleared for us to use and not the whole table ?
price of wines
Location Facilities Food Bed
Shower controls were broken. No hot water for shower. Only realised at 7am. When I informed the staff I was told that I should have let them know! What? So at 7am whilst in my pants I should have told them. How could they have fixed it without me being late???!!
Really nice hotel you cannot get a signal for the sat/nav vodaphone hq is just down the road from you I am sure if you have a word with them they will help you £14 for a burger
What sort of price is that burgerking in the services are much cheaper I have worked in hotels in the past and that is what they charge in london and your wi-fi £6 an hour ? to much money
Location. This split our journey in two and it was foul weather that night
Pillows and duvet were feather (although treated). Hotel staff did change them, but I would have expected the Hilton chain to have at least identical features to Holiday Inn in this respect
Quiet location yet close to transport links and motorway. Restaurant very good with good service.
Not too easy to locate initially.
After a long drive and very tired the room was twenty two minutes late
It was ok just think the rooms corriders etc could do with an up lift.
The condition of the corridors and rooms very tired considering it is under the hilton brand.
Swimming Pool Reception staff very welcoming
Sofa bed was not that comfortable for an adult to sleep on. There was no duvet for the sofa bed.
reception staff was excellent
meals in restaurant the same each day , we had a menu but then it was changed so we had bar meals as nothing meet our requirements but if was staying more than two days we would have to go else where to dine , to which other Hilton hotels restaurants have been excellent , also the bathroom bin was not clean outside and on documents it said robes and slippers in room but we never received neither but as only there for two days didn't make a problem of this .
Polite staff. Nice breakfast with great variety. Clean swimming.
Toilet handle was broken when we arrived. Didn't work at all by the next morning!! Swimming lessons in pool so only half of pool could be used by customers - were not informed of this when booking. Room description said wine and chocolates but no chocolates were received. Beds were uncomfortable. We felt that for the level of comfort etc that we paid over the odds for the room!!!!!
comfortable bed & pillows
Very easy to find and proximity to Oxford meant we could go there for the day.
The room was a bit cold
Comfortable, well appointed room and bathroom. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
No lift. Extra charge for car parking. Why? Hotel 5 miles from Newbury on its own campus off slip road to M4. No other buildings in sight. However when I complained receptionist removed item from bill.
Loved the sauna and pool. Lovely communal area. Fantastic breakfast. Excellent night's sleep.
The bar was rather pricey at £9.10 for a pint of Murphy's and a glass of wine. Shower products may have caused a mild allergic reaction. Some signs of wear and tear in the decoration of the room.
All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. The lounge was comfortable and the rooms soundproofed against the traffic of the M4. The breakfast was also very good - plenty of choice between hot and cold preferences .
Not coming off the M4, we found it difficult to find but that was probably our fault.
