Room bar and chandelier
The location of the hotel is perfect and over all the facilities were fantastic.
For the first time staying here the room was dirty and the bed and pillows were awful. I'm really surprised as usually it's fantastic.
The bed was extremely comfortable and despite a dual carriageway outside it was very peaceful
It was a long way out of town and without your own transportation you'd have to take a taxi every where. Also it was a bit nippy in the room even with air conditioning on full
We only stayed there as we were on a business trip and needed somewhere to sleep and they had free parking, and we (wrongly) assumed being a Hilton it would be a quality hotel.
1. We were asked on checkin if we wanted to "pre-authorise our credit card for room service". What? We have stayed in many hotels in many countries, including Hiltons, and never heard of having to "pre-authorise" room service. When I asked why cant we just add room service onto our bill and pay it all when we leave, we were told that was not possible. If we wanted room service we had to "pre-authorise" it. 2. When we got to the room it stank of mould. My wife said she thought it was more like ammonia. Later I came to the conclusion it was a rotting smell from the bathroom plughole. If we werent so tied we would have asked to change rooms. 3. We decided to buy a movie to watch in the room, but found it was 'disabled' as that had to be pre-authorised as well, unlike other hotels where it just gets added onto your room bill. We were going to get room service dinner for 2 and watch a movie, but instead we just went to sleep and checked out early and will never go back to the Hilton Reading, nor recommend it to any business contacts.
Clean, new hotel.
It's in the middle of nowhere and the taxi driver told me that everyone he takes to this hotel is disappointed when they see the location. Also, the food I had in the bar/restaurant was disappointing, but I was stuck there as there weren't any restaurants within walking distance. I watched a guy in the bar wait one hour for his food and he asked several of the waitstaff about it, but no one did anything. They just said they'd check on it.
The room was quiet and peaceful.
The bed wasn't very comfortable. But Cosy quilt and pillows
Free parking Breakfast range Room size and cleanliness Everything really
Told no coffee at the bar at midnight? This was brought to the attention of staff on checkout
The hotel has a lot of space and the bar area is welcoming. Room is a good size. Convenient for M4 and university.
The food was very average and the choice of wine by the glass was limited. The gym is cramped and not very well equiped.
Great sandwiches and coffee at the bar.
TV was not working properly and limited channels. No biscuits provided with tea facilities Receptionist resisted policing disabled parking. Several spaces were occupied by vehicles without blue badges..
choice of menu for breakfast
no soap in the bathroom! Lack of seating in the Windsor suite for buffet lunch and coffe breaks
Service was good and food great
The bed was uncomfortable because of a spring issue probably the worst nights sleep I have us for a long time
Great experience, ultimate comfort
Food in a restaurant was overpriced
Nice hotel modern and conveniently located
Ridiculous cost of wifi which virtually all comparable hotels provide free
A good, clean, comfortable hotel with all the facilities you would expect for the price.
Never been a fan of the buffet breakfast
Excellent breakfast Good swimming pool (even though it could be cleaner) excellent bed Nice light kind staff
Our note that we needed a child's bed in our room didn't get to reception. Housekeeping had already left and we had to wait over 30 minutes to have a bed for a our five year old child (it was 9:30 pm).
The room was clean and the staff friendly.
The bed was uncomfortable, the WiFi expensive (£14.95 per day!) and there were no staff on the desk in the gym when I first arrived.
Clean and comfortable room with helpful staff
No free wifi. Cost of water in the room
Comfy, large bed. Helpful staff.
£15 per day for wifi is excessive on a £119 bed only room rate
Have stayed before and breakfast has definitely improved. Great bed, great pool, great food, great stay !
Late Dec so hotel was pretty empty. Everything was perfect, no complaints. Good breakfast and room rate.
Missed my 4boys
very helpful staff and very good value for money will use again.
Generously sized bedroom and bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Friendly, efficient and welcoming staff.
Slightly damaged curtain which left a small gap at the top was just a very minor irritant.
We had a great welcome, and because they were so quiet, we even got an upgraded room (even though we didn't ask for it). We also got two complementary drinks vouchers with the upgrade which was awesome. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and importantly, they weren't too attentive - I find that quite off putting, so they struck the perfect balance. Bed was very comfortable - slept VERY well. Great location for the Madejski stadium - about a 15 minute stroll. Dinner at the Larder was lovely! I can really recommend the ribeye steak. Breakfast was really lovely - a great choice of pastries and cooked breakfast buffet and all very good quality. The thing that impressed me the most with the breakfast though was the selection of fresh fruit. You usually end up with just lots of grapefruit or orange segments, but this was a really nice selection. There was also a really nice selection of toiletries. Costa coffee on site is a massive bonus!
If I had to choose something, it would be that the mugs in the room were a little on the small side and there were no hot chocolate sachets. This is exceptionally picky though. The shower wasn't fantastic - I couldn't change the setting to make it more of a stream. Again, this is pretty picky.
