The hotel is a lovely welcoming hotel nice rooms good breakfast good place to eat in the evening all round good hotel,
Nice restaurant, good location
In need of some refurbishment, no staff on reception, had to wait for booking in and out.
Restaurant was lovely, and staff were freindly. Garden was also lovely. Despite the condition of the room the weekend was not spoilt by this as it was a fantastic location, and nice people.
Room was cold and there was mould on the ceiling in the bedroom area and the bathroom. the paper on the cieling was falling off. the floor felt like it was going to give way at any time, as it creeked and squeeked, i am not sure i would want the room underneath.
It had a very peaceful and carm feel to the room. Bed was very comfortable and relaxing. Staff very friendly Food was good and served fast. Would stay again 5 stars
Only 1 breakfast a bit small. But lovely
Friendly helpful staff Lovely food
Rooms are tatty Bathroom had broken loo handle shower curtains let all the water go onto the bathroom floor broken soap dispenser lying on side of the bath bathroom above kitchens and very strong smell of fried food in the bathroom and bedroom Lots of dust on surfaces lorry unloading under my bedroom window from 5.30am
Stayed 3 or 4 times recently and always found to be good in every aspect, staff, food, room, except this time I was in an adjoining building.
Stayed in Rm 20 in adjoining block. Compared to rooms in main hotel this was a little dark, cold, noisy as near kitchens and bathroom not so clean ( soap dispensers off the wall ) and plumbing made continuous noise all night.
The staff were friendly and everyone had a smile on there face.
Nothing I didn't like as it was all good.
Poor standards of repair in bedrooms
Nice restaurant, quaint old sprawling and unique building
The constant activity and "buzz" when I had expected it to be very quiet
The stairs to room 18----nothing much you can do about this.
The fact they nearly cancelled our bridal suite room 5 days before our wedding , we swapped with other guests in our wedding party and they were given a smaller room ,, no apology and no compensation for the stress a few dsys before our wedding , no discount , not even a token bottle of bubbly in ouf rooms for the inconvenience even though I had booked 8 rooms here for our wedding party and 1room for 3 nights for some family members . Very disappointing .
the staff helpfull friendly excellent service in restaurant .food fantastic.
didnt like our room attall very dark and dismal .i asked for no stairs so they put us in an old annexe and there was a flight of stairs and there was also steps up to the shower!!the television was on the wall and we both ended up with stiff necks so couldnt watch the football it should be located at eye level.most dissapointed overall with the room!!!
Beautifull location at a super price for a family. Very confy bed!
Bathroom shelf was full of dust. But the main problem was our room was right by the kitchen fans which kept us awake as we needed our window open as it was very hot. But other that that everything was good.
Service at breakfast was poor and dead flies in the drinking glasses and on the windowsill was enough to put me off.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced
Hotel looks very tired and dirty in places e.g. net curtains in rooms with remains of dead insects, "sticky" tables in the dining room. Chair in room was broken and unsteady.
size of bedroom and bathroom
Bedroom was above kitchen, it was hot and stuffy in the bedroom and when we opened the window all we could hear was a extractor fan which was in use all night
The event I attended was enjoyable .
Cracked bedroom window, smoke alarm went off when opened the window. Ivy growing through window frame. Shabby amateur interior with bodged fixes. Overall I was very unimpressed with the standard vs the price.
M WIFE AND I ENJOYED OUR STAY AND WILL STAY THERE AGAIN
the way they sorted a minor problem out with minimum fuss. will return again
the hotel has character - very attractive bar and restaurant areas and outdoor setting - good food. location particularly good for us personally (re family) as well as for accessing countryside or Merryhill. We are very fond of Himley House Hotel because all the staff have always been so friendly and attentive.
The bedroom had all main facilities but just seemed in need of some refurbishment and attention to minor details - eg. peeling wallpaper, hook missing from back of bathroom door, no toilet brush, soap container empty and looks utilitarian, bulb not working in lamp.
Friendly staff. Nice 4 poster!
Having to get own tea and coffee at breakfast. Would have been much nicer if it was served
Upon arrival the room allocated was facing the very busy main road, which was very noisy. We requested a change and the staff were extremely helpful and we were moved within 20 minutes to a more comfortable room. Our 3 night stay was very enjoyable, every staff member was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was value for money and good quality and we would stay here again.
The early timing for breakfast between 7am and 9am.
Efficiency and kindness from staff
Unfortunately I was unable to actually stay as booked because there is no lift in this hotel (which I wasn't aware of) and all ground floor rooms were already booked. However the hotel was extremely helpful and found me a room at a nearby hotel as I am unable to use stairs because of arthritis. I believe this to be above and beyond good service and I will make sure I ask for a ground floor next time I visit.
