good facilities friendly helpful staff
Historical building, great food, friendly staff
Bed a bit soft
Fan in bathroom going all night unable to switch off.very noisy making sleep very harf
Our room was quet.
It was the wrong hotel and was pub food ie 'Boil In the Bag'
It was very close to where the course I was attending - Ward House Himley Park. Bathroom very well appointed and clean. Breakfast was good.
Windows were dirty and rather stiff in the room. Although the bed was comfortable, the bedding had a musty smell.
Conveniently located for my event
Old fashioned musty damp room. Extremely dark room so couldn't see to do hair and make up. The worst reception ever seen. Bare, dark un welcoming. Terrible breakfast. Never have I stayed anywhere that can't even offer a fresh cup of tea. It was a flask of hot water which was not hot and coffee flask had run out and wasn't replaced. Nothing fresh packet pastries . Very little cereal and only children's style such as coco pops. Would never stay again and at £73 for 1 night I expected more.
Food was of a reasonable standard
The room was cold and dirty with a musty smell in the room and corridors.
The bed The food was incredible
Staff very friendly excellent value
blocked drain run down quality
The room I stayed in exclusive room £60 a night and no different to the other rooms, apart from a bit bigger and there's a Stain glass window
Central to relatives/friends/ bank / stores. All staff very friendly and obliging. Evening meals good quality. Room is a bit rustic but, as I mentioned last year, it was never intended to be a hotel when it was built. However, my stay was comfortable.
Telephone system is not well set up to transfer incoming calls to rooms. (switchboard not always occupied). However the rooms are now equipped with WiFi so I will try to use this next year instead of the phone.
Everything apart from
Position of TV. Plug in bath difficult to remove
The score of poor for sleep was because of the constant noise from the extractor fans on the flat roof outside the windows of room number 5. We couldn't block it out as the bathroom windows couldn't be closed also the squeaky door on the bathroom didn't help. So after a very early start, a very busy day, and very little sleep we were exhausted for our journey home.
Good room, good food and excellent staff.
Staff, particularly in the restaurant, were very friendly and helpful. We had a standard room, a little jaded, but clean and comfortable. The food was very good too, and not expensive.
The king size bed
Lot of noise through windows from nearby main road traffic.
Everything about our overnight stay was good. Great touch being able to read about hotels history. Great parking. Lovely clean towels and bedding. Hope to visit again.
Seeing such a lovely place needing some TLC in places.
Staff were pleasent and friendly, rooms spacious and comfortable,
Breakfast was extra, and a bit expensive for what you had £7.99 extra .
Great food and simple but quaint rooms. Good value will be staying again.
Room got very warm during evening and had to open window during the night.
The beds were comfortable The bedding was clean, with crisp clean white cotton sheets. Clean beds are so very important to me and my family. The towels were soft, fluffy, white and clean. The bathroom was big and clean Tea & Coffee facilities were available too. It's nice being able to have a cuppa after a long journey or long day. Food in restaurant was superb! I would definitely go back there for the food and for the bedrooms and I would recommend this place to others. At the minute the hotel is undergoing a face lift, but it will be lovely throughout once it's complete.
It's obvious that this hotel is having a facelift, by the fact there is scaffolding up at the front of hotel and that painting work was being done on the back exterior when we arrived. It's just a shame they aren't advertising this fact on signs because it would have been easy to get paint on anyone's clothes, especially children. But my biggest dislike was the reception, downstairs and upstairs hallways including stair cases, they were all dark and dirty looking with walls all scuffed and in desperate need of work on them, plus the carpets in these areas needed changing drastically, especially the stairs and landing carpets, they look old from a different era, plus not a lot of natural light available and that makes it look darker. I really do hope that the reception is next on the list though to get the face lift because my first impression when I saw it was, god I hope the rooms are cleaner than this, I hope I haven't made a mistake, because I had booked 3 rooms for 6 guests and I was already stressing that I only had 45 mins to get into rooms, get changed and get to Wolverhampton for my sons graduation. So seeing the reception freaked me out a little more. Plus I also believe that reception staff who are representing the hotel that they are working for, should be wearing a form of uniform with a name badge and that their appearance should be smart and tidy. First impressions are imperative. Plus an unorganised and inefficient reception desk can also be the beginning of the end of a hotel too. I got handed a bill for the rooms only. When I questioned why I was only paying for the room considering 6 of us ate in the restaurant the night before, plus we had a bottle of champagne. The receptionist was shocked and then asked me, can you remember what you all ate, what you all drank and the name of the bottle of champagne? I looked at her and said really? She apologised then walked off into the restaurant.
The building had history. It had a good atmosphere, nice gardens, good food.
In some parts the hotel needs a major upgrade. Some windows clearly needed replacing and the floorboards were so squeeky - but then again the hotel is very old!
quaint English accommodation great menu at reasonable prices quiet location
The staff in all areas were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The area for the wedding reception was beautiful.
We felt the outside of the building could do with painting and the garden needed some attention.
Breakfast the food was good
The fact that breakfast was selfservice. The wedding meal, the chicken was good, the vegatables were undercooked. The soap dispensers in the room were very hard to use.
