The Shaftesbury Kensington

Clean & efficient. We had a cheap package and got a room in the basement, which was surprisingly good for a room in the basement but still a room in the basement (without window or natural light). The door did not keep noise on the corridor out well enougn, but otherwise basements are wonderfully quiet.

Location was excellent being a 2 min walk from Earl's Court tube station, price was fair compared to theres in the area.

Staff need to smile more, food was rubbish and room was tiny with no view.

It was good. The staff was very cordial and though the double room was a little cramped, the bathroom facilities were excellent.

It took 2 phone calls to reception and 30min wait for towels and no one seemed too worried when I reported a rat running around the corridors. Also the layout of the basement and ground floor rooms are confusing, easy to get a little lost.

Booked deluxe double. Extremely comfortable and very close to Earls Court underground. Spotlessly clean and reception staff very pleasant and efficient. We paid £75 for our one night stay and was more than pleased.

It was a bad experience - on arrival we were told maintenance problems meant no room was available but we would be transfered by taxi to another hotel where a room had been booked. But second hotel denied any booking had been made so checked with a third hotel - again no luck! Having wasted 2 hours returned to the Shaftesbury where no proper explanation was available but surprise surprise a room had been found. Hotel tried to redeem situation by an room upgrade , 30% refund and free breakfast but will not return.

I found the hotel very convenient for my business meetings and was very impressed by the standard of the room although the air conditioning was not effective enough as I had it at the lowest setting and the room was still too hot but overall a very good stay

Room was nicely furnished and bigger than previous stays. Staff very helpful and great location.

The bed was the narrowest single bed I have every seen and needed to be to get in the small room! Also in the middle of the night I went to the bathroom, as I turned the light on to find a cockroach running across the floor!!!!!

Good location very close to Earl Court station which is easy to get from most underground lines, lovely looking hotel inside and out, bar/restuarant looked nice but we didn't use it. Staff friendly, good rates, very clean.

Room had damage to the wall and a sensor by the air con ,stuck to the ceiling with silver gaffer tape, looked unproffesional, the tv was faulty as the picture continually went from light to dark and room was like a sauna with air con going no lower than 18 degrees and no window as put in a basement room, but it was cheap

Staff were helpful , room wonderfully clean and quiet. Breakfast fare was well cooked, with lots of choice.

Each time I have stayed here, the breakfast table always had something missing, like a spoon, a cup and saucer, etc I had to ask for replenishment, or steal from another table. This lack has been consistent over four visits. It is the only drawback.
