Beautiful house and gardens. Very friendly staff. We were accommodated in a garden room which needed a total upgrade, it must have had a major flood at some point as there was a terrible smell of damp and mildew in the room. Beware the £70 rooms !!

The setting of the hotel was very pleasant and the entrance hall and reception rooms were homely and comfortable. Staff were very pleasant The rooms were dated and in need of redecoration. Damp patches on ceilings and feeling paint. Absolutely no sound proofing between rooms. We felt the couple in the next room were actually sharing our room with us. Leisure facilities were very dated in great need of decoration and updating. Felt extremely sorry for the the staff of the Hotel. Especially in the leisure complex and so called spa. The towels that were handed to us were a complete joke with frayed edges, they were so old and tattered that they had reduced almost to the size of a hankerchief. Whether this hotel is privately owned or not there are lots of points that need addressing.

Nice Gym and pool , old style rooms but well presented . Bar in the conservatory closed at 9.30 . The other hotel bar was in a corridor and lacked atmosphere.

One of the surprising hotels I have ever seen. Outside it looks outdated and not very attractive but inside .... Well that's another story. This hotel is a completely different level. Each item, from the shower bench next to the coal stove is the best quality and most pleasant design. Wonderful team. An amazing experience. Wonderful hotel. if you look for somthing diferent.thats the place.i forgot they they like manard dogs. thanks.Lior ISRAEL

The bed was very comfortable The room was tired and pokey. It was on the top floor and had water stains on the ceiling and wall. The furniture looked dated and there was a water leak which meant that the shower did not work and we had no water until 10am in the morning. We needed to shower before getting ready to go to a wedding. At beakfast, the toast was served cold, and some of the staff seemed to lack pride in their work, they were not well dressed, and in all the experience was very average...

Perfect location for our weekend plans. At all costs people should avoid the £70 classic rooms which are rooms in the converted stable block. There was the remain of a leak in the ceiling with a very poor repaid job on the paintwork, a dripping tap, and paper thin walls so we heard next doors dog barking most of the night. The receptionist seemed oblivious to our concerns, yet having now looked back at old reviews the same concerns were being raised in May 11.

The staff were all very friendly, helpful and professional. It was great to be able to walk trough the hotel in a gown to the spa! Breakfast very good indeed. So much character, we thoroughly enjoyed two days here. The decor in the hotel is very 'country house' and delightful generally, tho' a bit bonkers in places (acres of thick peach gloss paint and opaque windows in the room). Although clean, the wallpaper was ever so tatty in places.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and tradiional. There is ample tea/coffee making facilities which are replenished daily. The gardens are beautiful. The property needs refurbishing in places. The toilet in our room took an age to refil after use. The restaurant is very expensive and limited. Drinks are expensive - £5.50 for a glass of wine.

Nothing The room was a disgrace. It was damp and grubby. There had been water damage previously that had not been repaired afterward. Beds were 2 singles pushed together but nothing to hold them together. The grounds were scruffy, the carpark for the 'garden rooms' was more like an old farmyard. The bathroom was 'tired' and in need of update.

We booked to stay here while in Somerset for a friend's wedding. From the moment I made the booking the service was great; they contacted me to book us a table for dinner and a massage in the Spa during our stay. A taxi was booked to meet us from the station, and we enjoyed an amazing "breakfast in bed" which we actually had out in the beautiful garden via our French windows! Nice touch with bathrobes and slippers. Great shower! Lovely spa. All in all very impressed, and got a great deal on here so good value also.

Hotel had impressive building & decor. The food was excellent, though a little too pricey. Rooms were large & clean. The service was good. Liaison/communication between staff could be improved. Information was not shared at times between evening/daytime staff.

The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size We had to make a late booking because of a problem at our original hotel. Confirmation had not reached reception when we arrived but it was sorted and we were quoted a price for bed and breakfast which was higher than our original room only price which we accepted. In the morning we were told we weren't booked for breakfast, there was no table but we could eat in the morning room. We declined and went to check out where we were quoted the increased rate of the previous night. When I pointed out we had not had breakfast I was told ' Well you wouldn't at that rate!' I was 'allowed' to pay the quoted Bookings room rate and the increased rate was explained away as a misunderstanding by the night staff. Not impressed as travelling with a starving 13 year old.
