The hotel has a very pleasant atmosphere, being a very old house, yet tastefully modernised. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was cosy and the staff attentive without being intrusive. We enjoyed a lovely meal. Our waiter was particularly helpful in giving us directions for our trip the following day. Despite the hotel being very busy with a wedding party the service given to the other guests did not suffer. We would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return. It has character and the grounds are very pleasant.

Tucked away to make it private, 'olde worlde', and very attractive. Choice of food in the restaurant is good, but presentation/quality is not as good as it was a few years ago. Attention to detail is not as sharp as it was, and breakfast was particularly 'lax'. Nevertheless, we did enjoy our brief stay, and we will visit HH again.

Quirky period design - the lounge and dining areas were very relaxing and appealing. Excellent restaurant with attentive and knowledgable staff who recommended choices. Reception staff really efficient and all the admin/paperwork was done 'behind the scenes'. Would probably like to experience this hotel when a wedding wasn't on - and would have liked some warning that the party had pretty much booked up the hotel. The snug room was exactly that, and although clean and comfortable, not convinced it was worth the price.

The bed was amazing!!!!!! The room was large and very comfortable. There was only one small thing that I can think of-The hot water from the bath tap was not very hot. The shower was the perfect temperature but for some reason, I got not have a hot bath-more luke warm.

A well run hotel with staff who were polite and helpful. Excellent dining, bar and public spaces. Have stayed several times, and probably the most comfortable of any hotel in the area. Needs a car/taxi from the centre of Halifax, but benefits from its gardens.

Excellent staff, very friendly and welcoming. Nice lounge area The meal was over priced. The superior room I booked was hardly superior, tiny tv, small bed. An ordinary room with a few small touches.

Very friendly & helpful staff. Good breakfast, but most importantly they emailed me to tell me that I'd left my mobile phone behind! Being on the ground floor I couldn't (safely) leave the windows open to air the room, but I guess that's not really a reflection on the hotel itself - just room allocation. That said it might be useful if ground floor windows were fitted with security latches that allowed airing, yet kept the room secure. The worst thing was the apparent use of some kind of (cheap?) air freshener in the alley-way and in the room. It was really nauseating!

The original part of the hotel is very atmospheric. The single room I occupied had a limited view of hedgerows and no shelving for storage of underwear, socks etc.

Lovely staff at reception, cosy olde worlde feel to it, lovely room Had to request towels as only one set in the room - Very poor evening meal - the lasagne was not cooked pasta in one whole sheet on the top - requested another. This again was of poor quality and was not finished however nobody came near us so when plates collected no point in explaining as the other 2 diners had finsished their meal, We are aware of at least one other person returning hers also - Very disaappointing

The staff at this Hotel are outstandingly good and set highly professional standards - yet effortlessly, and within a very friendly atmosphere. This Country House Hotel is spotlessly clean, and both the interior and exterior decor are very attractive. We were kindly upgraded to a very comfortable and quiet four poster room, and away from a large and very happy wedding taking place in a totally separate suite away from the other guests. We enjoyed an extremely well cooked and presented Dinner which, although a little expensive ( Saturday night Menu) was, nevertheless, very enjoyable. In spite of a "false alarm" fire bell at 7.30am, and the subsequent rush for breakfast, the staff coped admirably with patience and good humour and everyone we spoke to, including the wedding guests, highly praised the Hotel. A really pleasant place to stay - Go and enjoy it !!

I stayed at the hotel for a wedding. The staff there were amazing. So friendly and accomodating, they would do anything to help you! Nothing, it was beautiful. I had never heard of the hotel before and thought I had gone wrong as I was driving there. However when you pull down the driveway it is such a nice suprise!

Holdsworth House Hotel is a charming, historical property with wonderful gardens. The restaurant was quaint and the food good. We used it as a stop-off point en-route from our holiday to home and it fitted this bill perfectly. It was also good that the hotel had a few single rooms at a reasonable rate. Sadly, the route to the hotel (very commercial buildings) left us wondering what was in store but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Obviously this is something over which you have no control.

Your excellent staff and the relaxed atmosphere. After a hectic day at work, I was able to wind down in pleaseant surroundings. All staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and efficient. Checking in & out was perfect and at meal-times, I felt that nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended to all.
