This stunning hotel feels a world away from the bustle of every day life, yet is located just 15 minutes from the M62, north of Halifax.

Holdsworth House, which was built in 1633, retains all its period features. There are richly polished panelled walls, open log fires and many hidden delights such as the romantic grade II listed gazebo, which overlooks the pretty walled courtyard. The interior of the old house with its oak beams and oil paintings has a warm and welcoming feel. Standing in a typical West Yorkshire landscape of moors and mills, the hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens and hidden terraces.

Holdsworth House is the perfect place to escape from the pressures of modern life or wind down after a busy day.

Food & beverage

For many years Holdsworth House has enjoyed an enviable reputation for its beautiful restaurant and delicious food. The kitchen brigade has won numerous awards, including 2 AA rosettes, and continues to serve its many returning guests.

The restaurant is comprised of 3 beautifully furnished rooms overlooking the garden. The food is creative and stylish, making the best use of fresh local produce.

Room information

All 40 of Holdsworth's rooms are furnished to a high standard with a character and charm of their own, created by imaginative use of colour and fabrics. Each room has been equipped with every up-to-date amenity for comfort and convenience, including Wi-Fi Internet access, whilst nonetheless retaining their own individuality.

Several rooms have four-poster or half-tester beds. There are 4 split-level suites available, each with a sitting room and bathroom on the ground floor and a pretty galleried bedroom above.

Area information

Holdsworth House is the ideal base from which to explore the Pennines and the Dales, with Bronte country on its doorstep. A wealth of shops, restaurants and nightlife can be found in Halifax which plays host to the Eureka children's museum and the Piece Hall, one of Europe's most outstanding 18th century buildings. A little further afield you can find the parsonage at Harworth, where the Bronte sisters lived, the National Museum of Film and Photography at Bradford, or Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway.

The following morning, it was not much better. I politely informed the receptionist (not the one who checked me in) when I checked out, and she just said "I'll get it looked it". No apology whatsoever, which I found very disappointing. Supplement for cooked breakfast too high.	6.5
