The friendly atmosphere of the staff, perfect location ..
The fire alarm sounding in the morning!
Excellent meals, Spotless rooms throughout, very helpful staff, willing to help. Very handy location for travelling into city. the ground floor room had an excellent walk in shower which we requested because of my husband's poor mobility.
Until my husband got used to them, the stairs to our room.
Young lad on front desk was very friendly and helpful, cant say the same for other members of staff, rooms could do with a good hoover, cooked breakfast wasn't the best but edible, lovely walk into the town about 10 mins.
Clean property with pleasant staff with good attitude. Good value for money. Free parking and good hearty breakfast.
It is a bit of a walk to the centre of the City, but there is a bus stop outside.
Location was good. 15 mins to centre. Car park brilliant. No fees. Very good breakfast. Our room was very nice but it wasnt the allocated one - we had to ask for better room as otiginal did not look the same as on internet. Will say there was no fuss. Rest of stay was good.
We had to ask for a different room. Original was at very back of hotel room was gloomy and tired. My heart sank when we opened door. It was also next to kitchen. Not ideal. Dont know why we was given such a lowly room for the money when the better one was available. Ruined our first initial thoughts and expectations ofthe hotel. Whole experience made us feel uncomfortable
The hotel was nice and location was easy to find.
The bed was lumpy and prevented a full nights sleep.
Room was small but adequate and very clean and comfortable with excellent shower room.Breakfast was also very good and served by cheerful and friendly staff.
location size of room friendliness of staff
hard bed, pillows breakfast following second night not as good as one
The atmosphere created with decor of all the rooms. The dining, sitting and outdoor area/ rooms. The friendly helpful staff and the bar.We had a wonderful time.
My husband and I only stayed one night. The hotel was in a good location to the city centre. The breakfast was lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful.the room was comfortable.
great place to stay not far from town centre easy access for buses etc.. Exellent.5*****
no complaints things could not have been better.
We felt the staff were really nice, helpful and polite, the hotel was lovely and clean, the breakfast choices were fab, dinner in the evening was lovely home cooked food. Location good for York, for us a stroll of 15 minuites into centre. Bus stop right outside. Room tidied daily and clean towels daily.
We felt that our double bedroom although adequate and clean had been a single before, we found a hidden wall mounted radio behind the headboard and every time we turned in bed it would bang on the radio, also only one plug available in the bedroom , and this was used for the kettle.
Location , sitting room.
Being told I was an Australian from down under , like I was not the most intelligent. A joke made in poor taste and demeaning of my character in front of others , we were guests. The breakfast was poor andThe room too hot at night. The comment made to me means I would rate this guest house at one and a half stars.
We were warmly welcomed and given courteous attention. The breakfast was full of variety and we cheerfully ate our fill. We were touring on foot. It is an easy few minutes walk from the rail station, or even quicker by the several bus routes with the bus shelter at the front door. The interior is spacious, and the decor is charming. There is a lovely secluded terrace and garden.
Our bedroom was adequate, though rather on the small side. One of the two single beds is rather close to the window, and it was a little chilly when we left it open during the night. Bring your own shampoo. The sachets are small. Aside from these admittedly minor snags, we were well provided for.
easy to find..good parking facilities..friendly staff..nice and clean..good selection of food at breakfast.
very small bathroom..door on wardrobe refused to stay closed..
excellent evening dinner, freshly prepared, cooked and with locally supplied fresh produce pleasantly served to table.
toiletries were poor, couldn't open the shampoo sachets.
We were made very welcome on arrival, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Excellent food breakfast and dinner, nice clean rooms.we are sure we will be staying at Colgate hill hotel again in the near future.
Excellent friendly staff,great location
Room was a bit too warm, very small bathroom
Good size room Comfortable bed Easy walk to city centre Near station Good breakfast - lots of choice Helpful staff Pretty patio with seating
York hotels in general are expensive Evening restaurant was not used by anyone whilst we were there Carpet a bit grubby & tired
We stayed here for weekend break. Would definitely go back. Wonderful friendly staff hospitality service food stayed in delightful 4 poster bed room :-)
This amenity was close to York City Centre, also reasonable parking facilities off road. Public transport, shops and other facilities were also close to the Hotel.
Room décor slightly outdated, noise from upper floor occupants was disrupting at times.
location friendliness of staff food
it is easy to find it is in a pleasant area the Volunteer Arms is nearby it is a pleasant walk into town breakfast was very good
it was a bit dear for the room we got the walk into town wouldn't suit people with mobility issues and would be long for children the parking was full
Easy to find Parking Friendly staff Good Breakfast Ample single Room
