Was planning to have a nice relaxing swim in pool but upon arrival was told it was closed. Also was short hanged in the bar and didn't realise until we was in Cambridge, tried calling hotel, impossible it get through !
Terrible site, grim and miserable. My room was in the 'executive' wing....what this really means is that I had to walk half a mile from reception and up two flights of stairs with bags and large case, with NO LIFT in the place whatsoever!
Ease of booking and good layout of hotel. Good selection for breakfast Good room temperature controls with fresh air option
Looked a little tired for a Holiday Inn Corridors not heated Noisy and crowded at breakfast
Despite requesting a double bed we were given a twin room, but staff quickly changed our room. Breakfast was very good and staff were very friendly and professional.
It was a really long way from our room to reception and dining area. The swimming pool was closed all weekend.
We ate in the restaurant and the meal was terrible, served on a piece of slate rather than plates
Every thing went well with the stay my partner spends lot of time in Papworth Hospital as she not well so hotel was fantastic place for us to stay thank you so much & will be seeing you in new year
Size and comfort of the room The staff in the restaurant were excellent particularly the manager The choice at breakfast
We were extremely disappointed to find the spa facilities shut earlier than advertised on their web ,even on the day of our arrival, as this was the specific reason for selecting this hotel, knowing that we'd have to pay the taxi fares in and out town. If we had been informed earlier we would have chosen a hotel in the city
Location was good, staff were excellent, breakfast yummy!
Comfortable room, good breakfast
Not impressed that the swimming pool - one of the reasons for opting for this hotel over others - was too full to accomodate us on Sunday morning. I had to replace a lightbulb above my bed (replacing it with one from a sidelamp). Slightly surprising that nobody had noticed before me that it wasn't working!
Breakfast Reception staff v helpful
The staff were the best thing about the hotel though to be fair everything was good except the length of time we had to wait for a meal on the Friday evening
Some of the other guests. Two of us in different parts of the hotel were woken in the night by drunken guests. in one case the noise went on for two hours between 2-4 am. This is not acceptable and we felt that the issue was not resolved properly at the time or when it was brought up again in the morning
Room was clean and comfortable, staff were helpful.
pillows on the bed were not great, they are too small and soft, would make great ear muffs. Had to fold pillows over to make them firmer.
I liked the wooden "curtains" which kept the morning light out. Loved the TV.
There seemed to be a problem with the flush on the loo, it took forever to fill up again.
Great facilities and friendly staff
Good sized room. Blackout shutters Comfy bed Good breakfast Lovely staff
Being put in a room with access for disabled, meant we had a bath we could not use as it had steps. We were disappointed in this. There is no point in saying the room has a bath if you can't lay in it.
We booked 2 rooms for 7-8 Nov, and arrived around midnight. The GPS took us to a corner, and we could not find the place. When we phoned the hotel, a very friendly gentleman answered the phone and gave us a clear instruction. When we drove to the hotel, he was even waiting for us outside the frontdoor of the hotel with a flashing light in such cold weather, we could not thank him enough for his kind help. Very touched by this. The hotel is clean, and the room is very spacious with comfortable bed.
You have to pay for wifi service if you are not a memeber. Breakfast is expensive if it is not included in the room deal.
For a modern hotel to be asking guests to pay for the WiFi is very poor. £5 for an hour and £10 for 4 hours is ridiculous. Any bog standard hotel worth its salt now offers free WiFi. I mentioned it to the hotel reception and they said if I joined the hotel's guest club I would get WiFi for free but I don't want to join for the same reason I don't join supermarket memberships either!
Location very good friendly staff and a great breakfast
Staff are friendly and helpful. Perhaps too much so at breakfast where they insist of moving your plate at the first opportunity.
Room had not been cleaned thoroughly either before our arrival or during our stay. The room was for my husband and I and yet there was only 1 biscuit, etc. The power cut was frightening in that there was no emergency lighting for rooms and even the bathroom facilities did not work as I presume they were also run on electricity?
Location, friendly staff
Prices for drinks are extortionate and limited choice on room service menu Food average when ordered room service
The customer service from all the staff was second to none. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We were staying the weekend that the power went off at the hotel and surrounding village. The team on duty were professional and attentive doing everything they could to make sure the guests were ok. They made plates of sandwiches as some of the guests had not been able to dine before the power outage and they kept us all informed of what was going on. In particular I witnessed the chef being extraordinarily polite and patient with an awkward guest (sadly there are always a few that are never happy!). How he remained professional I don't know. A lot of the staff were then back on shift in the morning still smiling and looking after us c
Well to be picky I was a bit disappointed by the room. The hook on the back of the bathroom door was coming away taking a bit of the door with it. The spare toilet roll had black mould on it but this was rectified immediately once the front desk were notified.
The staff were excellent in dealing with an issue we had and the leisure facilities were excellent and not too busy
Staff friendly, caring and helpful.
Had no free Wi-Fi unless you joined IHG Rewards Club.
Had the meal in the restaurant in the evening, however felt that the quality of food was average and very expensive for what is was. Noticed that a couple of tables appeared to have been almost neglected although the service on our table was excellent.
Staff, exec room was very nice
