The staff seemed well trained and competent. They were helpful, friendly, and able to answer any questions that I had. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a good range of tv channels and pay movies. The gym and pool were clean, had all the facilities that I needed, and seemed well run. There is a little lake at the back of the hotel, which is great for an early morning jog or walk, despite the distant roar of traffic from the a14. The corridors are a bit bleak and institutional.

It was conveniently situated for us visiting familiy close by. Had everything we needed except free internet. Complete lack of Christmas decorations in room used for non-coach party guests for breakfast - hardly festive! Bed setteee in our room was not comfy as a settee. No free internet - surely in this day and age! Very expensive for non business use when you might just need half an hour or so if that.

Heated towel rail in bathroom not connected - if it had been then keeping the towels for longer would have been easy.

Excellent location, just off Motorway and near to City Cente. Pleasant staff and room very clean. A little overpriced for what you get.

Good site with close proximity to Cambridge and Newmarket. The reception staff and the house keeping staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good and the staff and service excellent. Bar food was good and the service is also exceptionally good. The only draw back I found was there being no lift, if one has heavy luggage. I would definitlely recommend this Holiday Inn to my friends.

I had booked this hotel due to its proximity to a relative's house and for its swimming pool and leisure facilities, which were excellent. The bar and restaurant was taken up by a party/disco on the night I was there and the restaurant was closed. Also not enough toiletries in room and no safe or hairdryer.

Pool and spa facilities were very good. Steam room nice and hot and jacuzzi working well. Room service was very prompt and hotel room sufficiently spacious and warm. The bed was so uncomfortable that my husband still has a bad lower back and is now wearing a back strap to help numb the pain. He hasn't suffered with a painful back for 3 years! The pillows were flat and hard and hurt our ears. There was no working heating in the bathroom, so that was very cold in the morning and when we drew this to the attention of the reception staff on departure for the benefit of subsequent guests, they did nothing, just nodded and served someone else! Our priority card stood for nothing really and certainly no upgrade. Will not be renewing it.

I liked the way the staff coped with our visit when they were obviously very busy with the Christmas Parties that were in full swing at the time of our visit

Easy location to city center (park and ride). Close to small village for eating away from hotel. Little noisy and resturant closed due to pre booked parties.

The later check out time of 12 noon is excellent. We were able to spend a leisurely morning with an unhurried departure. I thought the added extra of being able to order a gluten free roll with my breakfast showed good service. The staff (including domestic) were friendly and welcoming. It would be nice for reception staff to deal with requests late in the evening. I felt uncomfartable going to the bar area to ask for tea bags and milk. Tea and Milk was provided in the room for Just one cup.

So nice to be able to open windows and let some air into the room. Not as good as other Holiday Inns we have stayed at. Room service was extremely slow to answer the phone. I had to call via reception twice before getting an answer. Breakfast - the food looked as if it had been sitting there for a while - bacon was rather hard, sausages overcooked and scrambled egg didn't look good.

On the Sat evening I went to reception at around 7pm to tell them that the toilet was not working in the room,ie would not flush. They told me that they would send someone to the room asap to fix this. I left the hotel at 7.30pm and arrived back at about 1am to find the toilet had still not even been flushed and was still in an useable condition. Basically I had not got a working toilet for the whole time of my stay,..

The Holiday Inn was in a great location for Cambridge centre and for visiting our family. It was a very comfortable hotel although I do think it was not a reasonably priced hotel for a Holiday Inn. It was great value on your offer though but the actual hotel tariff was very expensive if you are paying full price. Would stay again only if on special offer. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Good pool and gym facilities Overpriced bar and restaurant prices, outrageous wi-fi charges. Obviously taking advantage of business guests on expense accounts. Restuarant staff should get their act together, the service was erratic and the staff seemed confused.

The room was comfortable and spacious with good facilities. The setting is nice although it is near the noisy a14 at least it has a lake and grounds nearby. Staff were courteous and helpful. The restaurant/cafe is nice too. One of the things I was looking forward to was the swimming pool however I didn't find out until I arrived that it was closed and being repaired. They did give me a token discount for this (10%) but only when I asked. Also the walls were paper thin so that I was kept awake for most of the night by a hyper-active couple nextdoor! I felt that I could have paid a lot less for a much better experience! Despite the fact that I have family nearby I will be looking elsewhere next time.

The cost for Breakfast was extortionate we, therefore, went outside the hotel to eat where you could purchase a full English for around £5.00

“We were very impressed with the University Arms. It was centrally located so ideal for shopping and for eating and drinking. We booked early and got a good deal. The parking below the hotel was ideal as we had a lot of gear with our baby. We would love to come back and make the most of the bars in the hotel.” Robert, Stowlangtoft |
