Stayed for a wedding. The staff were great & the food was delicious
Stayed for 2 nights but cleaner did not clean room after 1st night. Therefore tea/coffee not replenished, bed not made & no toilet roll for second day - had to use tissues instead!
Everything was excellent from the staff, hotel, food and surroundings had a lovely weekend
the only thing I think would be a slightly bigger bar and bar area
All staff were very friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble. Loved the large shower in the ensuite!
Not enough parking and difficult to realise that the Holiday Inn was Aston Hotel.
Bedroom/comfortable Restaurant/dinner was very good except less potato and and more meat/fish would have improved it Staff very pleasant
Breakfast/was more like fast food. Cooked breakfast all stored under heaters. Bacon was hard, fried eggs had a skin like cellophane. Tea was from a communal jug. A pot of tea would have been appreciated. Breakfast was the only downside but definitely a downside.
Set in beautiful grounds.
Quality of food in restaurant very poor, service really bad, felt that staff had not been trained properly. Worst experience at breakfast, when we were unable to get breakfast until after a bus party had queued first. Then the food that was left was dried out and unfit to eat. We had wanted breakfast at 8 when service started as we were due to attend a local Show. We did not get anything until 8.25 and had to leave almost immediately. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The reception staff were lovely and very helpful.
The air con was broken on our first 2 nights of a 3 day stay, and it was suffocatingly hot. The lovely receptionist provided a fan but it was the hottest w/end of the year so it was still unbearable. When i asked the room staff th change the bed and replenish supplies in our room on the 3rd day of our stay they were very arrogant.
Excellent breakfast buffet
Inability to open windows more than a couple of centimetres (air-conditioning couldn't cope with unusually hot June sunshine!)
Situation in the grounds of the old Crichton Hospital . Easy access and wonderful country nearby,eg.Glencaple at the mouth of the river Nith and the Criffle Hill across the river.
Air con.was a bit feeble, but the outside temperature was 25 degrees. We were allocated an executive room on the ground floor which was a lot cooler.
The hotel experience on a whole was very good.
The air con was broken. So the room was very very warm. Couldn't be helped. Just one of these things.
Breakfast was plentiful but everything was dry under the lights
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Despite the pretentious title, the food in the restaurant was little better than what can be found in a decent pub. I doubt if Marco Pierre White has had anything to do with it!
Location, Staff and Restaurant
I stayed here four 4 nights. Hotel was changing to a Holiday Inn. Breakfast was disgusting! Dried up rubbish! No yogurts fruit or pastries to be seen! I witnessed one waitress playing with her hair, then put bread out to be toasted! All in all it was very disappointing!
Location was in a spectacular setting. Staff were friendly upon arrival.
Air-Con does not work in the executive room. Sleep was unbearable due to the building being a architectural glass oven in hot summer days. Basic food for breakfast. More canteen standard than a hotel restaurant.
the grounds it was set in. Quite
The room was to hot air conditioning not very good
very nice location if a bit out of town
had difficulty getting a taxi. Bus instructions from train station would have been appreciated
Loved the whole experience
The bed was comfortable in the rooms and the room and bathroom was very clean. The breakfast and the food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing. Couldn't fault it at all. Enjoyed the bar/lounge too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I informed them when I booked the hotel that it was my partner's birthday and there was a birthday card and a bottle of wine in the room for when we arrived which I thought was very nice gesture.
The only real complaint I had was there was no air con in the room. We were on the first floor and the air con wasn't working all the time we stayed so it was very hot n our room. A bit uncomfortable when we were trying to sleep in the heat. Also when we first arrived they checked us into a room that wasn't ready but they resolved the issue for us very quickly when we went back to reception and put us into another room. It wasn't a problem at all though.
This is now Holiday Inn. Excellent reception, breakfast and facilities.
Slightly away from centre of town but v quiet on a campus which appears not to be used.
Our heating was stuck on. Air con not working and staff could not find a key to open the windows. They told us they did not have any other room to put us in and it was too late to find another hotel. The worst night I have ever spent in a hotel, terrible.
Breakfast. Shower.Situation. Staff.
No real quiet lounge area.
Nothing. Everything was very good.
Staff were friendly and breakfast quite good.
When I complained about the air con I was told maintenance would look into it. No one came and I found out that the air con was inadequate for the hotel. Spent both nights lying awake sweating. I paid for a hotel room and got a sauna instead. Was very disappointed, was told the manager would contact me about compensation as they were not available when I checked out. Still waiting for an email from them. Would stay again during summer but only if the air con was fixed.
The bathroom products were good quality and smelled nice-usually need to use my own but these were great
The breakfast was pretty standard and the staff seemed young and unfamiliar
Location was fabulous, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was exceptionally good value with plenty of options to suit every palate. The overall experience was extremely good with just a minor problem, i.e. Mattress too soft for my taste.
Everything was really good, but I personally prefer a firm mattress and the bed was too soft for my liking, so I did not have a very good sleep. This will not prevent us from returning or recommending to others though
