Holiday Inn Reading South M4 Jct 11500 Basingstoke Road, RG2 0SL Reading (Show map) Very good, Score from 97 reviews“I liked that it was in a good location, close to the town centre and on a main road that meant it was easy to find. The price was reasonable and when we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The main gentleman on reception was very kind and spoke to my daughter and me with respect and gave my daughter a gift bag which pleased her very much. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds comfortable and we were even allowed to check in early without a problem.”

The location was brilliant as it was close to where family live. The room smelled of smoke when we arrived, which is not good when you have children! The people staying above us were very noisy. The family room could have been bigger and better! It was quiet a dark room and they could improve by putting a fridge in.

The hotel location is very good & the staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is overpriced compared to other hotels in the area. The rooms are tired & the bathrooms are small & in serious need of upgrading.

I stayed for two nights, my first night was in a room on the ground floor which as a lone female felt unsafe, as the windows are of the sliding type and I was near an open area. I also found that some of the lights didn't work but I didn't mention this. The first thing I saw in the bathroom on the first night was the shower mat towel which had obvious black, dirty marks on it. I took it to reception who were suitably apologetic. I have nothing but praise for the hotel staff who moved me to a first floor room for the second night which was considerably better in terms of comfort and furnishings. However, overall, I was pleased with the hotel. One thing I don't like about the hotel was having to use an 0870 number which is expensive, and having to listen to a series of options to hear recorded directions as the hotel was hard to find. I expect expensive phone calls to be answered immediately by staff.

Really helpful, friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Good choice on menu both on bar and restaurant - quick service. Only minor irritations - no hair conditioner in bathroom and no biscuits with tea/ coffee facility.

The location was handy. The bed felt old and a bit hard. The extractor fan in the bathroom clicked loudly every 15 mins through the night which was very annoying. Not tatty

Propmpt efficient servcie I am disabled and discovered that there was no lift to my room on the first floor.I would not have booked if I had known this and I wasn't offered a grounfd floor room.I was given room 241 on the first floor so had a long walk to get to and from my room- which was very difficult indeed!

The pool was excellent. The hotel was close to motorway, but quiet. We walked for miles and miles including up stairs to reach our room, and although we had a big suitcase no one offered to help us. Not for the faint-hearted.

It was convenient for attending Reading Festival and was good value for money for the room. The swimming pool was an excellent bonus for the price we paid. Close to amenities such as pub and supermarket. Also earlier checkin and later checkout than a lot of other hotels. The food appeared on the expensive side for a budget price hotel. Don't know how good it was because decided not to eat there but went to local pub instead which was more affordable and excellent value for money.
