Score from 1187 reviews Very good
Easy to book the room and check in. Massive bed and TV. Good cleanliness. Great breakfast - all you could eat. Happy to stay here again.
You have to pay for wifi. Didn't think was acceptable or good value on top of room cost.
Complimentary water in the room Size of the room Breakfast good quality Pay per view films Nice towels
Price of food in restaurant and drinks at the bar (very expensive by local standards)
Rooms and the bed
friendly staff who where very helpful
distance from Newcastle
Very friendly staff, assisted with organising transport, good breakfast
Increased price than usual for Great north run weekend, decor was a bit shabby and dated
Staff tried hard to rectify problem and offered partial refund
Realising what we had agreed through booking. Com was not the same as we were it in. Luckily we had email confirmation. Think yr bookings centre need to liaise more with hotels,,,, poor
Cleanliness and size of room Good breakfast
The room was very clean and we had a fantastic view, the breakfast was great and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again
Rooms very comfortable. Staff very helpful.
My husband had a full english breakfast for £9.95. I asked for just coffee and toast and they were charging £6.45!!! I had a coffee back in the room instead!!
We use this hotel regularly when we visit Newcastle. Staff are friendly and helpful and rooms are clean. Breakfast was good. You need to be aware that this is a regular coach overnight stop (5 coaches on one night) so it can be a bit hectic if have an early breakfast with them!
The room on the 6th floor was clean and comfortable, but you can hear the traffic from the A1. Rooms need to be double glazed to combat this. Air-con? was also noisy as room was next to service tanks on roof
Staff went out of their way to be helpful & pleasant & were the stars of the hotel.
Would have liked a hotel nearer to Durham but they were all full, which really isn't your fault!! Drinks were extremely expensive.
The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble and everyone was extremely friendly..
The mattress was too hard and resulted in poor sleep. My wife has complained of back pain since staying.
Willingness of staff to help where they could. See below for exception.
Wi Fi not automatically provided despite it saying so on the web advert. After a protest by myself pointing out the discrepancy access was (reluctantly) given.
Everything about the hotel including all staff was second to none. THANKS TO ALL THE TEAM
NOTHING ONLY GOOD
Very easy to get to and from the A1. Rooms were reasonably sized, clean and comfortable. Wasn't there long enough to form a solid opinion beyond that.
No local facilities within easy walking distance of hotel. Everything is charged extra, including wifi in the room.
Shortage of hotels in Newcastle led to the others blatantly profiteering - last time we stayed it was £64 for a Saturday night!!!!!
Huge bed! Clean room, nice staff.
No biscuits on the tea tray
Price, Location, Accomodation
Breakfast prepaid but not booked both days despite lengthy discussions at reception. Free wifi not originally provided despite being listed on receipt. Some staff were great but some were not!
Evening meal was excellent
Making allowances that it is an older hotel. It was a bit tired. Cooked breakfast certain items were cool and black pudding under cooked. Also I arrived at 09.10 and things had not been replenished so I had no croissants and rolls
Breakfast was good
Trek to the 3rd floor with 2 babies
It was easy to find central to what we wanted for the weekend. staff were friendly room was clean and comfortable meals also were good.
Room we paid for was not as advertised.Complained when we got there and phoned 3 times since.Told Booking.com description of rooms incorrect passed complaint to management. Now a month later still no reply or refund.
Good service in dining area but pretty average meal. Decent choices at breakfast.
1st room had terrible smell got allocated another room. Room was clean enough but fixtures and fittings scuffed and tired looking, needs a revamp.
Arrived at 9pm inform the restaurant closed at 9.30 so dropped bags in room and went to restaurant at 9.15, greeted by man in shirt and tie whom I presume was restaurant manager with "yes" I said "we would like a table please" he answered " Oh I was gonna oh never mind sit here" we sat we ordered food and wine, we waited! Even though 6 members of staff including the man stood near the entrance talking obviously waiting for their shift to finish? After 20 minutes I asked if our wine was ready the waitress looked surprised and went to find out and came back with our wine. Eventually our food arrived not what I had ordered but I was too hungry and tired from driving to argue. We ate and left without an acknowledgement taking our wine into the bar. I have had better service in a cheap cafe and the manager needs to be sacked , I will never eat there again which is a pity as the rest of our stay was excellent, although we avoided breakfast just in case.
hard mattress noisy neighbour
