Appalling. Dreadful. On arrival and after going for a quick walk, found Manager and workman in room: the shower was leaking badly (Manager admitted the room should never have been let out. We needed to get washed and changed to go out to Glyndebourne; the Manager showed us to a room the corridor length away where my wife had to decant all her stuff to have a shower. They then allegedly repaired the shower: it leaked all over the bathroom floor and hallway when we used it the next morning. For £265 I expect a decent bed, a tv that works, bathroom accoutrements, a mini-bar, a bathrobe and a room safe. None of these were available. On complaing the next morning, the Manager docked a mere £50 basically saying he could let the room at that price many times over and could not give a hoot about our views on its value. I will never stay at a Holiday Inn again

Good location on promenade and a few minutes walk to main shopping area/restaurants/bars etc. Reception staff were polite and efficient. Room was clean and well appointed. The building could do with a facelift. We were at the back so room looked out onto service area/generators which was a tad depressing. The TV in our room was quite old and couldn't get good pictures on BBC1, ITV and Channel 4. We asked at reception if this could be addressed and returned in the evening to find the TV on (which is wasteful), but no improvement in picture quality. We don't stay in hotels to watch loads of TV, but if a service is offered under the room rate, I expect it to be there, especially with the improvements in digital technology!!

The location is right on the sea front. Very high prices for the car park for a paying guest it should clearly be free. Not impressed.

Location I'm not sure why you say not to mention complaints: i) Noisy Air conditioning. ii) Sound insulation in room very poor, we could hear the occupant next door snoring and were awoken by revellers returning druing the small hours. iii) Wifi didn't work and I was told this was because I was using a Mac (I've never heard this excuse before - in fact I've never had the Wifi not work in a hotel before) iv) Large wooden splinters exposed on inside of door v) Large chips from desk surface exposing woodchip vi) Balcony untidy and dirty (seats couldn't be sat on) vii) Barman in cocktail bar rude in his annoyance that we had trouble understanding his strong foreign accent viii) No facilities (spa/gym/pool/business centre) - this was just a large B&B. This was the first and last time I ever stay at a Holiday Inn. I did complain about the above on checkout and was deducted the car park fee (£36.00). The receptionist went to speak to the duty manager who did not make the effort to come to reception to speak to me. The noise during the night-time (from the air conditioning and other rooms) was particulalrly inconvenient as I was running the Brighton Marathon and needed to get a good night's sleeo which I didn't.

Everyone was friendly including the workmen who helped us. The breakfast room and facilities were very good. Our room had two comfortable chairs with a table in between which meant a time of relaxing with your drink. All in all a pleasant stay. Only one thing that was of a dead plant in the dining/breakfast front area.

I liked the Location and the size of the rooms. The staff were abit aloof, parking was very expensive;first come fist serve I think and the parking space was disgraceful as they were too small and after parking your car you practically have to squeeze yourself out of the car and also risk denting somebody else's car in the process. We were put in a room for disabled even though our booking clearly did not state that either of us were disabled;the decor looked tired and needs a complete over haul compared to the other Holiday Inns, poor internet connection and we had to pay to use the internet in the hotel(totally not cool),the accommodation price that was advertised on bookings.com was different from what we were charged at the end of our stay with the receptionist whom clearly stated to us quote "our fees change everyday".seriously???! Apart from the location it's not really great value for money pls make an effort.

The staff were very good. The dinner menu was simple but well prepared and the chef's specials were simple but imaginative. This hotel is badly in need of a complete renovation. The carpets were threadbare , wallpaper peeling off the walls and the drainage smell in the bathroom was completely unacceptable - especially as the rate was quite high. The bedding was good but the rest of the furnings were very old and tired looking. Somethings had been hand painted in more recent times but badly executed and amateurish. The car park was expensive at 18gbp per night, but the free wifi was welcome. My room was a long way from the lift and at the back of the building void of any view, so the seaside location meant nothing. I would have expected someting better for 100gbp per night. Holiday Inn (franchise) are trying to do a good job given the poor structure of the building. I would suggest the building owner invests in a refurb.

It's a good location being right on the sea front. The hotel is dated in 1985. It is in need of a revamp. The room though clean was dated. The bathroom had cracked floor tiles and a very worn marked bath. These were not 100 pounds a night rooms. The so called budget hotels now give this one a very real alternative. The cost of car parking is extortionate. 18 pounds per night and no guarantee that there will be a space upon return.

I was given a large double room with a seaview and it only cost me £46. It also had a balcony, which wasn't stipulated in the room description when I booked it. Whereas last month I booked a London hotel which did include a balcony in the room description, and it turned out to be a tenth as big. I feel the Holliday Inn must have upgraded me, without telling me, as the room was supposed to be 12 square metres, but it was definitely bigger than that. I also didn't book a room with a seaview. I have been here three times now and I've been happy with it each time. I have no idea why it doesn't get better reviews. Two of the wardrobe doors in the room were loose at the bottom, which meant you could push them back. I wish I'd told them, as if guests don't tell them then they won't know. I just hope they don't think I broke them.

The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast room was lovely and light and good selection of food. The reception staff were very professional, efficient and polite (as were the staff serving breakfast). My problem with the booking was sorted out quickly and efficiently (I'd asked for one double and one with twin beds but got two doubles instead). The rooms were expensive and I really resent having to pay extra for breakfast when the room costs so much. The lifts are far too small - four people was a real squeeze. Television reception was poor.

We didn't get any sleep, there seemed to be people moving furniture about all night. The room was so expensive and I would have expected a good nights sleep for the amount we had to pay.

I was made to feel welcome as soon as I walked through the door. The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to ensure our stay was a pleasurable experience. I had understood that there was a bar at the Holiday Inn and arranged to meet a group of friends there. Unfortunately the bar was closed on the day we visited.

Prime seafront location near (defunct) West Pier. A good half a mile away from the old town centre but with many bars, restaurants, and shops nearby. Staff were professional, friendly, and welcoming. We were offered a free upgrade to an "executive" room on the 4th floor. Although it was clean and everything worked it's beginning to show its age. Bathroom fittings functional but showing signs of wear and repeated repair (rather than replacement). Huge comfortable bed but little else to justify the "executive" tag. Sticky, squeaky wardrobe doors, and old- style crt tv, to name but two. Had this just been a "standard" room we'd have been very happy, but using a word like "executive" raised expectations which weren't quite fulfilled.

Parking was good and value for money when compared with Nearby ncp. That apart we thought the hotel generally had a rundown and seen better days feel and look about it. As we commented above the whole hotel has seen better days. The lobby area looks scruffy with revolving doors out of action and looking like they have been for some time. When we arrived the only door into the hotel remained open allowing a howling gale to make checking in a thoroughly uncomfortable experience. We accepted an offer to upgrade our room and discovered possibly the oldest tv taking up a corner of it. Seriously have you never heard of flat screen tv'S. We are in 2012 after all. We met our cousins in the bar and couldn't even order a Baileys... New Year and no Baileys in a 4star hotel and then no Worcester Sauce for a Bloody Mary..... Come on Hospitality Inn ....Get Real. All in all thoroughly unacceptable.

Great location - well placed for seafront and shops. Good value car parking - allowed to park for over 24 hours for one rate. Staff friendly and helpful. Upgraded to side sea view room - the view was partially blocked by scaffolding. Also room very cold - heating not very effective and noisy to keep on at night. Shower too low down on wall to stand under.

The room was better than we expected from pictures and reviews we had seen. It had everything we needed and was clean. Yes the decor is old and not high quality. We may have been upgraded and the complementary magazine, wifi and water did make our stay more enjoyable. We had no problems with noise. Staff very helpful.

Easy to locate the hotel and the most helpful reception member of staff. Ease of parking and the proximity to the hotel.Clean and excellent room with a lovely sea view. Spotless and clean bathroom with a huge bathtub for two.Nice welcome breakfast and smiling staff. The ease with which I was able to exit from the car park. A token or ticket tom leave would make me more comfortable.Fresh fruits at breakfast looked faded and not appealing, it would have been better to have individual fruits.

My husband and I enjoyed a very pleasant day and night in an executive room overlooking seafront. The staff were courteous and helpful and the evening meal was excellent and very good value for money. I felt the standard of the executive room was not up to the standard one would expect regarding cleanliness of the bathroom. The duvet for the king size bed was hardly sufficient to cover the bed. There was a long black hair in the bath and cracked bath and the grouting around the tiles was black. The TV was poor quality and for the price additinal price one pays for executive suite I would expect better. However, overall it was very pleasant.
