Very quiet even though next to a main road. Reception staff very very helpful and cheerful. Good food.

Drinks expensive.

Good at reception....daily "I" newspaper available...general cleanliness.

Room 238 extracter fan seemed not to work (not reported). From the front and to enter the hotel, a long corridor with a heavy suitcase and two sets of stairs was more than enough after a long day travelling

Although Holiday Inn Edinburgh is outside Edinburgh's city centre there are numerous buses travelling into the centre that arrive just outside the hotel. The hotel staff was very pleasant upon check-in and worked diligently to make certain our room and the services provided met our needs.

During our stay the fire alarms were set off early in the morning. The entire hotel was evacuated and waited in the hotel's parking lot until the all clear was given. While it is perfectly understandable that these situations occur and little can be done to avoid such an event the hotel did very little to comfort their guests during the event. No explanation of the events was ever given, the alarms continued to go off throughout the morning and finally no apology was given at time of check-out.

Free parking next to the zoo, plenty of buses into the centre of Edinburgh, night service also available into the early hours. Fresh sheets daily, room was clean and fresh. Staff provide a quality service.

Excellent service due to a friendly and professional staff..conveince of travel into city..great parking facility and overall a really nice hotel to stay..my wife and I will be recommending this hotel to our family and friends and most certainly will be back in the near future..by the way the cost of our stay was exceptional value....Well done Holiday Inn, Edinburgh and many thanks for a great stay.. I am a single parent and took my young daughter to primarily visit the Zoo. I was nervous about travelling alone. The Holiday Inn were efficient, friendly, helpful and just great to be honest. I will definately be staying there again in a few months time. The food was excellent and the overall standard of the hotel was everything we could have wanted and very geared towards looking after families and children whilst still providing everything for other types of patrons. I would thoroughly recommend it!

Convinience for the rugby international at Murrayfield. The restaurant manager was quick to become aware of our disappointment at the quality of food (see below) was suitably apologetic and quick to offer compensation by way of a discount.

The 'Asian' restaurant's menu looked very good but did not match up to expectations. The food was bland and poor. I felt the price charged for the room was excessive, and was simply exploiting the opportunity provided by the rugby international.

Swimming pool, design, atmosphere, helpfulness of staff, room

I booked a room 'double or twin bed' and was allocated a twin bed room. I asked for this to be changed to a double and was told it could not be done unless a smoking room was acceptable. I had understood the term to be one or the other and not just what could be allocated on arrival.

Easy parking and access to the city friendly and helpful staff

The film programmes were too pricy andnot useful as you couldn't rent just one film

The hotel is nice & smart & we got a friendly reception from the staff. The rooms are clean & tidy with plenty of space. Nice comy bed & lots of hot water in the power shower. Out of town but the bus link is really good & of course its great for the zoo.

The room we had was a linked room so there was some noise from the people through the adjoining door. We'll be sure to ask not to stay in this type of room if we stay there again. The room rate was good but it would have been nice to have a light breakfast included. The price to buy it seperately was too high. The pool is far too small for the size of the hotel & it was rather tired. It was also full of kids splashing about. Not at all relaxing if that is what you are after.

Great location for edinburgh zoo, and the chinese resteraunt was fantastic, no cardboard food there. A taxi into edinburgh central was a little over £10 which made me think staying more in town would have been better.

Excellent hotel for less than a stay at a Travelodge - (I know because I moved out of a Travelodge to move here - £17 cheaper!) Great location for zoo (unfortunately pandas fully booked so will come back another time) Jacuzzi / sauna / pool good - unfortunately too many kids

Breakfast could have been a little cheaper or included in my deal
