Absolutely nothing The hotel was a disgrace. The Hotel had a power cut when we arrived and the standby generator failed. We could not occupy room until 5.30 as check in systems failed and room doorsare electronic and could not be opened. Toilets had no hand drying facilities.during power cut.Bar excessively expensive. Rooms booked at same rates were different in size and facilities. One had no soap, no safe, no chiller. Tv and movies failed in one room. Movies require credit card details. We were not told about this when checking in and when discovered guests were in pj's and too late to go to the reception to load credit card. Internet access / movies costs £28 per 24 hours or £16 for internet alone. All in all a thoroughly dissapointing experience and would never, never stay there again.

Good at reception....daily "I" newspaper available...general cleanliness. Room 238 extracter fan seemed not to work (not reported). From the front and to enter the hotel, a long corridor with a heavy suitcase and two sets of stairs was more than enough after a long day travelling

Great location for Edinburgh city centre. Superb bus access to city centre - longest we waited for a bus in / out was 4 minutes ! Every time we left the lift on floor one - we noticed a smell - as if it was stale smoke, despite the hotel being non smoking. It may not have been anyone smoking, but it certianly did smell like smoke & was very noticeable.

Although Holiday Inn Edinburgh is outside Edinburgh's city centre there are numerous buses travelling into the centre that arrive just outside the hotel. The hotel staff was very pleasant upon check-in and worked diligently to make certain our room and the services provided met our needs. During our stay the fire alarms were set off early in the morning. The entire hotel was evacuated and waited in the hotel's parking lot until the all clear was given. While it is perfectly understandable that these situations occur and little can be done to avoid such an event the hotel did very little to comfort their guests during the event. No explanation of the events was ever given, the alarms continued to go off throughout the morning and finally no apology was given at time of check-out.

Room was clean and comfortable and nice size tv The hot tub jacuzzi was cold and my son wasn't allowed in the gym had to be sixteen and the food was expensive to the point of being ripped off and very mediocre. The so called children's buffet was literally three hot plates chips of which there was about twelve left pasta and cottage pie and some cake at the side. The staff were very apologetic when I raised the failings of the food, quite frankly don't eat there unless you like paying over the odds for poor quality food. I had a burger which was like cardboard and gristly.

I am a single parent and took my young daughter to primarily visit the Zoo. I was nervous about travelling alone. The Holiday Inn were efficient, friendly, helpful and just great to be honest. I will definately be staying there again in a few months time. The food was excellent and the overall standard of the hotel was everything we could have wanted and very geared towards looking after families and children whilst still providing everything for other types of patrons. I would thoroughly recommend it!

Convinience for the rugby international at Murrayfield. The restaurant manager was quick to become aware of our disappointment at the quality of food (see below) was suitably apologetic and quick to offer compensation by way of a discount. The 'Asian' restaurant's menu looked very good but did not match up to expectations. The food was bland and poor. I felt the price charged for the room was excessive, and was simply exploiting the opportunity provided by the rugby international.

So close to the city with the bus stop outside the door. The website advertised a cocktail bar, this sold the hotel for me as both me and my girlfriend like a few cockails but when we went to the bar we were rudely told by the barman that the dont do cocktails. I thought then that i read it wrong but just after checking ans sure enough, the first thing it says is cocktail lounge. Very dissappointed

Swimming pool, design, atmosphere, helpfulness of staff, room I booked a room 'double or twin bed' and was allocated a twin bed room. I asked for this to be changed to a double and was told it could not be done unless a smoking room was acceptable. I had understood the term to be one or the other and not just what could be allocated on arrival.

Upon attending the holiday Inn was easy to find. Upon entering our allocated room this had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Upon attending the front desk and informing them they were very appologetic and we were offered another room, which the female on the front desk appologised about because it was on the next floor up however this was right next to the lift. (The original room was 2nd floor and furthest away from the lift. The staff were very friendly and always smiling. So a very good experience and because of the service we received we will definetly be returning to the Holiday Inn Edinburgh.

The hotel is nice & smart & we got a friendly reception from the staff. The rooms are clean & tidy with plenty of space. Nice comy bed & lots of hot water in the power shower. Out of town but the bus link is really good & of course its great for the zoo. The room we had was a linked room so there was some noise from the people through the adjoining door. We'll be sure to ask not to stay in this type of room if we stay there again. The room rate was good but it would have been nice to have a light breakfast included. The price to buy it seperately was too high. The pool is far too small for the size of the hotel & it was rather tired. It was also full of kids splashing about. Not at all relaxing if that is what you are after.

Great location for edinburgh zoo, and the chinese resteraunt was fantastic, no cardboard food there. A taxi into edinburgh central was a little over £10 which made me think staying more in town would have been better.

Excellent hotel for less than a stay at a Travelodge - (I know because I moved out of a Travelodge to move here - £17 cheaper!) Great location for zoo (unfortunately pandas fully booked so will come back another time) Jacuzzi / sauna / pool good - unfortunately too many kids Breakfast could have been a little cheaper or included in my deal
