Clean and comfortable rooms. Plenty of car parking spaces. Useful for the airport, or if like us you were travelling onto Scotland, for the a1. Several miles out of the centre of Newcastle, a good 30+ minute drive. Whilst we were on the ground floor, the layout means that we were a fair distance from the entrance. Paper thin walls that meant at one o'clock in the morning as the bar emptied/people came back it was almost like being stood next to them.

It was clean and had use of a pool The reception staff didn't seem to have customer as priority and no receptionist at pool reception to enquire about anything. Plus would have been good to have a fast check out area where people knew they hadn't bought anything extra on their room.

Good location for coast, countryside and city, all of which were part of my agenda for the weekend. Good facilities, good food, friendly and efficient staff. Not a big issue, but the view from my room window was disappointing - I was over part the sports centre so lower part of window had misted glass and the view beyound was of a roof with ventilation pipes.

Food in the bar area was good. If you book an executive room, you only get 1 pair of slippers and 1 robe for a room for 2 people. When asked for another they replied "we only provide one and that's the policy with all the hotels" very poor.

There was no permanent air conditioning system. One could access it if required. No constant cold air or noise...made a great change and was welcomed. The layout of the room was conducive to comfort and relaxation. The decor also made it feel homely. The staff were always eager to be of help. The food was excellently prepared and edible! In my experience, the evening meal I had was the best served in a hotel to date. . However, the breakfast selection of bread should have been warm rolls, not slices of chewy, cold bread. That is my only criticism. I shall definitely stay again.

I liked the location, which was perfect for my needs (working with a local business in Brunswick Village). The room was very comfortable, and I liked the 'pillow menu' which was a nice touch, though the pillows already provided were fine for me personally. Breakfast was superb, always a good benchmark for any stay. Food and choice of food was generally excellent, though on the high cost side I felt. Same with the bar pricing (£2.90 for a glass of Pepsi - not even Coke!). Staff were excellent all round - cannot fault them. Good provision of power sockets and temperature controls - also a good benchmark for me as I do a lot in my room. There isn't anything I didn't like, though it would have been nice to have conditioner as well as shampoo (I didn't read the label properly and ended up putting bath gel on my hair after the shampoo!), A flannel is always appreciated, though I generally carry my own now, and there was no enclosed wardrobe space, where I like to put my case and belongings when I stay for more than one night. I didn't find a drinks vending machine which would have been nice as an alternative from paying bar prices and taking them to my room, though there was an ice dispenser near the snack vending machine.

We were attending a wedding in Earsdon and the reception nearby. We travelled up the A1 from Wetherby and were travelling onto Edinburgh the next day on the A1. The hotel was ideally suited for us, and everything was first class.

Everything about the hotel was excellent, the welcome on reception to the bar staff everything was good No instructions for air con unit and the room (133) was absolutely sweltering and uncomfortable. Ran out of pizza on Saturday night at 2350 but this was only a minor point
