Staff were very helpfull and breakfast was excellent.
Nothing to dislike
Brilliant location, staff very polite friendly and knowledgeable. Room lovely, breakfast very nice as was the food in the bar. Nice atmosphere, relaxing and very enjoyable.
hygiene, breakfast, tv, wifi, space in the room
I missed some creativity on the menu, the pillows were... :-(
We loved our executive room the breakfast was amazing and the staff were very attentive
Could do with a bench in the outside smoking area but everything else was amazing
4 people could sleep in a room (2 x double beds) Large hotel Friendly and helpful staff Tea & Coffee facilities in the room Good sized bathroom with modern fittings
In need of a refurb. Curtains were mothbitten and the light shone through in the morning. Breakfast price was a little steep (cheaper if prebooked the night before)
Location - was very difficult to get to the hotel, although we could see it from the main road couldnt find road to get there. It was supposed to be near the arena in fact was at least 15 minutes away.
The room was comfortable and breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
The cost of the room without a breakfast was expensive. I asked the reception staff if I could get a discount (free breakfast) based on I work for RR an dyou have a corporate deal. this was politely declined.
executive room was very nice, but of course that was reflected in the price. the shower gel/body lotion etc perfume was lovely
no fault of hotel as we understand weddings generate a large amount of income, however we felt we could not use the hotel as we would have wished. On arrival at hotel we were informed of the wedding party and that we may experience some noise in room, which we did and party did not finish until 1 am, if we knew this we in all likely hood, would not of booked this hotel and certainly not at the price we paid. we also thought that paying over a £120 a night you would not have to pay for the privilege of parking outside the hotel. on previous visit, which i will admit was a few years ago parking was not charged for. breakfast was ok, but we had the same but with more options the previous day at our stay at the premier inn. a little disappointed as this was a treat for ourselves which is why we paid a little more for this than we normally do for bed and breakfast
Wonderful example of a Victorian hotel - I've visited at least 8 times in the past 15 years. Beautiful inside, clean and comfortable with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful which adds to an enjoyable stay. Also very convenient location
Charge for parking £5.00 a day. There's a huge car park with a redundant entrance barrier and a machine for you to type in a code to enter and exit the premises.
Lovely building, especially the quiet lounge, it's nice not to have TV in all the public areas.
I have no idea how this hotel has achieved a four star rating. It is very dated and shabby looking throughout. Our room had stains on the carpet, and a ripped chair. You had to make tea in the cupboard, in which the back had been hacked away to enable the kettle to reach the socket behind the cupboard. We ate one meal in the hotel, which was one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. Much of the meal was different than in the menu, although the waiter didn't bother to tell us this. The meal came in at a whacking £90, and was not worth half of that.
Good position, friendly staff. very good breakfast
Hotel felt a little dated re decor and atmosphere. not a show stopper however.
At the time of booking I have clearly stated my preference for 2 beds in the room hovewer I was given a room with 1 double bed. When I asked reception staff why- they said it is only preference and they don't have to follow it.The room was small, dingy and depressing. The window did not open and the room was too hot. We couldn't connect to WIFI at all. The breakfast area was busy and there was not enough staff to serve customers. There was no bread, no eggs and no staff to fill the empty dishes
Poor beds, too soft and past their best. Only 2 towels in a 4 person room. Poor tea/coffee making facilities. Noise from adjoining rooms.
I chose this hotel because of its history - we needed a couple of nights in Sheffield and rather then opt for a Novotel or Premier Inn decided it would be interesting to stay in what was formerly a rather grand place. Look at the photos of the hotel in its glory days on the ground floor.
Heating system is very old fashioned therefore the heat in the bedrooms is quite high, windows opened a little but what you would expect from a building of this age. Its tricky to get to and tricky to get out of ! Make sure you use the correct postcode for the car park.
Lovely old building keeping a sense of yester-year
A little more info in room re meal times, availability of extras would have been informative. Only info on room service & massage offer appeared to be available
Staff were all very friendly and helpful with directions on how to get to various places. Good breakfast
We were on the 3rd floor and could still hear the disco which went on until 1am
Bedroom very hot
The room was spacious and clean
I don't think hotel guests should have to pay for car parking. It as not mentioned when booking
Clean and spacious room, good value for money.
Difficult to find and not a very nice location.
The hotel staff were very pleasant and always helpful. The room we had was very clean and excellent value for the money we paid. We would have no problems booking in this hotel again
Nice shower comfy bed
Used tissues in bathroom Tv difficult to use Over priced considering it was a deal
Reception staff did not connect our 2 room bookings together and as a consequence it took a long time to check in as they couldn't find the second room which was frustrating.
Clean, good choice at breakfast
I made serval requests for extra pillows as my partner was pregnant and would have helped her having some support. We waited for around 10 minutes each time we wanted to get a coffee/tea from the bar. Even though a waiter was present and the bar only had 4 customers. They seemed to have more interest in dealing with room service customers as a priority how ever it looks rude from a customer point of view when a que forms and the 1 waiter is rushing off to the rooms. I even asked the 3 staff on the reception if one person could serve at the bar and I got a mucky look as if I disturbed there conversation.
Nice bathroom, toilet. Staff friendly and helpful. Room service after hours egg mayo baguette was nice & well presented.
Carpet where bed cover meets floor was dirty. Lots of banging of trolleys after 1am (we knew there was a party, so maybe this accounts for it), Wi-fi download was capped/blocked the next morning although we only tried to d/l one PDF document. No Tuna available from room service (in a Four Star hotel? Really, no tins of Tuna?).
