It is a lovely old building which has retained it character and history. The plumbing in the bathroom was poor and quite smelly at times. The hotel are aware of this problem in some rooms and told us on check out that if we reported this on a future visit they would endeavour to move us.

Most of the staff were extremely helpful The location was good for the city centre, just a short walk and good parking facilities so you had no need to drive anywhere The breakfast was comprehensive and staff ensured nothing ran out. Breakfast room was well organised and the staff were very helpful, you could order porridge for example. Overall the hotel was kept very clean The second room we were given at the front of the hotel was excellent The bathrooms are lovely I didn't like the first room we were given as it was directly above the function room and at 3.0 in the afternoon the music was so loud the furniture was vibrating. I didn't like the manner of the duty manager who managed to make me feel as though it were somehow my fault that I didn't want to sleep in a disco. I also disliked his dissembling when asked if the music would be over by midnight...a straight 'no' would have been better. I didn't like his initial refusal to allocate a different room.

Really nice and friendly staff the hotel should be proud of them. The first room we stayed in felt dirty, the carpet was worn and the wallpaper looked shabby and there were cup rings stained on the wood, the second room was the same. We got upgraded to an executive room - it was like a standard room - however the bathroom was nice, yet unfinished with wires hanging from the towel rail..! And the bathroom suite did not match. The hallways in the hotel were very shabby, the whole hotel needs a much needed upgrade. The breakfast was shocking - nearly raw bacon, cheap sausages, warm tomatoes, over fried hash browns and lukewarm beans - the same for 3 days, I always look forward to a breakfast when someone else cook it, I ate tea and toast, really bad, cooks need to start taking pride in their work. All the TV's in the room are all medium sized old fashioned TV's, they look at least 20 years old, quite bad really. Last one - we placed our bags behind the reception while waiting for our train - it was really dirty needs money spent on it, carpet was shocking, the poor staff should not have to work in these conditions.

Beautiful grade 2 listed building, close to the city centre and convenient for visiting our daughter who is at the University of Sheffield. The Holiday Inn sign on the front of the building was not in keeping with a grade 2 listed structure. Wallpaper coming off on 2nd floor which made it look shabby. Machine for toasting bread at breakfast a real pain so we didn't bother. Didn't spoil the good breakfast though.

Room size and comfort of beds Breakfasat was poor, it has been out to long and dried up and having to pay extra to park was a bit steap, I would rather it was included in the cost

Bar prices seemed fair. Access to this hotel is awful. You can see it but because of Sheffields one way system it is difficult to get to. Thought car park was included in price.... it wasn't. Breakfast was very basic and cooked foods drying out.

Nice hotel in an old building with loads of character. The staff I met were friendly enough. Comfortable and clean rooms. The breakfast was very average and could be a lot better. The eggs were out too long and like rubber. The fruit was mostly canned but the watermelon was fresh, I mean cut from a melon on the premises and obviously been there for days as it was soggy and fermenting. The hotel has also just built a sleeping policeman on the drive up to the hotel. This was far too high and loads of people were grounding their cars on it, even at very slow speeds. The Hotel is also very difficult to access from certain directions. I could see the thing and could not find a way in!! A pedestrian kindly helped me out and sympathized as he knew exactly what I was going through!

Our particular room and those of our children in 2 other rooms adjacent seemed to be above the room where a party with band/karaoke was taking place. One room actually shook due ro the noise. This disturbed our sleep until after 1am. We think that these rooms should not be hired to guests when there is a party. This has put us off coming to the hotel again.

The hotel retains a lot of character from the past, it is well maintained. The quality of food in the restaurant for the evening meal was very good. The hotel room (facing into the inside of the building) was very warm and there was no air-conditioning.

Close vicinity to Institute of sport and city centre Awful directions to find the hotel entrance on the one way system. Huge issue as sat nav only takes you to the ring road. Luckily I know the area - impossible if not. No signage until you are almost on top of it.

Hard to find anything. Shabby, hard to find, looks over a building site, old fashioned, not particularly clean, breakfast unimaginitive and tasteless, dining room chairs filthy, crumbs on the table cloth, 4ft 6ins bed, unheard of in hotel of this price, bedroom carpet dirty. Forget this hotel pay the extra and stay in the Hilton over the road, lovely!

Staff were friendly and hotel was comfprtable and clean. ~It is an old grade 2 listed building . Our room (252) looked like it had been recently refurbished with a bright new bathroom. Close to the city centre without being too close.

Bathroom in rooms are excellent - modern and clean. Shower is really good. Buffet breakfast is excellent - lots to choose from and plenty of it, although a little salty. Food prices are far too high. No freeview TV. Bedroom itself is a little outdated and dull. No complimentary biscuits or hot chocolate. Currently on a building site - no noise, but not a great view. Taxi service used by the hotel isn't reliable - either the receptionist didn't bother to book it or the electronic booking system failed. We had to order another and were therefore 20 minutes late.
