Courteous staff The quality of room was fairly average even though your hotel is rated as **** Heating is not regulated.Furniture including sinks/bath are fairly old. Lacks modern decor! Looks more appealing on photo but actually is not

The buffet breakfast as the food becomes dry and tastless, but importantly if you ask for the poached eggs you have to toast the bread which then gets cold because they bring the poached eggs out on a plate for you to then put on the cold toast.

I visited with a friend (both in our seventies). Staff extremely friendly efficient and helpful especially our waitress in the dining room in the evening. Having read poor reports about the food we were impressed both with the breakfast and the two evening meals. The parking was good and the frequent bus service into York centre was excellent. Our only criticism was that the bathroom in room 204 is in need of some upgrading. It was clean and well equipped but the shower is feeble and the taps on the bath are too close to the wall and awkward to turn on and off.

Very expensive and didnt find it value for money,as it cost us seven pounds via taxi into town. Also found it very expensive for drinks, and a total rip off for echo falls wine costing 18pound a bottle.

Room had all the essentials (fridge, iron, hair dryer, kettle). Really friendly staff. We found the bed a bit uncomfortable, but for a 2 night stay it was bearable and ideal for a weekend trip

Very poor hotel. Very over priced. Fittings hanging off in the bathroom. Had evening meal which was awful. Cold and badly cooked. Mine was undercooked and my partners burnt. Complained but nothing was done. Will never stay at Holiday Inn again. Travel lodge or Premier Inn lot better value. Was discussed had to pay to have Wi-Fi. Listed at £130:00 per night would expect free Wi-Fi.

We got in really early at about 4 am and the gents in the reception were very nice enough to let us check in as the room was ready. Now, that's what I call a real classy service. They were also helpful with all sorts of information. The bathroom is clean and feels nice but the shower pressure could be better and the commode in the bathroom is a little too tall for children.

Couldn't fault it, lovely room + facilities, very modern and spotlessly clean. We booked a long time in advance and got a really good rate making the stay excellent value for money. Didnt have the breakfast so can't comment, but the bar staff and reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend no biscuits on the tea and coffee tray, but maybe that was because we got such a cheap rate? Couldn't really grumble

Medium sized galls of ordinary white wine in the bar over £6! Nice move - at check in 15 mins after 2pm they only had twin bedded rooms available but 'sir' could upgrade for a discounterd £10 to superior room which fortunately was a double bedded room!

Convenient location. Good breakfast We booked the hotel because it offered a smoking room, specially for my 93 year old pipe smoking father in law. No one bothered to inform us the hotel had discontinued smoking rooms six months ago. Nor did booking.com. Would never have booked it had we known.

Very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Very good breakfast choice. Bed duvet on my single (one of twin) bed was a bit small and thin. Wi-fi should be free or a nominal charge - I know business colleagues who avoid hotels that do not have complimentary wi-fi or free access to computers in the foyer.
