Nice sized room with plenty of space, first rate choices for breakfast and a very helpful and knowledgeable owner.Everything was spotless and a good selection of informative leaflets about York. It is also on a very frequent bus route so there is no need to drive your car into the city.

There was complete freedom to come and go, so that you could return late at night and have no problem. The breakfast was very good. The parking was not easy, though the snowy weather just worsened everything anyway. We were lucky in getting a space on the nearby side-road. As for the bedroom, the king-size bed took up a lot of space and because of the squeaks whenever one of us moved, we had 3 poor nights' sleep. The tiny en-suite was like an ice-box as it had a long window in without double glazing. OK in a heat-wave but below standard for the Winter, considering the cost of staying there.

We had a comfortable, large room which had been recently refurbished. The hotel is clean and warm and welcoming. It is within 20 minutes walk of the centre of York along a pleasant riverside walk. Regular buses go to York and the designer centre. Excellent breakfast each morning. Friendly owner. Shower room cold.

Not absolutely new, shiny or outstanding in any particular way but generally good all round. My room was clean, comfortable and well presented with a couple of decorative touches that showed a real effort had been made to make things look nice, all in all it had a pleasant, homely feel. The bathroom was clean and fresh with a bath and electric shower unit, the water pressure was on the low side but usable. The dining area downstairs was clean, comfortable and well presented. Breakfast in the morning was very good, cereals and fresh fruit salad and grapefruit (tinned) were available and the full English was freshly cooked and substantial. All in all, not the Ritz but a good, homely b&B. I'd stay there again! My room was right at the top of the house and a long way away from the wireless router, as a result the wifi signal was poor and patchy, I ended up tethering my phone instead. Other than that, no grumbles, all good!

The hotel is in a great location if you plan to look around the city of York. The bus pick up is close and the service is frequent. The hotel is very clean and the owner is a very nice person who helped accomodate all of our needs. The breakfast was excellant and well cooked. When we made the reservation we asked that they help us with our luggage, assistance was provided for our needs. We highly recomend this b&B.

The friendliness of the hostess and the breakfast fry up! Additionally when we arrived we were given wine glasses, ice, bottled water and a flask with fresh milk. Although on a busy main road it was not noisy and we had an undisturbed sleep. Instead of the four poster bedroom the hostess recommended us to stay in room 6 with the lovely comfy king size bed :-) The bathroom - separated in to two - very small and shower was claustrophobic for us 6 footers! Size of room was quite small and so was TV was difficult to see it laying in bed. Not enough toiletries provided - only one of each and not enough for two of us.

Very help and accommodating staff. Parking is cramped but we had no problems. Ideal location for city and the surrounding area. The shower enclosure needed repairing as one of the sliding doors wasn't correctly attached.

Ideal Bed and breakfast - clean and tidy, all local product at breakfast which was one of the best we have tasted. The proprietor Hayley Carlyle was wecoming throughout our stay, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The river walk into the city was particulary pleasant. About 15 minutes. York is a nice place to visit, staying at the Hollies was the icing on the cake. We hope to be able to stay at the Hollies again.
