This place is under renevation and should be closed whilst undergoing, it was fullof safety concerns and issues with rooms and conditions. Everybody who stayed i heard complaints from.
Staff were very attentive, they couldn't do enough.
Not wheelchair friendly Do with a good clean
Hollin Hall is a lovely location and beautiful building. Spoilt by attitude of staff and it is far frm clean! Urine surrounded our toilet and my steak cooked medium raw was just warm. But.. I could relax in the building again and again as it is that that makes it a good place to visit!
See what i did like
Food was good Value for money Staff friendly with
The views , the food , the staff
The old bit of the property is quite nice. My bed was quite comfortable.
Rooms are in attached modern building which feels like a motel from a couple of decades ago. My room had not been serviced properly - used tea cup, bin full of rubbish. WiFi did not work.
We did not reserve breakfast before, although I did it, but it was not registered. And then it was almost impossible to get breakfast, alhtoughwe were ready to pay it, unbelievable show to get it.
Only had an overnight stay but staff were friendly, food excellent and hotel was clean and well equipped even though you could see it was in the process of being refurbished.
Staff all extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. Facilities in the room eg tea , coffee and biscuits really welcome. Hair drier was very good quite often these are inadequate but yours was excellent
Heating inadequate Extra heating radiators supplied made a big difference but the fitted radiator should have been working. Room 36 bathroom floor needs replacing. Currently being updated ?
We booked two twin rooms, they had us down as wanting one double. The place was being decorated, smelt of paint and wet paint on some walls but no warning signs. It should have been closedwhile the work was being done
Comfortable beds and clean.friendly staff
Elecric radiator and heater fan as central heating not working.all lights not working only bed side light, but they were having renovation at the time. Freezing in the bar and corridors.
Position. Breakfast. Hot hot water. Take dogs.
Charge £25 per dog, more than charge for 2 adults having breakfast. Professed deep clean would be the same after 2 dogs as after 1, so charge not fair. Most expensive dog charge ever experienced.
everything was a super place to stay found by chance and will use again
Myself and my partner regularly stay here the rooms are beautiful lovely location staff very friendly always there to help
There's nothing i really can't complain about hollin hall except I would also have breakfast there when I stay but think it's a little too expensive
Bed was very comfortable
It all looked a bit tired
The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming, which as I was staying over the Christmas period was a definite plus. The staff (those whom I encountered) were friendly and helpful and the bedroom and bathroom were comfortable, clean and certainly large enough for me. I would choose to pay a bit more for a room in a 'better' part of the building if I was going to be there during the day, but would certainly be happy to stay in the hotel again.
The room I was in was a bit tired but for what I paid it was no more than I expected. There was a distinct whiff of what seemed like drains in the corridor leading to my room but was not present in the room itself. These the only negatives I experienced but I was out during the day and did not use any of the hotel facilities so cannot comment on those. Overall I had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel.
Imposing building and public areas. Warm welcome from staff. Efficient service
Some roons a little tatty and dated but clean and serviceable
This was a spur of the moment, same day booking. Excellent service, excellent food. It was clean & comfortable.
The rooms could do with a bit of refurbishment.
Bed was very old, could feel the steel mattras springs.
Very conveniently situated for visiting family in the area. Very good breakfasts. Pleasant staff
Not very suitable if you have mobility problems, even if you have a ground floor room you have to go upstairs to go down again! There is a lift but that only takes you up and down to ground floor, you still have to walk downstairs from first floor to reach reception
Not really sure.
Everything. It wasn't a good stay.
The staff were friendly
There was no heating in the hotel, it was freezing cold, the water tap in the bathroom splurted out and the shower was going from very hot too very cold not the best experience we stayed in the exec room which was nothing great, then on my return later in the week there was still no heating and the room was very basic, we did not chance eating in the hotel, I would not return very dissapointed
Food was very good. Staff helpful under pressure.
Room dusty and mouldy. Heating had broken down everywhere cold especially dining room. No tv signal all night. Wedding disco noise till1am. Downstairs toilets discusting. It took half hour to check out. Everyone was moaning about the hotel.
Location, friendly staff, lovely food, large room, massive bed, not too much noise from neighbouring rooms, table decorations are good and seat decoration.
No heating in room apart from a small oil heater that took ages to heat up and didn't heat the room much before switching itself off, the tv remote didn't work as it should, lamp on one side of the bed didn't work, kettle was on the window ledge so could not stay there when the curtains were drawn shut, not enough light in the bathroom to do make-up, signage not very clear to rooms,
Location pretty Evening meal quite good
Scruffy in places Breakfast - many items on menu not available Senior staff did not seem to go out of their way to oblige but other staff more helpful
