The staff were friendly
There was no heating in the hotel, it was freezing cold, the water tap in the bathroom splurted out and the shower was going from very hot too very cold not the best experience we stayed in the exec room which was nothing great, then on my return later in the week there was still no heating and the room was very basic, we did not chance eating in the hotel, I would not return very dissapointed
Food was very good. Staff helpful under pressure.
Room dusty and mouldy. Heating had broken down everywhere cold especially dining room. No tv signal all night. Wedding disco noise till1am. Downstairs toilets discusting. It took half hour to check out. Everyone was moaning about the hotel.
Location, friendly staff, lovely food, large room, massive bed, not too much noise from neighbouring rooms, table decorations are good and seat decoration.
No heating in room apart from a small oil heater that took ages to heat up and didn't heat the room much before switching itself off, the tv remote didn't work as it should, lamp on one side of the bed didn't work, kettle was on the window ledge so could not stay there when the curtains were drawn shut, not enough light in the bathroom to do make-up, signage not very clear to rooms,
Location pretty Evening meal quite good
Scruffy in places Breakfast - many items on menu not available Senior staff did not seem to go out of their way to oblige but other staff more helpful
mouldy musty smell to the room, no heating on very cold. unfinished decoration, holes in bathroom wall, dangerous wiring protruding from the wall
Good location with nice views to the front. The food was good.
Smelly, dusty restaurant. The bedroom was dated and also smelt a little damp. Did not enjoy the climb up and down several flights of stairs with bad knees no mention of a lift! Found it on leaving blocked by laundry!
The location of the hotel was excellent for getting out and about. The look of the building was lovely and the feel of being in an old manor house was very nice. Although there was a wedding reception taking place we did not experience any disruption. As we were visiting relatives we did not eat in the hotel.
The room was cold and although there was a small electric oil heater this was not switched on to air the room. There was no central heating and so the bathroom was freezing cold but the tap water was very hot. Another heater was provided which helped in the bedroom. The TV remote did not work. Neither did others brought in by a very helpful member of staff. A bit disappointing.
View & grand old building at front Breakfast Room
Modern, rather functional extension at back
Place is tired, worn out and run down. Desperately in need of a refurb.
The staff were very obliging and helpful. My husband can't do stairs, so they took us through the room that was housing a wedding.
The gps took us on a very long and narrow road to get there.
Breakfast and the room, the chef was rude when we asked for more bacon and saus when people has been waiting in the eating area for over 15mins for them.. Room was average but a buzzing noise all night kept us up.. We was at a wedding reception and there was nowhere near enough bar staff on
Staff are very nice
The damp smell that pervades rooms 21ish to 37. Vastly overpriced for such tired rooms.
Food was good, friendly reception
Some rooms are extremely small (58 for example) Basically no water pressure in the showers of room 58 and 56, having a shower is no fun at all there.
Great staff great food lovely setting
Parking was a bit of a nightmare even worse when there was a wedding
The wedding we attended, the outside of the hotel and the bar / function room.
The corridors and outside of rooms are in a terrible state bare brickwork showing, holes in walls, no door frame in places, huge gaps where skirting boards are missing, fire extinguisher not attached to wall, our room was high up yet the window had no safety features for people with children the window just opened wide out with no lock, the tv was low down with wires leading up to socket, the window was thick with dirt and mildew and dead flies, the curtains were dirty and hanging torn off the hooks the kettle had water in and was old and filthy, the carpet was disgusting with stains and marks everywhere, the walls hsd dirt marks, unclean spillages and cracks all over, the bathroom was old, dated and dirty with mildew on the tiles and shower curtain, hairs on the toilet , holes in the dirty door and in the flooring which was the type of flooring you expect to see in a hospital. What i find outrageous is that this hotel is allowed to charge £95 or more for a room in this poor, poor state which in all honestly i would say the room would be hazardous to health and should not be in use.
This hotel was near where my family live .
This hotel is in desperate need of gutting, the paint, woodwork, carpets all need replacing.there was mold on the window frames/ shower curtain.the handle of door had made a hole in the wall.Blind was falling off wall.No heating. Will never return, wouldnt have stayed only travelodge was fully booked.
The main building and the setting was very nice even though it was miles from anywhere, it was cheap (for good reason)!!!
The service was poor we had dinner on the first night in the hotel to which was very expensive to which the food was very average. It was also very dark everywhere to which I was told when I asked "the owner likes it this way' I can only imagine it's to hide the ridiculous amount of work required to make it look to the standard of the very airbrushed photos they have online! The beds were old and uncomfortable with springs digging in your back, the shower was Luke warm at best and it was as powerful as a tap drip (again awful) no lock on the toilet door, no fresh towels, beds not made for the whole 4 days tea/coffee facilities were not replenished, unable to get terrestrial tv channels and once staff were called to fix the problem they never turned up! Great place apart from all that not! Although the travel home was good! Sorry I also forgot the wifi was rubbish too...
My room was comfortable and spacious...loved the separate bath and shower.
I had to wait quite a while for anyone to greet me as I entered the hotel...there was no bell or telephone to seek help. The reception staff when they realized I was there did not inform me where breakfast would be served or what time or point out any other facilities ....I was given basic directions to my room....
A couple of friendly helpful staff - the rest were just rude and unhelpful
My family have Saturday 25th October 2014, and have been booked in for 3 nights The website misrepresents the rooms in particular the Showers for example - when you visit the Hotel it is nothing like what the website states - Disappointment does not come near - we thought you had walk in showers because my mum struggles to get into a bath. The mixer Tap and shower was something out of a Bargain shop. 1. The reason for our stay was an early celebration of my mothers birthday who has had heart problems and is registered disabled. But after we checked in on Saturday we were informed that there was a wedding on and that my mother would not be able to use the lift and will have to use the stairs to go to the bar etc because of the night reception was for wedding guests only. So she couldn't leave her room to go to the bar. Great Start Not only that, there was a disco on Sunday night and another wedding tonight (Monday). So we couldn't access the bar through the function room and Sunday we wanted to have a drink to toast my late father whose birthday it would have been - instead my mum was prisoner in her own room. 2. We noticed that the remote control was not working and after several requests to your reception to get a replacement, one arrived last night (Sunday) 30 hours later! So is that how this hotel treats its disabled customers? 2. We were also informed that the heating wasn't working and as I type this 48 hours later, the heating still hasn't worked. Instead we were told to use a portable heating fan that was in the wardrobe. 3. Hotel Fire Doors There are 3 fire doors that have either been wedged open ( at the top of the main stairs) and had its closing mechanism lever removed from the top of the door (at the end of our corridor) These are legal requirements and as such should be working correctly and kept closed at all times when not in use.
staff room ok but we only paid £39 if i had paid full price would have been dissappointed breakfast good
too many stairs assess to lift not good full of rubbish wedding meal not good service very slow not good for elderly or disabled should not be open to public when a wedding is there
A lovely clean room, staff were helpful and food from bar menu good.
Hotel needs refurbishment. Hotel has weddings at weekend so if your looking for a quite place to relax it may not be so quite.
Some staff friendly, some staff weren't especially when attempting to check in! Stacey was fantastic - fantastic with the wedding organising.
Rooms not totally clean, only left one towel for 2 adults sharing. Breakfast the following morning had no milk left no eggs left and that was from 9.15 when served until 10.00 with neither replaced.
it was a cold night and the radiator did not work The carpet in the room was stained in several places
Room was nice ,our wing was nice,we attended a wedding ,food was very nice and catered for almost a hundred, wedding went very good ,both rooms used and were very nicely done
The windows in every room I went in were dirty inside and out, hire of a window cleaner might be a good idea ,I also went in several rooms which were not the newer ones they were horrible ,mold on ceilings ,wall paper hanging of mold in bathrooms and sinks awful I would have stayed in any of these rooms deco from the ninetys or older, stains on carpets and beds,I've seen better carpets and curtains in skips, lots of money needs to spent and if was brought up the other room standards I think the hotel could be very good ,hope they sort it out would a shame if they lose buisness through all the bad rooms
Pleasant and quiet location. Public rooms good but open fire would have been appreciated.
Bedroom and bathroom very dated and need urgent overhaul. They were not very clean, carpet, skirting boards, grouting and tiling unclean.
