No bad experience pleased to say
Lovely old building with lots of caricature, great food, friendly helpful staff.
As others have mentioned, the rooms need a bit of TLC - marks on walls, old worn carpets. Massive TV covered the only mirror in the room...
Good WiFi, comfortable bed, good location, friendly staff, overall good value.
No bad things at all
THE ENCHANTED OLD WORLD CHARM And elite service of the kindly staff.
Very nice restaurant good food and service
Not very well organised
The food was good
Rooms are looking a little tired
Friendly staff, especially reception Good food
Disappointingly basic room- even more basic bathroom - nowhere to put anything non working heated towel rail. Toiletries not replaced& cups not washed properly. Felt like a separate building.
Comfortable ambience of downstairs reception, restaurant and bar / lounge areas.
The dismal entrance and reception.
The beautiful architecture The clean bedroom The efficient shower
Waited 20 minutes to get into the room as no one had checked the batteries in the door lock! There was no remote for the tv, the bathroom had paint splashes on the mirror it's shelf and the drinking glass on the shelf. There was mastic on the bathroom floor and shower curtain. Carpet was dirty along the skirting board, view out of the window was a brick wall and the window frame was rotten. Manager promised remuneration and was nowhere to be seen in the morning. Paid £69 for what was only worth £20.
Breakfast wasn't the best
Evening meals were excellent
The room was probably the worst I have ever stayed in. Not clean, mouldy ceiling, dust everywhere, cracked bath, shower that did not work, terrible lighting and oppressive atmosphere.
The meal I had in the restaurant was excellent.
The carpets furnishings were tatty and it was a bit dated, but I get the impression this is being dealt with as we could see rooms being decorated.
Tired, old and bedrooms desperate for attention!! Bathroom bins are disgusting. Too busy for room service order and when it arrived things missing. Will never use again.
Beautiful bar area. Staff tried to help.
Dirty plates in the hall. They were there when I booked in and still there several hours later when I came in from a night out.
Location was good as I had a meeting in Bollington!
The original room not being ready or fit for purpose.
I liked this hotel which formerly was someone's home. The rooms are fairly comfortable and the duty staff obliging, doing as much as possible to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.
Only problem was breakfast was self service & it was slow was waiting around for the food to come out
Room was lovely staff were great
Room smelt mouldy, bathroom floor patched up. Shower sprayed water all over bathroom. Service slow and all appeared new with little knowledge of services/products available
The food was a great standard
Cold so had to have 2 fan heaters going, then went to watch telly and the channels kept losing the signal so restricted to bbc and itv terrestrial only. So decided to watch on my iPad but the wifi so slow this wasn't possible. And the shower didn't work in the morning.
Very concerned about the overflowing skip near the frontage of the hotel. Also the builders rubbish at the rear near the fire exit which poses a real threat to safe evacuation. The breakfast plates were cold. A member of staff wanted to charge us for breakfast when in fact it had already been paid for. Luckily a new member of staff on reception spotted the mistake.
The setting was beautiful and the rooms downstairs had many original tasteful features. The bed was very comfortable, had a good night's sleep.
Rooms were ok smallest bath ever. Steepest hill in world....i include some mountains , between hotel and village
Old country house converted to hotel.lots of mahogany. High ceilings and mouldings in public areas. Good shower. Great location in peaks. Rural
Unfortunately, the lack of cleanliness in the room let everything down. Carpet was very dirty with mould underneath radiator. TV was covered in dust which didn't seem to bother anyone. Used coffee cup wasn't replaced, neither was used coffee and sugar from courtesy coffee bowl.
Hotel staff are friendly and do try to accomodate for trvellers requirements
This place is under renevation and should be closed whilst undergoing, it was fullof safety concerns and issues with rooms and conditions. Everybody who stayed i heard complaints from.
Not wheelchair friendly Do with a good clean
Staff were very attentive, they couldn't do enough.
See what i did like
Hollin Hall is a lovely location and beautiful building. Spoilt by attitude of staff and it is far frm clean! Urine surrounded our toilet and my steak cooked medium raw was just warm. But.. I could relax in the building again and again as it is that that makes it a good place to visit!
