We stayed at Hollin Hall for 2 nights with our sons and their girlfriends. We were very impressed with all the staff they were friendly helpful and always seemed to be smiling the atmosphere was warm and cosy .We ate in the restaurant on our first night and had a gourmet 3 course dinner stylish creative gorgeous all freshly cooked of the highest standard,we are a foodie family and rarely find restaurants that impress us as we are all good cooks and can often create better food at home, but this was the best we have tasted for a very long time .Well done to the chef and all the waiting staff , Breakfast also great.Wish we could have stayed longer, but my waistline did not agree.Thank you all

Character as we walked in was immediately noticeable. Staff dealt with issues fairly swiftly. Rooms we were given were a bit dated and didnt have the same character as when we first walked into the building. Room was a bit damp so had to move. Room service took 35 mins to bring up a sandwich (only 5 for a beer!!)

We were attending a Wedding at near by Shrigley Hall and chose to stay at Hollin Hall as it cost half the price of staying at Shrigley. The room was basic but the bedding was clean and the towels were white and fresh. Th hotel had a damp smell and the corridors and decor were dated . The view out of the window was horrendous, filthy back yard with the air conditioning units, if I hadn't have been for a one night wedding stay I would have asked to be moved but it fitted the purposes for a budget night stay. The breakfast was ok but no

The staff, although mostly inept at there jobs, were very friendly This is singly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! A magnificent old victorian house with incredible views and location, but with staff, that, although friendly and helpful, didnt have much of an idea how a hotel was run. The room was falling apart, small outdated, dirty, 1 towel for both of us, the shower was falling off the wall, and the toilet wouldnt flush. The bed was from either the 2nd world war or they bought it at ikea when they got the pillows. The guttering had broken outside the window, and emptied 2 stories down onto a plastic roof. The noise all night was deafening! The room must have been 28 degrees, with no climate control at all the window only opened about 1 inch. Magnificent restaraunt, but really average over priced food Fire alarm in the nite as well. Avoid like the plague!!!!!!!

The hotel is in very shabby condition. Our room was cold and smelled very musty. Two of the walls were just painted brick. A chunk of rough timber was put between the headboard and the brick wall behind which looked terrible. The furniture in the room had not been dusted. There were hairs on the shower tiles from the previous guests and unsavoury marks in the toilet bowl which I thought must be scratces but actually easily came off when I used the toilet brush. Breakfast was chaotic with no apparant organisation although my partner found the food to be satisfactory. The milk for my cereals and fruit juice I had were room temperature not chilled. We had booked for 2 nights but after seeing the room changed the booking to just the one night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely setting - but weather poor so did not get chance to really see it. Public rooms (lounge, restaurant etc) excellent. Bedroom we had was beginning to look in need of refurbishment. No control over heat (too hot at night), and wallpaper dated and beginning to peel. Beds were ok, but not over comfortable!

much improved since our previous stay some years ago. There has obviously been some investment made as the rooms were nicer, better beds, bathroom in better state of repair, and the wi-fi worked quite well. Top marks for the full English breakfast! Wifi did not work in all rooms. Layout is very poor for old / disabled people.

The staff were fantastic and really made the stay. I was disappointed by the room and Xmas lunch was not value for money as the portions were meager, service slow and either under or over cooked. A pity as other meals were good. Older paper was lovely ... Our room was grubby with damp in the bathroom. Disappointing! See above.

“We had a great stay at the Buckingham, we stayed in a suite wich was large and well laid out, the only thing i would have like in such a large bathroom would have been a shower as well as a bath. We had an evening meal at the hotel which was excellcent and good valve, the breakfast was also well cooked and staf very helpful. Would return again.” Gary, High Wycombe, Bucks |
