Location lovely tasty breakfast occasion went smoothly and seemed organised . Pleasant staff
Setting in a semi rural countryside. Quality of restaurant good.
Shower was either scalding hot or cold, no in between., symptomatic of an aging building. Shower head, although new, gave inadequate water flow. Wedding receptions crested noise disruption.
Beautiful views, nice breakfast and a good location.
Could have been cleaner in the bathroom.
Poorly trained / understaffed Waiting 15+ mins for bar service Rooms done to a very poor standard- shoddy workmanship, dirty and tired. Has the potential to be a beautiful hotel and wedding venue but at the moment is a great let down which is a shame.
Carpet in my room was old, bit dirty and torn in places. The room itself looked dated and in need of a lick of paint!!
Comfortable beds. Nice and quiet despite a wedding being on each night we stayed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff actually showed us a quicker way to get to reception.
Hotel name in very small print above the restaurant name. Very hard to spot and we were not the only guests to say that to reception. The room was in desperate need of decoration. The shower head moved from side to side when the shower was in full flow.
The help given by all staff. The meals in the restaurant were very good.
Unfortunately we arrived on the day of a wedding and it was rather noisy but we gave credit to all the staff that they did their best to make us feel comfortable.
Room was eventually "upgraded" to a better room. GM's prompt response and intervention.
Bathroom(s) in need of desperate repair/ maintenance. Staff ignored complaints / request, promised a solution and did nothing. Just left for the day and did not even deem it fit to pass complaint info to night staff. Worst night ever!!!!
I booked Hollin Hall Hotel very last minute before the August Bank Holiday weekend. I then read the reviews and thought I had made a big mistake. However, we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived and were put into a newly refurbished room/bathroom which was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent and we had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. I would recommend this hotel.
The shower was a bit temperamental running from cold to hot and back without warning.
bed was comfy
price of breakfast price of room
Clean rooms. Good food. Great customer service
Bathroom outdated and shabby. Corridors in room areas shabby but clean
The general look of the bar restaurant is OK....just ok...The hotel is falling apart. Bed was comfy.
Rooms, corridors, doors, carpet reminded a horror movie...it's totally filthy. The management keep telling that the hotel is under refurbishment but the main problem of it is that they don't like cleaning. They can make it 100% refurbished but if they don't clean the place, it will remain a filthy hole. I wouldn't have cared about the old furniture and dated decors if it was clean. After all I only wanted a room to sleep and I ended up with a bed...yes only a bed as all around the bed was a total disaster such as lights did not work properly, there are no bedside lights and I had to stend up to switch the light on...only god knows what that carpet saw...We went there just because we could not find an alternative...If you can, DO NOT GO.
Had to ask twice to have the toilet cleaned upon arrival. Took 3 requests to find a remote that worked. Wedding on our last night (a Sunday) kept us up until 1 am. No one to complain to, reception did not answer the phone. Generally, worn out rooms and overpriced. Bed lumpy. Hotel has to decide whether to host weddings or be a hotel, it can't do both.
Bedroom was above the bar. Music was so loud it was impossible to hear the tv. Sleep was impossible. Staff gave out misleading information. We arrived at 5.30 but were unable to get any food until 9.00. Rooms were shabby and were in the process of being redecorated. They had an odd smell.
Location in the countryside and close to Macclesfield.
It is great having good looking chandeliers in the dining area but it better when they can work. Water pressure is very poor in the shower mode
the old house could be lovely.
very dirty bedroom- major disappointment and no excuse for poor cleanliness. hadn't been cleaned properly for a long time.
Location Hotel from the front
Musty/damp smell in bedrooms, Breakfast too expensive, Noisy at night from other guests Rooms at the back are a 70's extension, initially we had a view of a brick wall! Wifi was very poor
nice building and very nice breakfast
no wifi in rooms windows needed a bit of maintenance no room service at 8.30/9pm and i only wanted something light like some chips or a sandwich- very early not to do room service
The staff were attentive and the room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was also very nice as it was included with the room rate.
The shower was very poor, despite looking brand new. The internal decor of the hotel (except the main reception and lounge) was dated.
It was my brothers wedding and everything was just perfect the whole day
Beautiful main entrance and staircase. Hotel set in nice grounds. Bed very comfortable. Lovely meal for wedding.
Shower pressure not very good.
Staff were very accommodating; public areas lovely. A great place to stay for people wanting to ramble in the Peak District.
Room uncomfortable and without WiFi access, although it was available elsewhere.
Entrance and restaurant very impressive. Good service overall
Difficult to find and bedrooms were a bit drab.
Windows were dirty. Walls were scuffed. 3 star is probably accurate. There was nothing wrong specifically, just had a feeling of 'tiredness'. Corridor to rooms was instutionalised; staff didn't give me my room number of explain how the electrics worked. I was expected to find my room on my own, carrying my case up two flights of stairs - when I queried it, they took me to the lift through the 'service' areas which was rather off-putting and there was a fork lying on the floor. The next day I stayed at a hotel of similar price which was spotless and modernised - so much better.
The staff were helpful most of the time. The room was comfortable once a fan had been provided.
There was no air conditioning in the room where the wedding and lunch was held and the temperature was a bit unbearable.
