Hollins Hey Hotel & Restaurant

the rooms are run down and the hotel needs modernising. expensive for a b&b nowdays when you have breakfast.

The building, staff and food are excellent. The past shines through, with lots of paintings and photos of New Brighton in its heyday. We stayed in a lovely room with a (mahogony?) four poster bed with a sea-view.

Unfortunately some things are a little too worn with age, and the hotel would benefit from a sympathetic refurbishment. The water went cool during a shower for instance. Overall we loved the feel, but could understand fussier people being disappointed.

The service and food were excellent, Hotel is old but very clean and staff very attentive with excellent manners, a pleasent stay.

As I booked this on-line I was unaware that if I had booked direct with the hotel, the cost of the breakfast would have been included in the price of the room. Also the on-line price for breakfast was £6.50 but I was actually charged £9.50. This made the stay a little more expensive than it should have been.

We enjoyed our stay very much. A very friendly welcome. The room was comfortable and spotless, as was the bathroom. The food was excellent and we were well looked after. Indeed, in our case, above and beyond the call of duty! We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

As a woman travelling alone, I felt safe and looked after. The hotel was welcoming and had a friendly atmosphere throughout my stay. The meals were excellent. The service very good. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I intend to return at some point in the future and will recommend the Hollins Hey Hotel to my friends. I would like to thank Ian Curruthers, Bruno, Jackie and Adam for making my stay at the Hollins Hey Hotel so wonderful. X

The boiler had a problem one morning which meant the shower had no hot water. After contacting Bruno, this was soon fixed. My second room had a shower in the bath. This may have caused problems for those with mobility issues.

Superb menu -cannot be praised enough.

Tired decor in the bedrooms - the property is not a new Brand Hotel so the room decor was to be expected.

The helpfulness of the staff, the availibity of onsite parking and the standard and cleanliness of the rooms.

Nothing. Sadly we were in the area to attend a dear friend's funeral so just wanted a pleasant, affordable, well run hotel near to the church - basically somewhere hassle-free and comfortable. The Hollins Hey more than met all these requirements and I would recommend it to others visiting New Brighton.
