Comfortable bed and good breakfast. The location was ideal as a base for visiting places. A lovely garden and great views of the countryside.
The room was a bit cramped for space. We expected a bit more for the money we paid.
Room was very good. Beds super comfy. Bathroom clean, didn't appreciate small hole in ceiling, probably personal paranoia but all the same.
Was very disappointed in breakfast, which they say is excellent. Not so, fried eggs not freshly done, bacon cut down to just the eyes, so quite a sparse plate. Plenty of toast though.
Rude staff cramped room Bathroom door sticks vey badly Next to noisy A6 not clear on marketing Boutique price at £119 for b+b but not boutique standard
A great room (The Tack Room), with great breakfast, excellent friendly staff, in a beautiful location. The main building looked sumptuous (though didn't make use of the facilities due to being out & about). Rates are very good as well. Highly recommended for a couple looking for something romantic or a railway fanatic.
Nothing. even the road noise (the A6 runs outside) is minimal.
Man very pleasant .
Ladies didn't look too happy
Views excellent; nice quality antique furniture and good breakfast. Friendly team.
We felt that the hotel was excellent value for money, exceedingly comfortable and a generally lovely place to be. The setting was really fantastic and close to lovely places of interest. The food was of a very good standard and staff and owners friendly and helpful. Fabulous experience we would love to repeat.
Helpfulness of mine hostess when a crisis struck.
Our breakfast menu was forgotten on our second night so we had a "cobbled up" breakfast the next day.
Very clean, well appointed rooms Great location for exploring the dales and peaks. Away from the more touristy matlock, a good place to escape from the city. Great breakfast and very attentive staff/owner... Kate made us feel welcome and saw to our every need. Would highly recommend Holmefield :).
If there was a downsideto Holmefield, it was purely down to the proximity of the country road. This was never an issue at night, building is well insulated and we didn't hear a thing.

Noisy road Room a little small
Everything was excellent, the setting, the room, the bed,the facilities, the breakfast and especially the owners who were so helpful.
The room wasn't great, much smaller than expected or looked from website. Also service was not great
Lovely house in gorgeous countryside. Good breakfast and helpful staff
Decor a little fussy for me, but comfortable and welcoming.
We received a good welcome and the meals were excellent.
Everything it was spotless well decorated and well managed
The A 6 being so close
Lovely place to stay owners are very pleasant & very welcoming. Grounds are beautiful with amazing views. Coach house we stayed in very comfortable & clean no complaints what so ever. Definitely be staying again.
amazing guest house with an atmosphere of old England, highly recommended
very laid back happy for us to come and go as we pleased. quiet
The room was a little dark
The friendliness of the owners and the neatness and cleanliness of the accommodation. We thought that the whole room we had was well furnished and very attractive.
Too much furniture in a small space
Ample parking, nice views from the back. Mine was one of the most expensive rooms but I have paid less for more in the Peak District. Not 5 star.
Bathroom was very tight for space , bedroom would be quite small for two as would the wardrobe. The toiletries were not replenished daily - I am sure it wouldn't have been a problem to ask for more but you shouldn't have to . The owner was lovely but waitress was curt. Definitely not 5 star.
The helpful attitude when I was making the booking and had some worries about our arrival, and also the fact that you took the trouble to book a meal at a restaurant when you could not provide dinner on Friday night. General friendliness Table and comfortable chairs in the room, thought if we had been staying longer more storage space would have been welcome Availability of entertainment and drinks, though as it happened we didn't need them The area, with a variety of things to do: exploring and shopping in Bakewell (we fell for that town), going round another cave, and having a walk, as well as testing out various coffee or tea sites.
The busy road behind the house, though it was not intrusive once we were on the premises Awkwardness in parking - if the cars are close-packed it is difficult to turn round - did think of turning at the top and backing down to get a good angle for leaving but luckily neighbouring cars had gone A little disappointed with food; the bacon and sausages were overcooked and hard on both days, and we both felt the boeuf bourguignone was less than we had hoped. However, the lemon sorbet was very good.
Hosts were very welcoming, quality of food good and it was a solid, comfortable guest house.
Parking not easy and access into and out of property not easy but didn't spoil our holiday weekend.
Warm, informal hospitality. Good food in appealing dining room. Peaceful, beautiful vistas.
Heat wave made room uncomfortable, as window opening was limited and bed cover was a heavy duvet.
The staff were absolutely amazing also the most comfiest bed i have ever slept in. definitely would stay again.
