Less than a mile from York’s historic centre, this friendly hotel, built in 1870, retains stained glass windows and a splendid oak staircase. There are good-value rooms and a restaurant and bar.

Nice clean room good location good price for york even the continental style breakfast was a nice change free parking and free wifi excellent.
Beds were a little hard for me but thats a personal preference .
stayed in room 2 which was decorated well, and looked pretty. location was easy to get to and walking distance from York city centre
the size of the bathroom was ridiculous,it was impossible to open the door fully to get in as it hit the bed, once you got in you would have to do a 360 turn to use the toilet ,and it is impossible to wash your face in the tiny basin without bumping your head on the glass shelf situated above it ,and again you cannot fully open the shower door to get in the cubicle as it hits the basin. This room should not be advertised as having a unsuite as what it has is a cupboard. room 2 is also next to the stairs and the kitchen next to that, making it a very noisy room to stay in, and finally the pretty décor in the room is let down by the fact it needs a good dust on the shelf above our heads and the TV and the wardrobe were very dusty.
Bed was very uncomfortable
The bed is excellent. The breakfast was very nice. The host was very friendly.
The bathroom had a pump that makes very loud noises when you use the water or flush the toilet. The room is quite cramped.
The bed was comfortable, the staff was helpfull
The room was too small, nowhere to put our effects. The bathroom is tiny, Our ground floor room was only five feet from the street, we could hear everything passers by were saying,
location, nothing else, poor value for money
Small room, tiny bathroom, no air-conditioning, window doesn't open.
The location was great - less than ten minutes down one side, you have the railway station and less than ten minutes down the other, you have the castle, minster and city centre. the room was very clean. there is a generous supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the room. there were 4 power points - good if you need to charge more than one electronic device at one time. breakfast was generous (it might make you a little guilty if you can't finish it, though). the area is quiet, so you'll get a good night's rest.
the steps are pretty narrow, so you'll want to watch out for that. if you have heavy luggage, you'll have a bit of trouble getting it up. also, there's no one on site after 1pm. this didn't cause any problems for me, but it's something to bear in mind.
Room very comfortable and very clean! Breakfast delivered to room was a lovely idea
Great location and staff were excellent will definatley stay again in the future
Breakfast could have included hot food but was still very nice
Location was good, room was lovely , double room but disappointed two single beds pushed together not the best night sleep but it was ok, staff a little noisy in the mornings but in all fairness it was a pleasant stay
We loved the funky wall paper and the room was lovely bright and airy. Both slept well too.
Clean, comfortable, pretty room. We got breakfast, even though it was not included at the booking. Definitely recommend this place.
No staff, communication through written pins on the board and telephone texts. The iron is hardly working.
located on a quiet street 10 minutes walk from the centre.convenient parking, has all the things you need for a short stay. great people, very friendly!
The breakfast was a pleasant change to a full english, and we liked having it delivered personally to our room, and being able to enjoy it in private.
Our room door was left open after it had been serviced one day, and the key for the front door was the same key we used for our room, so we presumed all other guests would have access to our room as we would theirs. It didn't inspire confidence, I'm afraid.
Comfort of bed and quality of sleep
Bare minimum of facilities and breakfast arrangement
Getting ripped off
Nice B&B. Parking is free, and you're quite close to center of York. Good value for money.
Wireless is very slow, gets slower the higher up you are in house
Friendly welcome. Very helpful. Recommended good places to eat. Provided safe storage for our bicycles overnight.
No dining area. Breakfast brought up to room.
Comfortable bed. Parking permit. Good shower.
Lack of a person to meet you. Small room.
I loved the fab wall paper, that it was close to York town centre, the breakfast in your room in the morning and the friendly staff.
Although the room was comfortable and well presented, I felt the bathroom could of been abit cleaner, it was quite dusty. It would of been nice to have some shampoo samples in the room and a hairdryer as I didn't bring one and assumed there would be one in the room.
The room is very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast is simple and it is difficult to communicate with landlord.
Breakfast and the decor! Also we were given a parking permit which was very handy.
The room was very nicely decorated and very clean. The chocolates were a nice touch aswell as being able to help yourself to cereals, yoghurt and fruit for breakfast.
The room was small but crammed with furniture as well as a sloping ceiling making it something of an obstacle course ! The private bathroom was located down the hallway, once you had unlocked the door there were 2 steps to go down however I do not recall there being a warning on the outside of the door. There was no hot water coming from the taps the next morning.
Room and the quietness away from the busy city
