Really helpful staff, gave us a good guide to the city when we arrived and some suggestions of where to go. Couldn't have asked for more.

Very small bathroom/shower in room 1. television badly placed would make more sense to have it in the lovely little conservatory room.

The room was nicely decorated with an extremely comfortable bed and well- stocked hospitality tray. The bathroom was a fair size with a corner bath. The whole place seemed comfortable and welcoming, and the staff friendly. Although I had requested not to be on the ground floor, it was a very quiet room.

It was a fair walk into York (about 20 mins). It had not been made clear at point of booking that check-in finished at 9pm, which caused the owner (and me) some upset that I arrived after 10pm. The bathroom had carpet which had not been hoovered, and had a very noisy extractor fan which came on whenever the light was switched on. Sadly, the light above the sink didn't work either.

We booked a superior room which was ok but nothing special apart from a very large bed. It also had a large bath with spa but the water was not warm enough to use it. Staff were helpful booking us a restaurant and taxi.

Would have preferred a hotel with a bar and maybe a restaurant. Car park was very tight and would not park my own car in it. The spa bath in the superior room was of no use as the water was not warm enough.

Freindly staff, with very good breakfast provided.

The room had uncomfortable in-appropriate cane chairs. There was not enough shelving either in the room or bathroom for personal items. The walk was further into the City than expected.

Fantastic value and I believe the more expensive rooms are better value. Staff were very knowledgeable about the area and it had a good bath.

The extractor fan was a bit noisy and the neighbours were doing some building work.

Would hav been good to have satellite tv and movies in room and also room service for snacks. Hotel bit too far away to walk, further than expected.

The cold weather. Admission charges for everything in York, which made our trip very expensive.

Very helpful, friendly staff. Not too far from city centre, about 15 mins walk.

The heating was on a timer so at times our room was freezing which was unfair as we effectively paid for the heating. The breakfast was advertised as a full english when it is far from it, also they had run out of some food for breakfast which shouldn't happen there is only 12 rooms! Asked for a double bed, got two pushed together singles. Bathroom door wouldnt close and grout around bath needs re-doing as it actually caused a leak in a room below. I paid £250 for 3 nights. In my opinion is too expensive.

Bathroom had many faults: loo seat unstable as nuts were worn no toilet roll holder lid on bin broken no internal fan Bedroom too hot with no control over temperature

The location was great with just a 10/15 min walk to the town center. Breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice and the kippers were lovely. We both had the best weekend we could have asked for and felt right at home in this warm and friendly hotel. We will definitely be back to York again.

The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. The breakfast's were excellent and the cost was very reasonable.

On our first night we found the mattress too hard for our comfort. However, this was put right to our satisfaction the following morning.
