Macdonald Holyrood Hotel  

Our second visit and good standards have been maintained. Very comfortable in every respect.

Apart from kettle not working when we arrived this was soon rectified.

Very enjoyable stay, fairly quiet location with Royal Mile round the corner and Princes Street still in walking distance made it an excellent base for sightseeing and shopping.

The location, as it was exactly where we needed to be for our trip. A fantastic hotel with superb facilities. Again the location is ideal.

Did not like the pillows in the room. They were far too soft and lost their shape too easily. I had two as did my wife but she had to prop a towel underneath hers to plump the up a bit. Apart from that minor detail it was great.

Location was fantastic for both my conference (at our dunamic earth) and for the city centre and castle. I will definitely stay again and probably bring my husband :o)

The location was great. The staff were very nice.

I got one of the worst massages of my life-- very weak and not worth the money. I spent a small fortune on laundry, because the staff took a sack of my laundry without telling me how much it would cost or informing me that there was a special bag and form to fill out, and then wouldn't refund any of the money (careless on my part, but ridiculous that they would just do it without notifying me of the expense). The wired internet, which the hotel advertises, was uselessly slow, forcing me to pay a lot of money for the wireless internet. The mattress in the room was terrible and needs to be replaced. I'm never going back.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. Everyone one a smile on their face. It was so lovely to be in a hotel where the staff were all happy. The rooms were beautiful and clean, and very quiet.

Friendly very helpful, and eager to please.

A good quality hotel for a good price

Hotel is easy to find, about a 10 plus minute walk from the sky bus terminus. Staff are very helpfull, the reception area is commfortable and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. We managed to get a half price deal for room only which is well worth looking out for considering you get the use of the leisure centre facilities next door.

The fact that we didn't use the leisure centre facilities made the hotel price just right. The cost of drinks at the bar are expensive but it is a qualty hotel so not really a surprise.

Staff were very friendly.

Staff were friendly. Only bad point was that the milk pots in the room were sour so no morning tea or coffee for myself or husband

I got a great deal for the wekend stay and I can only say that for the amount that I paid it was way over my expectations. The service was outstanding, the room large and comfortable. I didn't buy breakfast at the hotel since I thought that it was a bit expensive, £ 15 for breakfast is for me to much money and that is the only negative that I have to say about my stay at this hotel. I had access to the pool and gym and that was included in the room fee, great value. I will certainly try to come back to the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel when we take our next trip to Edinburgh.

Booked this hotel as we didn't have much choice - it was a game in the city that day... Couldn't believe how good this hotel was - one of the best 4* hotels we ever stayed (and we stayed in many).
