Staff were friendly and the room was of a good size Unfortunately the room was uncomfortably cold and the heating system was not working properly. We had to resort to using the hairdryer and heated towel rail to take away the chill. Despite asking at reception nothing was done to correct the problem and we had to keep our coats on until it was time to get into bed.

Our second visit and good standards have been maintained. Very comfortable in every respect. Apart from kettle not working when we arrived this was soon rectified.

Attentive and helpful staff Rooms were a good size and standard Rooms were clean and tidy, friendly maid service. Breakfast was hot and well presented within a few minutes of ordering. Car parking reservation and valet parking worked well. Poor service one night from bar staff who seemed not to see 4 of us sitting in front of the main fire in the lobby. I had to finally go to the bar 30 ft away which had 2 bar staff who were chatting to each other and no other Guests wanting service. Enjoyable stay

Lovely, clean and modern room and bathroom. Had everything required and thank you for the free safe. Very friendly and welcoming reception and bar staff. Lovely reception area with comfy seating. Just a lovely hotel which I would happily return to. The service in the Steak & Grill Restaurant for dinner was extremely slow and haphazard. This was the second time we had eaten in this restaurant in the last 12 months and sadly the service was poor on both occasions. The food is very nice, however, you are served by several different waiters and there would appear to be a lack of communication between them which may be the reasons for delays and lack of attentiveness, not to mention forgetting to take our sweet order and, when it finally was taken, giving us the bill with the dessert before asking if we wanted coffee or anything else! All very odd considering most of the waiters stood around as they were not busy.

The hotel was "faultless". Location excellent near to city centre shops and attractions. We shall certainly stay here again on any future visits to Edinburgh. Nothing to complain about. A very comfortable stay.

Helpful friendly staff - on-site car parking - quiet location - good breakfast with plenty of choice (food was cooked to order) - swimming pool/sauna were clean and never busy -comfy bed - powerful shower. Although our room was clean the carpet, wallpaper, furnishings etc were looking a bit tired and the room looked in need of a makeover. Perhaps we were just unlucky? So first impressions were a bit disappointing but everything else was first class and we had a very comfortable, enjoyable stay.

Large room and the convenience of a spa Had to wait for breakfast as restaurant was full and service was slow. Advertised 4pm check-out and lunch for £20/head but in practice the reception staff wouldn't let us stay in our room and in any case the restaurant wasn't even open for lunch. Hotel is not well situated for buses

We were conveniently placed for the festival. It seemd like a haven. We were able to have a swim before going out for the day and have relaxing nightcap in the bar before going to bed. The spa was a bonus- - very professional staff. I had a wonderful facial- .We were greeted nicely- the staff were pleasant- polite but with personality. There was avery good deal for late check out . We spent over 450 pounds on 3 nights. I think at that price breakfast should be included . Also perhaps slightly more than one measly packet of biscuits on the tea tray and a few things inthe mini bar would not go amiss. Te Tv could not actually be seen when you were in bed- we had tp balance it on a chair. However these were minor things - but as you asked.....

Location was excellent. Room was beautiful & large. Refrigerator provided. Dining room was nice. Overpriced wi-fi for expensive hotel. Front desk and restaurant staff were inexperienced and not knowledgeable. Engineer couldn't figure out why we only had scalding hot water in shower from time to time because he couldn't replicate the problem in one look (although maid did). Concierge wonderful but overwhelmed with minor duties that took him from his job.

Proximity to the Edinburgh Castle, the Festival and the old town; spacious, clean, well appointed rooms; pleasant dining room with friendly efficient staff (an especial recommendation to the waitress Laura); friendly and helpful reception staff (especial recommendation to concierge Bill and a French lady whose name I don't recall on reception). The room was advertised as having free wired internet access. It was surprising to find that this was only at dial-up speeds and that for effective internet access I had to buy wireless from BTOpenzone.

Good price for quality, despite of high season. Location close enough to city's main attractions. Valet overnight parking is expensive.
