Just the Gap in the front door room 27 the wind was blowing right in
The room was lovely The staff couldn't have been more helpful Food is amazing even if you aren't staying at the hotel, you should definitely eat at the Bailey restaurant
The room wasn't superbly clean The wifi wouldn't connect despite being connected to 3 or 4 of the several wifi hotspots
Apart from the WiFi being very poor everything else was excellent. Will be back.
Food in the hotel was really nice and great customer service.
Room was a bit shabby around the edges could do with an update/upkeep.
Had a great meal and a lovely place to stay
Comfy convenient, with decent food on offer
It's in a black spot which makes getting a phone reception very difficult. Made worse by the fact my room was one of the many that didn't get wifi
The noises from pipes through the night the shower in bath room was funny to start other than this ok
The nearby road was noisy and room was drafty
I don't understand why thsi hotel has received an average rating of 8.1. Although rooms have been refurbished at some point, we found our room to be very shabby (for example, the bedding was poor, lamp shades had marks on and the toilet seat was chipped). The room was incredibly dusty too, with thick layer of dust evident around the edges of the carpet and on the headboard. We stayed over the Christmas period and didn't realise that the hotel wasn't staffed on Christmas day. We left that morning to spend the day witrh relatives and returned in the evening to find the bed unmade, damps towels still in the bath where we'd left them, a very limited amount of loo roll left and and no refills of tea and coffee. I spent an hour trying to contact the night porter who eventually brought us some clean towels etc. I did complain at reception the following morning and they refunded one night, however we would rather have received the level of service expected of a hotel as it did spoil our stay. If the hotel accepts bookings for Christmas they need to provide staff and facilities to support this. Overall, very disappointing and I wouldn't book here again.
Went for the night with another couple hotel was really good value for money and the food served in the bar was beautiful
Excellent food , friendly staff, good service, nice rooms.
A fireplace in the bar area would be nice in winter to add warmth, atmosphere. Slight problem with the drinks bill which did not automatically deduct £5 off bottle of wine offer, however it was soon sorted when queried.
Food Warm room Parking Bar Warm friendly welcome Definately stay again
Walls on room thin. Last stop was awake all night with couple talking . Then him spanking her derrier with table tennis bat. Honest thats what it sounded like for 3 hours @!! Game set and presumably red!!
We stayed in a courtyard room which was clean and accessible from outside without having to go in the main hotel, could park right outside the door of our room, nice views from room.
A little noisy in the morning with neighbours as rooms very close together but think we were just unfortunate to have noisy neighbours
Great location, Excellent staff and service, very good menu with quality in every offering..
Mobile phone connection is almost impossible. This is not the hotels fault but if you need to be connected you need to take that into account.
Staff were friendly and very welcoming
. Location . 'Motel' arrangement . Cleanliness
. I waited 10 minutes in an empty bar for a drink: no bar staff! I had to search for bar staff in the kitchen! . VERY slow Wi-Fi!
Stayed here many times, staff great, food great (not cheap), comfort high, usually the wi-fi is awful, on this occassion very good, was I lucky? or have they sorted it? my next visit should tell me.
Pretty much everything
Wifi was a little flakey at times.
Staff are very good, the hotel is very pet friendly, food is good and reasonably priced. Rooms are comfortable and clean.
WiFi is not all that good, a bit hit and miss in the rooms though ok in the central part of the hotel.
Large comfortable bed. Helpful staff. Free parking. Close to city
Difficult to adjust shower. Some rooms adjacent to road are noisy.
Very kind and helpful staff
Very good hotel for pets. Lovely walk close to the hotel. Ease into the rooms from the courtyard is perfect for dogs. Good service from the bar and restaurant staff. The food was very good. Excellent location for Durham.
I have stayed at The Honest Lawyer four times now and on each occasion I have not managed to connect to the internet. The service is offered throughout the Hotel and I have felt bothersome in calling to clarify the problem. It was suggested that I could come to the bar and the connection may work. However, as a single lady, this would not work for me.
Great value for money Good staff and facilities
Some rooms nearer the road are noisy Wifi in some rooms not too great
Great Value for someone to use as a base The Pub restaurant has a good menu and high quality food
WiFi was intermittent
