Great accommodation and service for a reasonable price. Excellent food served at the restaurant. Very helpful and well trained staff. Easily reachable by car and parking is ample. It is 10 mins taxi ride from the Durham Train station/city centre. Buses may be infrequent during certain hours. Crossing to the Bus Stop on the other side of the road must be done with care since cars tend to speed unceremoniously through the countryside roads.Taxi is around £10 - £12 each way.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night as a last minute break to escape work, kids etc etc. This hotel is superb. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. The key feature are the staff, talk about polite freindly and helpful. What a fantastic Team! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The food is very, very good and reasonably priced. The rooms are very well presented and extremely comfortable. If you are ever visiting Durham or just want a nice stay in the North East you must stay here!

Courtyard room with the door leading directly outside. Room was cold and drafty with gaps around the door. We could put the radiator on which helped with the cold, but the radiator was so noisy that it couldn't be left on overnight. The wi-fi nternet (the main reason we booked this hotel) wasn't working in our room even though we rang reception and they said it should work by connecting to the wi-fi in the next room. It wasn't until the next morning when a caretaker came over and flicked a switch somewhere next door, that it actually worked properly. Also, the walls between the rooms were thin and next door having a shower at 6.30am woke us up!

The restaurant was excellent The assistant manager on duty at 2.00pm on Saturday was appaling. Her iidea of customer care, when she had finished chatting to a colleague, was to merely look at me and say nothing, so I said nothing, she eventually got the idea and asked if she could help me. The same thing happened when I checked out on Sunday morning. I would recommend friends to eat there but because of her attitude not to stay there

The room was comfortable and well furnished and the staff were pleasant and helpful although a little rushed at times. Food was good. I think a walk in shower would have been better than a bath as the bathroom was small, in addition to which some of the bath/shower fittings we loose. Also, some of the housekeeping was lacking, as the bedroom floor did not look as thought it had been hoovered properly on check-in.

The ambience of the hotel is great, the staff could not be friendlier and more efficient and the food is excellent being very much in keeping with an AA rosette. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a break in Durham. The Honest Lawyer certainly met all our expectations and ticked all the boxes. Absolutely nothing!

Free Wifi and staff services of both the bar and morning breakfast. There are bugs and insects flying into room as we getting in and out; reason being the hotel is just by a farm with long weed. Our room no. 26 has very low water pressure in shower and smelly toilets!
