This beautifully furnished, privately-owned and family-run 17th century coaching inn offers traditional hospitality and excellent cuisine, recommended in Harden’s guide.

Having recently undergone an extensive restoration, the building boasts original oak beams, natural stone walls, open fireplaces and a homely atmosphere. Guests can relax in the comfortable bar next to the roaring fire in winter months or enjoy a quiet drink and a game of boules in the attractive garden during the summer.

Occupying a position 16 km west of Bridgwater, the hotel is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the foot of the Quantock Hills, just 1.6 from Kilve's geological beach. Minehead, Taunton and the medieval town of Dunster are also within easy reach.

The Hood Arms is enjoyed by mountain bikers, walkers, business people and those just wanting a relaxing break.

Renowned for its excellent food, comfort and hospitality, The Hood Arms is enjoyed by mountain bikers, walkers, business people and those just wanting a relaxing break.

Food & beverage

There is a large restaurant with seating for up to 38, as well as a smaller, more intimate dining area for up to 18. Garden restaurant seating is available for up to 18, whilst there is also a delightful walled garden for 48 diners.

High quality food is made with local produce wherever possible. There is an extensive wine list, West Country real ales and ciders, along with 12 single malt whiskies.

Excellent breakfasts are offered, with early breakfast options available for business guests and contractors.

Room information

All rooms have en suite bathrooms and are individually furnished with comfortable beds and equipped with televisions, Wi-Fi interent access, telephones, tea/coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries.

There are double rooms, twin rooms, family rooms and family suites, which are either situated in the main house or across the cobbled courtyard in the adjacent converted cottages.

Area information

The Hood Arms is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the foot of the Quantock Hills, just 1.6 km (one mile) by winding country lane from Kilve's delightful geological beach. There is breathtaking countryside and plenty of wildlife just minutes away, to be enjoyed by car, on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.

An ideal overnight stop for those travelling on to Cornwall or Devon, The Hood Arms is situated about a 20 minute drive from the M5 at Bridgwater.

The hotel is also very conveniently located for guests attending weddings at St. Audries Park, just 6.5 km (4 miles) or a 5 minute drive away in West Quantoxhead.

Minehead, Taunton and the medieval town of Dunster are all within easy reach; Bath, Exeter and Bristol can be reached within an hour.

We did not know that the hotel closed between 3pm and 6pm and so turned up at 3.30pm and could not get an answer. We went away and returned twice before we got an answer at 6pm. Booking.com needs to clarify the checking in times at this venue. Our email confirmation stated from 13.30pm onwards. Mind you... we did get drinks on the house for our inconvenience!!	8.5

Da die Besitzer erst 3 Tage vor unserer Anreise das Hotel in einem ziemlich schlechten Zustand übernommen haben, war es bewundernswert, wie gelassen und freundlich sie mit dieser Situation umgingen. Wir sind sicher, dass die deutlichen Mängel in der Zimmerausstattung bald behoben sein werden.	7
