Quaint & historic.Staff were very friendly & helpful.Breakfast was well worth having.
I would of been very upset if I had of paid full price for our suite.Definately not value for money. The mattress was like sleeping on a medieval form of torture. It was so incredibly uncomfortable. The noise from the bar although muted was still very annoying.
The room was well set out and had everything you could need. Tea and coffee making facilities including biscuits and hot chocolate. Plenty of space, spare pillows in cupboard. Varied menu for breakfast and all prepared freshly. We also ate dinner there every night and food was excellent too. Staff are professional, friendly and very knowledgeable so much so we decided to stay an extra night after they recommended some places to visit.
Nothing an excellent experience
Very cosy rooms and Tea and Coffee available. Food in the pub area really tasty; good selection of beers. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good parking area. Met all our expectations.
Staff and food excellent
All aspects of visit.will go again soon
Couldn't fault 'The Hoops'. rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean, staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was one of the best we've ever had! Would recommend it to anyone.
I can't fault this place, staff were so lovely and the breakfast was amazing. Food great and I would highly recommend
Room was very comfortable. Nicely laid out. Nice bar and good food downstairs. Great stay
The staff set us up a breakfast area in the bar as we couldn't leave out dog in the room and they were fantastic! We were away from the breakfast room but not forgotten about and they provided wonderful service
Room and bed v good (4 poster), food good, gardens nice and staff v good.
TV screen too small, tops of shelf and headboard were quite dusty. Other than that all spotless..
We stayed at Hoops a few years ago and it was very good then and, if anything, it has improved with the new owners. Will return I am sure.
The lady who greeted us, served at the bar and served breakfast was such a lovely, helpful person. Made us all feel like friends rather than guests. Room an excellent size.
My only criticism would be that the bathroom was looking a bit tired. However loved the big bath!
great place to stay room good food good staff nice.
Ambience, whereabouts and staff friendly
Room in desperate need of re-furb
It was the perfect place to stay our last night in Devon Country. So typical of the old homes in the area. Craig was especially nice and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner there and enjoyed both.
Staff very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable Good separate restauirant away from bar area Breakfast very good
It was like stepping back in time in the suite, but the bathroom gave all the modern facilities.
This is a splendid country inn with accommodation and good food. Staff were very welcoming and the bar is very pleasant. The standard room I stayed in was comforatable and clean. Sufficient space to work in room, with reasonable speed wireless internet connection.
Breakfast is not served until 8am which is a little late for the business traveller moving to appointments in Devon. The pine furniture in the room made it look a bit dated but it was of good quality.
Staff most friendly and helpful Lovely large double room, lovely restaurant, evening meal and breakfast excellent , great bar area with friendly knowledgeable barman Paul, good location on A39 within easy reach of many resorts and attractions.
Food choice was good and bedroom was clean and comfortabe
Well kept establishment. Clean and up to date. Great food in restaurant. Really nice place to find.
A little noisy as room on road side, but quiet during sleep hours so not a problem.
The Hoops is not one of your antiseptic concrete box hotels with all mod cons and full aircon. Rather it is a collection of clean and well-appointed, but rather small rooms where aircon. is achieved by opening a window and letting the cool Devon air flood in with evocative scents of the countryside. The attached restaurant is great for dinner, and once you've finished, you can take your drink to one of the many sheltered tables in the gardens above the buildings to talk into the evening as the sun sets. That was our experience and hard to beat anywhere.
Loved the room no 5 so pretty and spacious, beer garden beautiful, food great beer cold, staff very very friendly, great place all round. Beautiful thatched building built in 1215, you gotta see it to believe it, so glad we booked there, would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.
Quick tip don't try and fit 2 slightly drunk adults into the bathtub, very funny outcome and ribs will hurt from laughing so much lol
The food in the restaurant for the evening meal was exceptionally good. Breakfast was pretty good too. Staff were efficient and polite. The room was cosy.
Our room was small, considering the price we paid. We did use the hotel during the school break, so a premium may have been charged. The spa bath didn't work, although the shower was a good powerful one.
