Location is perfect staff and manager very pleasant and available for assistance when needed. The food was delicious and plenty of it. Pleased to see that there are plans to renovate the pub.
Fabulous rural & coastal quaint traditional inn by the harbour, coves and surrounded by stunning countryside. Lovely room with sea view. Excellent service. Delicious fish meals and local drinks. Stunning!
Stayed August bank holiday weekend !, Fantastic time the place was Buzzing !, lots going on Great time for everyone, Family friendly place,Would Recommend
Friendly atmosphere good food tidy rooms excellent shower
location and room size
burnt or over cooked food, smell of drains, noise out side at night,( till 2am) shower cubicle over flowing on to the floor, complained and was told the emergency plumber had a day off.(he was still of 4days later) we cut short our stay by two days.i would go back to hope cove but I would not stay or eat at the hope and ancor.
Location with wonderful surroundings.Great for walkers.Food was great.Helpful staff and very hard working.
Did'nt like access through narrow lanes.
great location, lively but not over the top pub/BB, good breakfast and very comfortable room. Free parking at the front/side of the building, very close to the sandy cove and great sunset view across the water. good walks over the hills and cliffs and a very traditional village to stay in. body surfing is the popular daytime activity if your not just lying on the beach chilling out.
narrow lanes meant the traffic hold ups once you are off the main roads are a bit of a nuisance as you often cant go forward or back due to the quick build up of the hold up. i enjoyed the beer when it was pulled with the sparkler on but flat beer really is a turn off as well as looking as if has been in front of you for an hour or so it has no body.
It was just perfect. I really enjoyed my stay in Hope Cove. The staff was very friendly!
Our room was spacious and beautiful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. A really nice place to be
Our room was very warm. We'd have slept better with something cooler than a duvet but everything else was very nice
Beautiful and peaceful location. The room was one of the best B&Bs I have stayed in. Staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble.
Maybe some soap and/or shower gel in the bathroom would be a nice touch as we forgot to bring any!
Friendly and efficient check in. We had an attic room which had a sea view and was spacious and modern. The bed was incredibly comfy and the room was quiet although directly above outside seating area. We had lunch there which was good especially the Dirty Chips ( chips with pulled pork, cheese and chilli ). We parked in the car park which was £4 until 9am but the attendant allowed us to leave after 10am with no extra charge. Would definitely recommend.
Not pub's fault but wifi kept cutting out and also no phone signal. Pub is buzzing in the evening which is fine but some thoughtless parents allowed their children to run around outside screaming.
room was comfortable, clean and had a great view of the cove. Ease of access to the beach. very decent evening meal and breakfast.
parts of the corridors were rather dirty old and smells from the kitchen filled them.
Badly lit stairway from the pub to the rooms. The stairs were worn and slippery. Menu needs more inspiration,
Room large airy and clean. View from room good.
We didn’t like waiting over an hour for breakfast then when it did finally arrive it was cold and in edible. Given cups without saucers no tea spoons and juice etc not replenished regularly
good location so close to the beach and good views.
Having to park in a public car park away from the hotel and having to pay for the privilege. It would be better if the hotel car park was designated for residents only.
Lovely location. Good pub grub.
Room a bit snall Seagulls rather noisy - not the Pub,s ault!
No wifi even though we booked it because it had Wifi
This was a fine traditional inn. Comfortable bedroom, and a pleasant dining/breakfast room. We had a good big cooked breakfast.. The setting was spectacular - right in the centre of a little village, 5 minutes from a pretty beach. Walks to the cliff-top moor started almost from the door. All most enjoyable.
It was too easy to get lost in the winding corridors, but eventually we learned to find our way.
Really nice rooms nicely decorated perfect location away from it all !
Breakfast was a little unorganised out side could do with a tidy up decking tables etc
Superb location room was very large with a queen size bed that was very comfortable, bathroom was a good size and very clean, staff very friendly and the food was very good.
The parking outside the Hope and Anchor was difficult however there was a car park that you can use for £4.80 a day which took you to 9am the next morning.
Location is excellent for the beach and in good weather can't be beaten! Family friendly Dog friendly Super room with lovely view Nice cooked breakfast
No info in room so no idea how to get back in when doors locked Some staff a bit indifferent, other great tho and think it would have improved if we had been there longer! Very early check out Air con would be nice but fan provided
Rooms were tastefully decorated and furnished. Choice of food and quality was first rate and well priced. A good combination of traditional pub and excellent food and drinks selection.
It was very muggy and hot (27C weather and our room was on the second floor with small windows, which could not be fully opened because of the likelihood of seagulls getting in, (well it's by the sea !). It was hot at night but aircon is the only answer with the inevitable hike in room rates. As we only get perhaps 10-15 days a year of this weather it's a problem all over the Uk.
Apart from the non-existent Internet connection, everything was good for a pub hotel. The student holiday staff were excellent whilst on duty, but
Having a sea view in close proximity to the bay in the heat provided an excellent opportunity to drift off to sleep to the sound of the sea. Unfortunately when off duty the staff enjoy gathering, talking and singing on the terrace under the windows until the early hours of the morning. Closed windows, fan and earplugs required.
